As it builds, you really feel the connection between the characters, and the experiences they are going through. It does take a while to build, and it's not made totally clear what the imprisoning power gains from keeping them hostage for as long as they did

A Twelve-Year Night definitely deserves to be seen courtesy of what the men represented by these actors had to endure for such a long time. Though a solid enough film, A Twelve-Year Night didn't bring any of the emotions these men would surely have experienced to the fore. I felt like I was just witnessing some of their experiences rather than truly absorbing what they went through. I also believe greater depth to the story prior to its beginning here and during the final act would have been of benefit to the film too.
