I have been to Seoul 3 times for the past few years and only stayed at Classic 500.

Though a little pricey, the room is absolutely worth it. We always get the suite for 3 ( we have 2 adults and 3 kids) and it is like a home away from home for us.

Basically, once you enter, there is a huge hallway for you to place all your jackets. Then it leads to a huge living room plus a working table.

There is a small kitchen complete with induction stove and pots/cutlery to cook breakfast and a very handy microwave oven. ( And a fridge as well)

You would also find a washing machine and dryer. A must have for long trips away from home.

The bedroom has tons of cupboards and two double beds joined together. There is even a vanity counter for makeup.

Bathroom is well equipped with standing rain shower and Japanese style bidet. There is no bathtub (it being built as a high class residence for the elderly - the other side of the Residence)

Our family loves the location as it is just next to a Lotte Mart and shopping complex called Starcity with cinemas, shops , restaurants, e-mart(try to go there to get all the Korean foodstuff etc). The insta worthy Common Ground is just a mere 10 min walk away. Plus all around the residence are small restaurants (from traditional ones to fusion), shops and coffeehouses.

And the subway is just 5 - 10 min walk from the residences, else take a cab cos it takes like 15 min to Jamsil or 20 min to Myeongdong. Cabs are not too expensive when you have 5 or 4 in a group.

The doorman/concierge are always so polite and helpful. Always willing to go the extra mile. And they speak wonderful English too!

We are looking forward to going back Classic 500!

My family, 2 adults and 3 kids, stayed in a 3 adults suite for 3 nights. The room was spacious and well-equipped. The room could accommodate 2 extra kids, but there were only two double beds provided. My kids had to sleep on the sofa in the sitting room which was not comfortable at all.

We stayed in a standard room for 2 weeks which did not have a kitchen. As others posted, you can get larger rooms with Kitchen if you have more than 2 people in your party. The standard room is very spacious with separate sitting area which you will not see in Seoul unless you pay for a suite. The price was very reasonable and the staff were friendly. Some people complained that the bed was hard but I found it to be quite comfortable. Many nearby places don't open until 8 or 9 AM but you can get early breakfast at the hotel for W12,000 (about $11 USD), very reasonable for Seoul. Breakfast is buffet style with standard toast, yogurt, milk and coffee but also includes Korean style breakfast with daily salad, soup, porridge and 2 main dishes. Menu changes daily.

It is located right next to subway station at the junction of lines 2 and 7, very easy to get to many tourist attractions. Lotte department store and Star City mall is practically attached to the property with many restaurants, grocery store and cinema. You can also experience small eateries and street food if you venture into many small side streets on the opposite side of the main road. The mornings are relatively quiet for Seoul but afternoon and evenings are bustling with people and activity but the hotel itself is very quiet.

Airport express bus (6013) from Inchon International Airport drops you off in front of the hotel for only W10,000 ( less than $10 USD). I think it's a hidden gem and I would definitely stay there again.

As with many on the Trip Advisor community, my wife sought Trip Advisor reviews to assist in determining our accomodation choices and activities in Seoul, South Korea. Hopefully, the following factors will assist you in your travel plans:
LOCATION: When researching our stay in Seoul, South Korea, the biggest dilemna my wife and I encountered with the Classic 500 was luxury and comfort vs location. The Classic 500 provided more luxury and comfort vs some of the hotels of similiar price point and ratings that is more "ideally" located in the tourist district area of Myeongdong. The Classic 500 seemed to initially be at a disadvantage due to its location. Thankfully, we elected to stay at the Classic 500. Because after a long Japan tour and staying in Seoul for 3 days, the location proved to be a wonderful benefit.
In some respects, Seoul reminds me of New York City. Traffic congestion and parking availability does not lend itself to driving around as a tourist. Travel around Seoul will usually encompass walking, taking the subway, taking a taxi and/or taking tours. The Classic 500 is located across from the subway stop. The Myeongdong district attraction is primarily shopping. Many shops around the Classic 500 carry shops similar to Myeongdong, only at a more reasonable prices. Many other tourist sights, i.e. Seoul Tower, will require travel via automobile. For my family's part, we took "This is Korea" private tours (see review) where our tour guide drove us around Seoul, addressing the issue of location.
The Classic 500 was originally built as condo living in the residential area of Seoul. Later, it was converted into an executive hotel. Due to its location, it is perfectly suited to experience local life. Next door to the Classic 500 is the Lotte Department store (think Macy's). At the bottom floor of the department store is a large food court and supermarket. Highly recommend the large fried squid. Be aware that the department does close early on week days around 8:00 PM. There are a number of affordably priced clothing stores in the Star City Mall, an E-Mart (think Walmart) and numerous, diverse restaurants where locals go to eat and shop. There is a Starbucks and Coffee Bean on either entrance of the hotel.
ACCOMODATIONS AND AMENITIES: Our suite at The Classic 500 was extremely large and spacious. Having just completed a tour of Japan at traditional, "classic" hotels, the suite was a breath of fresh air. It was a great home away from home. The suite comfortably accomodated our group of four adults with room to spare. There was a large master bedroom (two queen size beds side by side) and a smaller room off the living room (one full size bed). There is also an additional large leather sectional (L-shaped sofa). The combo washer/dryer with drying racks was extremely helpful after our long tour. Our thanks to Andrew, who not only helped bring our baggages up to our room; but also, patiently reviewed how to operate the washer/dryer (the electronic monitor and instructions are in Korean). There is a large flat screen television, which carries a few English channels with which to watch.
My wife and I purchased the breakfast buffet package for the hotel's restaurant, La Gutte, for our family of four. The decor of the restaurant was elegant with floor to ceiling windows, providing a wonderful view of morning Seoul. Often, buffets can generate an image of hordes of people gathering at a trough of food. Not so in this particular case. The restaurant provides a wonderful selection of both hot and cold foods for both carnivores and vegetarians alike with a nice and relaxing atmosphere.
SECURITY: Often times, security is not on the top of our minds while on vacation. Fortunately, the Classic 500 provides an extra layer of security. The hotel provides a keyless remote to not only get into your hotel room; but also, to get the elevator to go onto your floor. Before pushing the button to the floor of your room on the elevator, you need to point the keyless remote to the sensor on your floor's number. Thus, this reduces the chances of a non-hotel guest having access to your floor, which increases the security provided for you and your family.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS:
1. Recommend staying at the Classic 500 for groups of and/or families of four or more, who are staying 3 days or longer in Seoul. It is perfect for families because everyone is close enough to keep an eye on your children, but spacious enough that you don't feel you are on top of each other. The washer/dryer is useful to minimize on the amount of clothes you will need to bring. Also, with infants and young children, it is very convenient to be able to wash their soiled clothes.
2. Recommend taking a car service if travelling with group of four or more with luggages. There is a bus taking you directly from the Incheon Airport. However, travel time from the Incheon Airport driving directly without stops is about 50-60 minutes. The cost for a car service to take us to the hotel from the Incheon Airport was only about $50 USD.

