  1. Goodbye

Wow, what a day we've had!

You can catch up on my colleague Amy Lofthouse's report on Pakistan's historic win over India here.

And not forgetting how the day started with Sri Lanka's thumping win over Bangladesh, too. That report can be found here.

We'll be back tomorrow with more T20 World Cup action as Scotland take on Afghanistan at 15:00 BST. See you then!

  2. Post update

Before we wrap things up here, there's still time to relive that winning moment.

  3. 'We are not a team that presses the panic button'

India captain Virat Kohli: "We did not execute the things we wanted to but credit where it is due. Pakistan certainly outplayed us today, when you start with not many runs it is difficult to get back into the game especially when the conditions will be slightly different in the second half with dew coming in.

"We knew we needed a total that was competitive but even with that they didn’t give us any chances and were very professional.

"The pitch was OK in the first half, hitting through the line in the forts half was not as easy as in the second half with the Pakistan innings.

"When you know the conditions will change, you need those extra 10 to 20 runs, you ned a decent start and the quality bowling from Pakistan did not let us get away.

"With the dew coming in the slow bowlers were not effective either, it depends on what combination you are comfortable with and we are not a team that presses the panic button. It is the start of the tournament not the end so it is important to stay composed and understand our strengths."

  4. 'This will give us confidence'

Pakistan captain Babar Azam: "I credit those early wickets from our bowlers, Shaheen’s wickets gave us confidence and then the spinners bowled with confidence we were happy with our death bowling as well.

"We built the partnership after the powerplay and the wicket continued to get better with the dew. We batted deep and got those boundaries away.

"We will play it one match at a time, this will give us confidence, there is a long way to go in this tournament.

"As a captain I try to back my players and give them confidence, playing T20s in Pakistan has been a benefit."

Whatever happens in this tournament now, Pakistan will go home as absolute heroes.

Tameena Hussain: When Pakistan turn up, they really do turn up. An all-around sensational & statement performance on the biggest stage. Dil dil Pakistan!

Jason Cole: If you listened very carefully, you could hear the sound of a billion hearts breaking.

Ilyas Najib: I’ve waited my whole life to see Pakistan beat India at a World Cup, I’m 37 years old and it’s been worth the wait. Wow, honestly wow, I have no words

  7. Post update

But in the end, Pakistan only needed two batters to knock off the runs with ease.

I'm sure many would've backed Pakistan to win but to win by 10 wickets and barely giving a chance away?! Ruthless.

  8. Post update

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant batted beautifully in the middle overs, recovering from 31-3 and looked like taking the game away from Pakistan.

At the halfway stage, 151 looked a reasonable total to defend but it could have easily gone either way ...

It's been a long time coming, but Pakistan never looked like they were in trouble.

What an historic day for a team that has struggled. Virat Kohli very graciously congratulates Babar Azam.

Well, who saw that one coming? It was so easy in the end for Pakistan and that will be a concern for India - the bowlers didn't look threatening at all.

Mohammad Rizwan finishes with 79 not out and Babar Azam 68 not out.

The celebrations break out on the field as the pair are engulfed by the rest of the Pakistan team.

You could not have scripted this better, to win by 10 wickets. They have done it in style, what a win. Emphatic.

    What a performance from Pakistan!

A single! Two to win ...

When you get thumped like this, does not matter who you are - India, Australia, Manchester United - you have a lot to think about.

  16. Pak 149-0

Need 3 to win from 15 balls

And another!!! Awful bowling from Mohammed Shami, gifting Rizwan boundaries. Pakistan one shot away ...

  17. Pak 145-0

Need 7 to win from 16 balls

Utter carnage. Four more for Mohammad Rizwan.

  18. Pak 141-0

Need 11 to win from 17 balls

Well, I certainly doubt that was part of the tactics discussion. A filthy half-tracker that Rizwan casually guides for six.

  19. Post update

The worm shows Pakistan are 21 runs ahead of India. Pakistan are 135 for 0 after 17 overs. At the same stage India were 114 for 4.
