Grueling but honest depiction about the ravages of Alzheimer's. Yep, it's a downer.

dave j Co-written, co-produced and directed by Bille August with elder violinist Barbara (Viveka Seldahl) and music composer/ conductor Martin choosing to leave their long time potential spouses to marry each other, and it isn't long "Martin" the title of the movie is referring to begins to show some of the first signs of alzheimer's forcing Barbara's hand to make adjustments. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Just because a movie has it's sad and even tear jerking scenes? Does not make the movie a downer. This movie is very much the opposite. Coming from someone who's mom passed from Alzheimer's. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member (** 1/2): Good cast but as the film when on, it lost my attention. A near-miss. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A very moving film. It moves along well and excellent acting. You cannot help but want this man to wake up from his brain's slumber. Wollter does this character amazingly. You watch him go from a proud independent man to that of a clueless child. The only criticism I have for this film is that there is something about this film that leaves you detached from the story. You never feel apart of the story. You only feel like a mere spectator. Still, it is worth your time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member This one was tough to watch, as a man who had been a brilliant composer slowly succumbed to Alzheimer's and his wife tried her best to keep him going. Absolutely brilliant portrayal by Steven Wollter as Martin and Viveka Seldahl as Barbara. The supporting cast was excellent and the emotions were never far from the surface. The music was divine. An altogether well done film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Powerful story about the crippling effects of Alzheimer's and all the people that drawn into the circle.
