Or was it just a once in a lifetime moment?

I knew 25 sold another 1m copies in its second week but I didn't know the album did it THREE times :rip:

I think Taylor might break this. TTPD is projected to sell over 2.5m and above this week and we know TS only goes up with every new releases. My guess is that if Taylor releases double album or when TS13 (because 13 is a special number for her and she will surely do special promos for the album) comes out

Otherwise, no artist will touch Adele's record.

I'm not sure how Taylor could pull it off if she can't this time; but I'm sure she could find some way to package her albums so she can get her fans to buy 8 of them or something

No. You just had to be there.

Taylor is making a run at it, but I think this is Taylor's peak. I know people say that about Taylor for every album but it will be hard for her to compete with TTPD first week in the future since it has 31 tracks which certainly helps with SPS numbers.

Does she not already do that?

If Taylor can't do it with a surprise double-album loaded with 31 songs, 5 beautiful vinyl variants with 1 new song on each of them (these songs were immediately added to streaming btw), having floating ads on TikTok and the entire album played hourly across all iHeartRadio stations (800+ stations) then unfortunately I don't think anybody will be able to :deadbanana2:

I'd say it's truly a once in a lifetime event. Let's say, even if some future artist broke 25's record for the first week sale, I doubt it's gonna hold up until the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. just like how 25 flawlessly did it. 25 is truly the peak of digital sales era and it also signified the start of its downfall too.

Taylor would have to release a album with physical/digital sales only / no streaming.

If billboard relaxes the bundling rule then it's toast

Someone who appeals to different generations at the same time could do it. People older then 40 don't really listen to Taylor, so she's limited. Maybe after she gives birth and delivers more of a ray of light kind of album, then.... maybe

Maybe Taylor if she maintains this peak and sells like 10+ $10 vinyl variants first week :coffee:

Another question would be, Can three 1M+ weeks off an album ever be topped?

TTPD can have another 1M+ week next week, if she played her cards right..

This wouldn't work today as most people still buying physical albums are fans, most of the GP who contributed to the streaming numbers would just wait until it's on Spotify.

That said, Taylor could still break this with her next album.

Nope, there is NO way anyone is breaking this record.

25 was truly one of those moments which is VALID to be described as "you just had to be there to witness its monumental history". And not in just a "stan" type of thing. She had EVERYBODY in a chokehold. I used to work in a electronic retail store as a student at the time, and she had her own display right at the entrance of the store. And I worked there for three years and I've never seen that store do that for any other artist. That was her level of demand. And she garnered all that without any gimmicks or tricks. Just pure music and performances.
