“One Night in Paris” can last a lifetime.
It was just 12 years ago on June 15 when hotel heiress Paris Hilton went from daddy’s little girl to pretty much a porn star.
Although the leaked video between Hilton and ex-Rick Salomon was soul-crushing for the young woman, many say it put her name on the map.
Formerly the BFF of Kim Kardashian — who also found fame thanks to a sex tape “leak” — Hilton’s 2001 video bared it all.
Here are 12 shocking things probably didn’t know about the award-winning sex tape:
1. Donald Trump watched it
During a past interview with Howard Stern, Trump admitted to watching the socialite’s sex tape with wife, then girlfriend, Melania.
“Now, somebody who a lot of people don’t give credit to but is in actuality very beautiful is Paris Hilton,” Trump told Stern in the early 2000s.
“I’ve known Paris Hilton from the time she’s 12, her parents are friends of mine,” he continued. “And the first time I saw her she walked into the room and I said, ‘Who the hell is that?’ At 12, I wasn’t interested but she was beautiful.”
Well, alright then.
2. Paris said she never made a dime, but Rick made millions. Wait, hold on.
The tape led to a long and hard legal battle that was settled in 2004.
The Daily News reported that a judge tossed out Hilton’s $30 million invasion of privacy claim, but that Salomon would have to give her $400,000.
In an interview with TMZ in 2013, Hilton said “she never made a dime” off of the film.
She also is quoted saying that, “that she had never intended the video to be a commercial venture.”
3. Leaked just weeks before ‘The Simple Life’ aired — coincidence?
“One Night in Paris” was leaked just a few weeks before Hilton’s reality series “The Simple Life” was set to air.
Interesting timing.
Her friend and publicist Lizzie Grubman told Fox News, “I think that it is personally embarrassing, a complete invasion of her privacy. But she does have a show to promote, and I think it will help sell the show.”
4. It received a ton of awards
A happy accident?
The porn business was buzzing after this one debuted.
“One Night in Paris” received AVN Awards in 2005 for “Best Selling Title of the Year,” “Best Renting Title of the Year” and “Best Overall Marketing Campaign — Individual Project.”
Not to mention it received the Fame Award for best celebrity sex tape back in 2008.
5. Paris says she didn’t know there was a tape in the first place
In a biography about the socialite, she claims she didn’t remember filming it and didn’t know there was a tape out there.
“I saw it online…and completely broke down. I could not believe what I was seeing,” she said. “It’s the most intimate thing you can do and the whole f—-g world is laughing at you”
6. Rick Salomon is the estranged husband of Pamela Anderson
The professional poker player married another blonde bombshell, Pamela Anderson, in 2007.
After splitting one year later, the two tried to reconcile in 2014, but once again it only lasted a year.
They officially divorced in April of 2015.
7. Paris, who?
The sex tape agent who first received the tape said he had no idea who she was.
“I was just told she was a socialite, heir of the Hilton family fortune and hotel chain. Had no idea that she was going to become this big of a star,” Kevin Blatt said on Nightline in 2010.
“For all intents and purposes,” he added. “Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are the two biggest porn stars on the planet.”
8. Stop slut-shaming
In an interview with Piers Morgan alongside her mother Kathy in 2011, Hilton said she will forever be known as a slut for one thing she did with someone she loved at the time.
“It was the most embarrassing, humiliating thing that’s ever happened to me in my life,” she told the host.
“People assume that ‘oh she’s a slut’ just because of one thing that happened to me and it’s hard, I’ll have to live with that the rest of my life,” she said as her mom fought back tears.
9. Just a girl
Salomon says on camera, “you can’t drink you’re just 19 years old,” but Hilton has claimed she was actually younger.
Salomon referred to Paris’ young age throughout the film.
10. Voluntary house arrest
Paris Hilton wouldn’t leave the house for three months after the tape leaked.
Her mother Kathy Hilton told Piers Morgan that had to shield her two young sons from the news as tabloids featuring the story of her daughter’s video were everywhere she turned in New York City.
The Hilton family attended therapy in the aftermath of the sex tape leak.
11. Paris back behind the camera
Currently untitled, the doc was announced to be in the works at Cannes this May.
Directors Don Argott and Sheena Joyce said , “Paris Hilton is a modern day-Marilyn Monroe — beautiful, iconized, world famous, shaped by mass media and misunderstood .”
12. It was filmed mainly in night vision
But they say Paris is the city of lights…
The leaked film between Hilton and Salomon was filmed mostly on a tripod-mounted digital camera and famously in night vision.
Although some scenes were shot indoors without the night vision light.