We typically lean towards full service hotels on our various leisure travels. But decided to give the Classic 500 Pentaz – full service apartment / hotel – a try this time for a different type of experience.

The Classic 500 was located in a bustling area next to Konkuk University, just north of the Han River and Jamsil district. There was a myriad of varied eateries and bars within the immediate area, not to mention a 7-11 and Starbucks on site and Lotte Department Store next door. And naturally, there was an obligatory subway station within 2 minutes walking distance. In fact, it seems like every hotel in Seoul is within close proximity to a subway station! LOL

The residence building’s main structure stood a full 50 stories high. However, we had a tremendous view from our 20th floor Suite accommodation, which was a prodigious 1353 square feet in size! Tip: Ask for a room facing Konkuk University, which affords unobstructed visibility to a picturesque lake, right in the middle of the campus.

Otherwise, the unit contained all of the typical facilities normally found in an apartment. This included a stove top with 4 cooking surfaces; microwave; wine cellar; refrigerator and laundry facilities, among other. There were also 5 televisions – count them! – total: 1 living room (largest); 1 bedroom; and 3 small screen T.V.’s in the kitchen, bathroom and hallway respectively.

Contrary to popular belief, the washing machine – provided in Suite Rooms only! – was a combination unit which also doubled as a dryer! Which was interesting, because the Pentaz website only mentions “washing machine and drying rack” under room facilities. This notion was further reinforced when I emailed the property directly for clarification and was specifically informed that the washer was NOT a combination unit and that clothes could only be dried by using the accompanying drying rack…which was an apparatus I was unfamiliar with.

However, it works by allowing guests to drape clothing over a metal rack, which in turn is raised or lowered, via remote control, so that it comes to rest next to an overhead air blower. Which was not a very effective nor speedy drying system – as it turned out – based on our experience.

Upon speaking directly to the room attendant, though – who didn’t have a great command of English BTW – she demonstrated to us that the washer did indeed have a button, which when pressed, activated a drying mechanism. Which was actually a pleasant surprise and offered a marginally better alternative to the drying rack! Which was still an option, however, depending on personal preference I suppose?

There was additionally a convenient English instruction booklet, which guided how to use the washer/ dryer and toilet /bidet plus the other appliances. The toilet bowl had a lid which automatically popped open whenever anyone was near, which was sort of amusing. And the bathroom converted to “night lights” mode whenever all lights in the unit were turned off for bedtime.

We usually opt for a King Bed when staying at hotels. However, the Pentaz had two semi-full sized beds pushed together. The combined sleeping surface was bigger than even a Super King sized bed. But still not a single unit! However, the bed was adjustable, which was a nice feature, and could be individually raised on either side based on each person’s particular liking.

Other things worth mentioning…no concierge desk, but the front desk was very accommodating and prompt to respond whenever we had questions or items which needed to be tended to. The buffet breakfast included was very good, although not great. And again, there were tons of restaurants in the area; although a majority were probably geared a bit more for lunch and dinner dining…and drinking! LOL! The gym was huge! While the swimming pool (Sky Pool) was unavailable period! The brochure provided at check-in informed that the pool is only open to hotel guests from mid-June to end of August, which is very limited actually. And I’m unclear whether an extra charge is assessed for usage, since swimming wasn’t an option for us under this scenario anyway?

