Run Android on your PC

PrimeOS is a free Android-based operating system that allows you to enjoy the whole Android application ecosystem on your PC. Developed by Floydwiz Technologies Private Limited, this personalization software looks like an emulator but fully functions as a PC operating system that combines your native OS with Android. Its core features focus more on video gaming but it also offers PC functionalities that make it a top choice among this particular type of OS.

A seamless union of operating systems

PrimeOS’ main function is to allow your computer to run the Android operating system on it without requiring the separate virtualization of Android emulator — all thanks to Android x86. This means that you’re basically switching your native PC operating system to a default mobile one. However, this software doesn’t simply switch the two — it unifies them so you get the best of both worlds. Thus, you can do mobile-only features and also still control your PC like how you normally would. 

While you’re obviously not going to get the native touchscreen feature unless your PC has it already, you can easily configure your keyboard controls to mimic it. This is specifically designed for mobile gaming, which you can now do on your PC without having to boot up an emulator. This OS has DecaPro Gaming Centre, a feature that transforms your computer into a proper mobile gaming device. With it, you can do either customized keymapping or simply use preconfigured settings for popular games like PUBG. 

On the other hand, the PC side of this OS still displays a complete desktop interface. You still have the Start menu, taskbar, Action Center, and all of that. You can multi-task using core computer functions like maximizing and resizing windows. Classic keyboard shortcuts like Alt + F4, Alt + Tab, and Win + D also still work. However, while this software works well enough for low-end PCs, it can still frequently encounter lagging and screen-freezing. Plus, some PC programs may not function properly if this is your installed OS.

Which PrimeOS is best?

There are three versions of PrimeOS that you can download. They mostly vary in device support, as the age of your main hardware can affect the performance of the operating system. The first is PrimeOS Mainline, which is designed for new systems or CPUs that have been manufactured in or after 2014. This edition works well with Intel and AMD GPUs, but is quite incompatible with NVIDIA, as that causes freezing. 

The second version is PrimeOS Standard, which is best for systems manufactured in or after 2011. This is the edition that’s the most balanced of the three since it works well with both AMD, NVIDIA, and older Intel GPUs. It’s also the version that is recommended you switch to in case you keep getting graphic glitches with PrimeOS Mainline. Lastly, PrimeOS Classic is the version for systems manufactured before 2011. This is considered the edition fit for low-spec systems since it supports older hardware.

Can still be unstable

All in all, whichever version you choose, PrimeOS is no doubt a versatile software that offers diverse functionalities. This Android x86-based operating system combines mobile capabilities with a PC interface and allows you to play mobile games on a smoother platform. However, take note that even with PrimeOS Classic, low-end PCs may not be able to handle gaming well. Additionally, you’ll have to forego some computer software.
