Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Star Island Resort and Club enjoys a prime location favored by many travelers for its proximity to Orlando's attractions, though some have encountered traffic snags. While the hotel's array of amenities, including pools and activities, is popular, guests have called out service issues such as towel replenishment and added fees. Opinions on service are polarized, with experiences ranging from friendly to unaccommodating staff. The atmosphere mixes charming privacy with somewhat outdated decor, and despite spacious rooms, there are cleanliness concerns and maintenance needs. The value proposition has been questioned due to extra charges and service shortcomings.

….so I am writing this review of Star Island before I go again in November. (8 more weeks!) I can because I’ve been there numerous times. First, read the resort description. There are numerous condo sizes that sleep a different number of people. It’s not the resorts fault that you booked a small unit when you needed something larger. As they state, the resort cannot move or change your reservation, so be sure of your booking. The front check-in staff are excellent and work hard to get you to your condo in record time. They’re the best at what they do.

The units are as stated. Yes you might run into a bug or two… it’s Florida! If I was a bug I’d hang out at the resort also. Sometimes you’ll find something within the unit that doesn’t work.. it happens…it’s called Life. No need to call and scream as they probably didn’t know there was a issue. The maintenance staff is quick to respond to correct whatever is needed. All harmless. Some units have washers /dryers, some don’t. Each are stocked with a “startup” of soaps, toilet paper, etc. Nothing is endless. When needed the resort mini-mart stocks those much needed supplies. They also provide a wide range of hot and cold food, drinks, and assorted dairy … home of the famous “Star Burger”. Stop in and order a burger, say hello to the staff. You’ll be glad you did.

The resort is kept clean, totally spotless., no matter where you look. You’ll notice the staff constantly cleaning and tending to the landscape, never slowing down. You’ll get tired just watching them!

Parking is parking. Sometimes you’ll get a front row parking spot outside your building, sometimes not. It all depends on the time of the day and where exactly you’re trying. But then again isn’t it like that no matter where you’re trying, regardless of location?

Amenities. What can I say. The pools are great for both adults and kids. Clean and refreshing. George, Nichole, and Chase are constantly mixing all types of drinks that are available from the poolside or upstairs bar. You also have the option of Diana delivering something to your lounge chair so no need to move very far. There is a DJ playing music poolside during daylight hours. Scott has a great selection and is always ready to play the favorites. He also keeps the kiddies busy with games and gives awards for the winners. Also available is morning golf with a bucket of free balls. Get there early as it does get busy. Upstairs bingo is always fun along with nightly karaoke. The music does get loud but does not last late into the evening. While you’re there, book a massage at the day spa. It’s clean, professional and relaxing. The perfect way to start your vacation!

Give Star Island a chance. It’s a great place to stay, close to shopping and restaurants, not far from the parks. What matters most is that the staff works hard to make your time there the best it can be.

First, unplug your phones in your room upon entering unless you want to be woke at 8am or earlier by Wyndham who has access to the rooms even if you are staying as a Star Island guest and not a Timeshare guest. I find it ODD that a Wyndham employee can call my room at 8am several times until I answer and then proceeds to tell me about a new parking pass I need and calls before leaving for Disney are required (all BS to get me to come to a meeting). Star Island staff are great and would have given a higher rating if not for the partnership with Wyndham. The rooms are very nice, pools great, parking abundant, layout of property is tropical. The elevators need work along with some upgrades to the activities, salt & pepper and pot holders in the room are needed if cooking with family. Overall having a market on site is nice. Get a parking pass from the front desk if staying as a hotel guest. If staying as a timeshare owner, no choice but to get pass after hearing about the "new owners" updates, etc. FYI - at Ocean Walk in Daytona, Wyndham is being sued by HOA for this very same thing of harassment.

