Additional sports

Paris 2024 has taken the opportunity provided by the IOC in the Olympic Agenda 2020 to propose additional sports to enhance its programme and overall concept. The IOC is keen to set a new standard for inclusive, gender-balanced and youth-centred Games. Paris 2024 submitted its proposal to the IOC to integrate four additional sports closely associated with young people and reward creativity and athletic performance. These sports are breaking (making its Olympic debut), sport climbing, skateboarding, and surfing. All four are easy to take up and participants form communities that are very active on social media.

Our venue concept

Because Paris is unique, the Games in the capital city promise a complete spectacle, thought out for the athletes, spectators and television audiences.

Paris’ iconic landmarks are being transformed into sporting arenas to offer spectators an unparalleled experience and provide an outstanding backdrop for sporting prowess. This unique concept guides our masterplan for the 35 venues.

The Games championed by athletes

Paris 2024 is all about putting on an event that is organised both for the athletes and by the athletes. We’ve set up the Athletes’ Commission to give them a voice. Every Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee has one, but Paris 2024 has decided to broaden its scope.