Again, the Suite Room was more than big enough for the 2 of us! And would be appropriate for larger groups, including families/ friends. Some Suite units also provided an additional bed. A drawback, though, is that with only the 1 bathroom – which was “shower only”, BTW, with NO bath tub! – this could potentially present a significant challenge for multiple occupants.

My hubby and I stayed at The Classic 500 last week because it was located near my sister's even it was more expensive than Kang Nam. For the first two days, I was bitten by something and the spot was swollen, and dubious a bug. The second night, when I was sitting on the sofa
I felt itchy and took a close look at the sofa and found something. 😱😱😱😱 A bedbug.... Can you imagine? This is the first time I found a bedbug at a hotel. Even the staff didn't do anything at the spot. I asked him for removing the rug which I was suspicious the bugs were more in, he said he couldn't. In addition, he didn't offer for changing the room before I asked. I will not go there again next time I visit to Korea. It was very horrible experience.

This property has what it takes to make one’s vacation a dream come true. Once at incheon airport, take airport bus 6013 10,000kwn/head, it will drop you off right in front of the hotel. At the entrance, coffee bean and starbucks await you. Subway is right across the road. Lotte department store is next door. 9th and 10 th floors are all kinds of restaurants. Lotte basement has a grocery store. Same basement will lead you to e-mart (sort of a walmart) where you can enjoy all your shopping and supermarket where you can buy all the live seafood from lobster, king crab, abalone and cook it in your suite, or have them steam it for you for free. Above emart is the star city mall where you can shop more. Hotel’s basement has a 7-11 store. Ground floor has Japanese and Italian restaurants. It also has a pharmacy. As a bonus, third floor has a clinic/hospital, WOW! Breakfast at LA GUTTE was nice and quiet. The classic rooms are all suite residences. It’s a modern apartment with a humongous area of 125 square meters. You won’t go wrong selecting this place travelling with family of 5 or 6. Downside is, it has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. It has 2 queen beds side by side. Beds can be elevated like hospital beds. Curtains are all motorized. Night lights are all sensor built. Cabinets and drawers are abundant, spacious and well organized. Living room has a huge L-shaped sofa bed which can sleep two people. 52” lcd in living room. 32” tv in bedroom. Small tv in toilet and kitchen. It has washing machine and dryer plus drying racks. It has electric stove, well equipped exhaust while cooking, complete set of utensils and cooking wares, rice cooker, rice dispenser, refrigerator and freezer/cooler. Centralized air least to say. This property will spoil you like a real VIP guest. Most guest reviews reveal that once staying in this hotel, you never want to go back home. Because it makes you feel like home. My family had a grand time vacationing here. Job well done. And my salute to hotel’s manager Patrick lee, front desk staff steve kim, Jacob, james, chloe, and housekeeping roman.

Our suites at The Classic 500 are huge (more than 120 square metres) and must be seen to be believed. As this is Korea, everything is modern so expect two flat-screen TVs, a huge fridge, a washer-dryer, a Toto automatic flush toilet but strangely not a microwave oven, which can be found at the basement 7-11. The phone/security system is so hi-tech that guests can see who's calling or standing in front of their room. However, hotel corridors are dimly lit and the use of facilities (e.g. fitness) isn't included in the rates. Location is another trade-off: it's a five-minute walk to the subway (lines 2 & 7) and right next to Lotte Department Store, convenient for businesspeople who want to visit Gangnam but less so for tourists as Insadong and Myeongdong are half an hour away.

Dear PORhibido Thank you very much for staying again at the classic 500 Pentaz hotel and taking the time to share your comments with the rest of the tripadvisor.com community. I am also very pleased that you seem to be satisfied with our spacious rooms and high-tech facility functions of this hotel. However, I am sorry to learn that you were thinking the fitness was not included on the room rate you paid. Actually, all guests who are staying in this hotel can have free access to the gym with free charge. in regard to the lighting of the corridor, we already instructed to the related department to have the lighting a little more brighten. I thank you again for your valuable comments and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Best regards, Patrick Lee Director Room Division

I can't rave enough about this place. It is fantastic. It is better than any 5 star hotel I've stayed in and I would certainly stay here again. It is incredibly spacious, comes complete with a lounge, large bathroom, bedroom with two double size beds joined together, study area, a dining area, and a kitchen with all household appliances (fridge, freezer, washing machine, oven, microwave, etc). You are essentially staying at a fully furnished one bedroom apartment. Equipped with all the modern technology. Location is fantastic and about a 3 minute walk from Konkuk University subway station, right next door to Lotte department store & the cinema, as well as countless restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. Very helpful and friendly staff. We stayed on the 19th floor and 15th floor and the views (especially at night time) were lovely.

Use of the fitness centre and the spa came at an extra charge but no complaints here as the room rates were about half of what you'd expect to pay for a 4 or 5 star hotel in Seoul.
