I've always liked Sandie Shaw's hit singles from the 1960s. Most singles from this period were written by Chris Andrews and especially songs like "Long Live Love", "How Can You Tell", "I'll stop the Nothing", "Run" and "Message Understood" still belong among my favorites. Shaw also released singles written by other writers than Andrews and among these "Always Something There to Remind Me (Bacharach) and Grand Prix winner" Puppet on a String "are the most significant.
Chris Andrews wrote during the period which this CD-release covers (1964-1967) also several B-sides and album tracks to Sandie Shaw and among these I would highlight "Had a Dream Last Night," "If Ever You Need Me" and "Hurting you "as some of the best.
Some of the album tracks are really not very remarkable, and for non-completists one of the countless compilations, which concentrates on the big hits and selected album tracks probably will sufficient; as opposed to this 2-CD set which largely contains everything Shaw released in the period from her first single in 1964 until March 1967th
Stylistically, you can probably compare Shaw's music with Dusty Springfield's from the same period - just in a more youthful disguise.
