black man into a coffin jailed

Logoedited

Many of us had watch this horrifying video of a black South African been forced into a coffin while pleading desperately for his life. I shouted at my computer. At the end of the video I wanted to know more. “Is he dead?” “Has the authorities seen this video?” “Will anything be done about it?” I, like many people could hardly watch. I covered one of my eyes while peaking from the other. I was afraid for this stranger that I did not know. I was angry as I thought to myself, “is this still happening in South Africa?”

The history of Apartheid in South Africa is a very painful one. The majority of the world fought with South Africa against the wicked system of Apartheid and the pain and memory still lives with us. Some of us was never born in the time of Apartheid but the story had been told to us.

Well, the answer is now here. We can now identify the culprits who had done this ghastly act Their names are Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Martins and they are both white South African farmers. They were found, arrested and brought to judgement. Theo Jackson and Willem Oosthuizen were convicted of attempted murder, assault and kidnapping, during the trial.

Of course, one can imagine this case reignite the racial divide and anger in many South Africans. The case was heard at a court in Middelburg, about 100 miles east of the capital, Pretoria. William Oosthuizen will serve 11 years in jail and Theo Jackson will serve 14 years, a total of 25 years. They immediately requested to be allowed to appeal the sentence, but the judge dismissed their application
