Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has tried out the 3rd millennium headrest speaker retrofit kit, since mine is an M-edition I have different circular type speakers versus the normal rectangular ones. Also the 3rd millennium M-800 speakers. Any experiences? Or just any other advice I can use to make the audio in my Miata better, I have a 97 M. I also just recently installed a Boss BE7ACP stereo. :D

I have the door speakers. Used them in my NB, and now in my NA. They are noticeably better. Not amazing by any means, but definitely an upgrade. THe installation was easy, they are affordable, and it’s by miata guys. I would go for the door speakers. No sense spending hella on a convertible car with only 2 speakers. They can handle a surprising level of sound. Bass is also pretty good if you have it up. Just don’t expect to crank the audio to max and have it sound good, but they are loud and sound good enough for most people.

As for the headrest speakers, Jeff Anderson, who is like the miata audio god around here vehemently is against the 3rd millennium headrest speakers. I have no experience with them, they are probably better than stock, but Jeff is against them and he is an audio genius so I trusted him
And didn’t get them. I will be getting Blaupunkt speakers for the seats instead (per his recommendation).

Jeff will probably reply to this, and give you more details. Expect the word “hoodwinked”.
