Honoring the films released in 1963, the 36th Academy Awards Ceremony was held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles on April 13, 1964. The ceremony was hosted by Jack Lemmon, directed by Richard Dunlap, and produced by Richard Dunlap and George Sidney.
This year, the Academy Award for Best Sound Effects was introduced.