If you make your reservation online, please take your receipt, the resort may not have your reservation in the system. Please have patience, it my take up to 3 staff members to get you checked in. Please bring an air freshener, the smell is not pleasant as the big beautiful luxurious suite. Please bring sheets for Queen & King size beds, the room maybe supplied with only twin size sheets. Complimentary towels are only for guest staying 7 plus nights, so you may need bring towels if staying less than 7 nights. Maid service is an extra charge, I am not sure why we paid $17 dollars per day for resort fee. To top it all off, the iron does not have a label for the heat setting, caution use at your own risk of ruining clothing. This is truly my first impression. Will I stay again, undecided.

So we had high hopes for this location, the pictures make it look beautiful and kind of fancy. When we got there it was nothing of the sort, definitely false advertising. First the hotel is in a crappy area of town, lot of day walkers and bums, got hassled for money almost every time we went to a store. I know this is a WVC property so me being a diamond member for rewards does not matter to them, i asked for an upgrade because every other hotel upgrades us and the manager that checked me in said it automatically gives it to me, we didn't get upgraded nor the room we requested. We asked for 2 doubles got a single. As far as the rooms go, the kitchen/living area is nice but the bedroom is dumb. The beds are hard, the rooms are hot (wont let you lower the temp below 75), the walls are thin and you can hear the neighbors conversations and music, and there is no door to the bathroom so while my guy wanted to sleep in i was not able to get up and start getting ready because it would wake him. The pool area was ok, it was packed so clearly not limiting people for covid, no guests had masks on walking around, kids were misbehaving and running around everywhere, even watched a group of little boys try to peg a squirrel with a football before getting up to yell at them, clearly their parents don't care. Tyler at Bobbys bar is the only redeeming thing at this hotel, he was very accommodating and fun to talk to! Also you need to watch out for their hassling sales pitches, they try to disguise them as meetings about how they are cleaning for covid, or tell you you need to get another parking pass. We weren't in our room a lot but in the 2 days we were there we got at least 6 calls. So obnoxious. On top of that they were doing landscaping at 8am both days we were there so if you don't enjoy sleeping in and waking up to the sound of a leaf blower, this is the hotel for you.

I am a timeshare member for Wyndham. I booked this resort for Daytona 500. I was given the wrong room to begin with. I was suppose to have a one bedroom deluxe and got the mini. I was told the 1st time that I brought it up that there was no other rooms and they were sorry. But yet they wanted to talk to the other couple I was with about signing them up for the timeshare program. Lol. The second time I brought it up, they 3 girls just looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. The fan and the light for the bathroom is one switch which is outside the bathroom. The fan is so loud it sounds like there is a piece of metal rattling around inside. We had to constantly ask for items. We took out our own trash. It was a 1 bedroom and the second room had a pull out with a mini fridge and stove. There was no garbage can in the bedroom. The floor in the bathroom was dirty. When the tub was used for the 1st time, there was a fine black coating on top of the bubbles. Probably will not stay there again.

Overall this resort is a solid 3
Stars. I think the property is overall well maintained and the staff seems friendly but I had minimal interaction except at check in. We didn’t use the facilities since most were closed due to COVID and the pool area was always a bit too crowded for our comfort. We stayed in a one bedroom king and the smell of the room was very musty (had to buy an air freshener) , carpet was old , furniture was old and not comfortable. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels. The kitchen was stocked adequately and they did provide paper towels , 2 packets of laundry and dishwasher detergent. There was no maid service. The washer and dryer were extremely helpful. We did also have a nice balcony but our room was on top of the AC units so it got a bit noisy. Parking was ample on property and they do have a guard at the entrance. I think this would be a fine choice for a family on a budget esp
Better when more things open but do not expect state of the art amenities or room accommodations which we didn’t from reading other reviews. We did buy this from a friend and we recognize that it was a time share property but never got asked to attend a meeting etc , maybe due to COVID? They did ask for emails etc. I don’t think we would stay here again if it wasn’t for this deal we acquired but you can beat the price esp for
The location near WDW and proximity to the grocery store, Walmart etc.

