Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine 99 Homes is worth seeing, especially for the urgent, raw work by both the actors and Bahrani, and for what it says about the American economy. Rated: 3/4 Jun 12, 2016 Full Review Alissa Wilkinson Christianity Today 99 Homes is very good at showing that the housing crisis is not a problem that belongs to one person. Rated: 4/4 Apr 13, 2016 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald The rackets and scams it exposes are all real, the result of extensive research. It's a gripping thriller with good guys and bad guys, but everyone in it is a victim, including Rick Carver. Bahrani's achievement in this film is breathtaking. Rated: 4.5/5 Nov 19, 2015 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Say this for 99 Homes: It contains arguably the most truthful snatch of dialogue to be found in any movie released so far in 2015. Rated: 3/4 Feb 12, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review 99 Homes really belongs to Shannon, offering a portrait of a man who has long since stopped asking about the ethical implications of his actions and, only after a few drinks, hints that he laments having to wear a concealed weapon. Rated: 3/4 May 12, 2022 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Features a gut wrenching eviction scene that establishes the tone for the rest of the film. It's the stuff they don't show you on reality flip shows, the personal, tragic side of foreclosure. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 4, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Logan D During the Great Recession Dennis and his family are evicted from their home by a man called "Boss," Rick Carver. Unexpectedly, Dennis finds himself working for Boss in order to get his home back and make a lot of money in the process but at the price of his own integrity. Stellar performances all around, especially from the two leads. I loved the tension provided by the situation, the wrestling with one's own morality. Bahrani accomplishes a stirring thriller in which everyone is a product of the economy. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Dylan C Great movie with an electric performance from Michael Shannon. The best part about this movie is it gets you thinking what would you do in each scenario. An emotional drama that definitely has slid under the radar. You won't regret watching it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Rochelle L This movie is filled with SO MANY inaccuracies that are presented as fact, I feel i need to warn the viewer. It is important to know that the profiteers from the Financial Crisis were not con artists like this movie's lead, but the Fed and huge hedge fund investors who loaned $20B in subprime mortgages. I'm sure the hedge funds paid to have this movie make to hide their wrongdoings and make it look like it was local sleazy brokers. NOT TRUE! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Anthony W The movie started out good, but the middle and end just sucked. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Desi M A hard but necessary story about the ongoing war between the rich and the poor. The muted colors throughout the film match the themes well. Shannon illegally steals the show. Garfield hold his own. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review William N The movie was going well until the fourth act where all of a sudden the jobless mother living in a hotel with her grandson and son doesn't approve of how her son is making money; ungrateful. Just a really bad ending that attempts to make bad guys out of people simply doing their jobs. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
