Redlands usually closes streets downtown to facilitate trick-or-treating crowds, but this year the Halloween closures will be a few miles to the northeast in conjunction with drive-thru festivities designed to offer a safer way to celebrate during the coronavirus pandemic.
San Bernardino Avenue, which will be home to a pop-up drive-in movie on Halloween, will be closed from 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, between Granite and Dearborn streets, according to a news release from the city.
As the city gears up for its drive-thru Halloween experience at the Redlands Sports Park, Dearborn will close at 11 a.m. Saturday between San Bernardino and Sessums Drive. Sessums will remain open with some restrictions.
Registration for both activities is full.
San Bernardino County health officials encourage residents to exercise caution while celebrating Halloween, and to look for safer alternatives. County guidance for the holiday can be found at sbcovid19.com.
To comply with county and state public health guidelines, the city is not sponsoring the State Street Halloween event this year, nor facilitating trick-or-treating in local neighborhoods.