Been a timeshare owner for over 25 years and must have stayed in 50 timeshares, 15 or so in the Orlando area – I have never been so disappointed.
Even though I was on the sixth floor of a building the unit is dark and stuffy – the two small windows in the tiny living room/kitchenette had blinds and if you opened it you looked out on the hallway that everybody walked down to get to their room. One day I was sitting by the table and a maintenance guy was dusting the outside of my window! The bedroom only has one small window that opens to a shaft (no view) and you would think that would be dark except the shaft was lit at night and there was a bright nitelite built into the wall that you could not turn off. Who puts a nightlite in the bedroom where it should be dark at night rather than in the hallway or bathroom? You cannot turn off the loud bathroom fan that would wake up anyone sleeping. Maintenance had to come and unhook it. There was no light by the cooking unit either. So here I sit in the dark living room, and bright bedroom, with no way to enjoy the outside without leaving the unit and going down 6 flights. Not even a small balcony.
On the good side, plenty of parking, pool area was nice but again noisy, pool water rather cold, and the staff was nice.

The staff member at the beginning when we checked in seemed to be extremely unsure about his job and explained the charges very poorly to us when we asked (to double check that everything was as it said it was online) turns out, it was okay. He just didn’t seem like he wanted to take the time to help us understand.

The pullout mattress in one of the rooms was extremely awful and uncomfortable. We had to take the mattresses out of both couches, lay them down on the floor and stack them on top of each other to make it more bearable. Considering the title was a “three bedroom villa” we assumed that the pullout mattress in one of the rooms should have been fine on it’s own. I would say that’s fairly misleading.

Also the master room was advertised with a spa bathtub, but there was not enough hot water to fill it to the bare minimum needed to use the jets (which wasn’t even that much anyways) so I was pretty disappointed with that. We tried a few times too when nobody had used any hot water for an extended amount of time and it still wasn’t enough.

No mask enforcement around the communal pool/hot tub areas either so we didn’t feel comfortable going near there.

The rooms were fairly spacious though. The washer and dryer was helpful for the end of our trip so we were able to fly with clean laundry.

It wasn’t the worst experience ever. But it’s definitely nothing special. If you want a mediocre place and you find the rooms for cheap then I would say it’s a decent place to stay.

Under adverse circumstances, Star Island has gone well beyond accommodating its guests. Courtesy, friendliness, and support for every need is what they excel at. The grounds are well-maintained. Everything is disinfected daily at a minimum. They even have an employee dust every doorway daily for any overnight cobwebs or bugs, plus wiping down doors and handles too! Food and drinks are worth the price, and the pools are spotless. Make sure you try the brand new rebuilt sauna guys; lady's side may be done already too. Loved the private men's steam room and whirlpool. You can't beat this place!!!!!

We will definitely be back to this resort. The staff were very friendly and professional. The rooms were very nice and CLEAN. I am usually realy hard to please in this category and they checked all of the boxes. This was arguably one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed! Beds were really comfoetable as well. One of the pools were closed for maintenance starting our second day but the one pool remained open and held everyone with social distancing in place. We never felt crowded at the pool even considering. The only issue we had was the balconies are very close so request a room with a solo balcony if you prefer privacy as they are almost connected though still physically separated. The other issue was the gift shop/cafe sold us an expired gallon of milk that was extremely high in price to begin with. It was expiring the day we purchased it and was already so sour it made my son sick and we missed part of a day at disney world. When I called the front desk they were happy to help but she didnt quite understand and thought I said our refrigerator was out so the milk spoiled, instead of that we purchased it that way. We wdre finally heading out to Disney when five maintenance men approached our room with the refrigerator and explained they had been given orders to deliver to our room etc. So i thought it was nice they were willing to do all of that. When i went to get the replacement milk I was promised, a younger lady (only impolite staff member we encountered) told me she didnt know anything about the milk and I couldnt get it. I explained to her that I was told I could get the milk by management and she could contact them and she then told me" just go ahead whatever." I felt that was a little inconsiderate. But that was not a big enough happening to ruin our trip and we thoroughly enjoyed every other employee and experience the resort offered. I would 10/10 recommend and we WILL be back. Awesome price for an awesome place. Thank you guys so much!
