Who is Motaz Azaiza?
The Real Motaz Azaiza, "Hero" Gaza Journalists or International Spokesperson for Hamas?
Motaz Azaiza, an UNRWA refugee, turned "photo journalists" overnight, has been glorified by the international media and quoted as a 'witness' in various news outlets, including Al Jazeera, NBC News, CNN, The New York Times, The Guardian, and more, since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. Most recently TIME magazine named him among the 100 most influential people of 2024.
Azaiza, a so called, Gaza photo-journalist, has a concerning history of not only glorifying violent attacks, such as the Oct 7th massacre where he posted and glorified videos of Hamas terrorists invading Israel and kidnapping people, although he deleted his posts from that day, some were captured by Honest Reporting and other users.
During the October 7th attack, Motaz also started to create trends of "Palestine Genocide" while Israelis were under attack in his posts, something that was also done by various "influencers" in Gaza, showing his clear intent of pushing a fake narrative of "genocide" against Israel.
His glorification of violence is not limited to October 7th attack, in 2016, he posted a disturbing video glorifying animal cruelty and during previous wars, he also posted "O resistance, Intensify," highlighting his alignment with extremist ideologies.
Most recently, in his "backup" account, he posted his stance against normalization with Israel and vocal support for the "resistance." His post, along with pictures, included a text that said, "No sugarcoating the Palestinian cause to make it palatable for Westerners. We don’t want peace—we want freedom. We don’t want to live side-by-side; we want the settlers to leave our land. There’s no conversation to be had. The demand is clear—we want to return to our home. We don’t negotiate with terrorists. Long live the Palestinian revolution."
Before being turned into a "Hero Journalist," he worked for UNRWA, where it is alleged he made an obscene salary of $100,000 a year. He also worked for the ICRC and Palestinian Red Crescent Society. In social media he is seen taking part in the "2018 march of return," pretending to evacuate people while carrying a camera, highlighting how much of that violent event was staged, and how the PRCS was involved in staging the violent show. He also worked for TRT World, Turkey's state-sponsored media, and ABC News.
Despite this, he has been elevated to the status of a hero, receiving awards and recognition from influential individuals and publications like US Congress representative Rashida Tlaib, the TRT World Citizen Award, GQ magazine naming him Man of the Year, and most recently TIME magazine naming him among the 100 most influential people of 2024.
Motaz was also turned into a "crucial witness" by the United Nations against Israel and has been meeting with UN representatives, ministers and influential figures worldwide, as well as giving speeches at universities, influencing young minds with a fake and politically motivated narrative.
Online Motaz made threats against, International Human Rights Lawyer, Arsen Ostrovsky in reply to a post where Ostrovsky highlighted the antisemitism nature of UN Special Rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, Motaz later deleted the post.

His evacuation from Gaza to Qatar, it is clear that is about promoting a political agenda for Hamas and not genuine journalism, this was made clear from an interview in Arab media, where he stated that the reason he left Gaza was to exert pressure on the International community against "the occupation" on behalf of the Arab nations and other foreign entities, showing a clear indications that Motaz is promoting a political agenda rather than any genuine journalism.
The media, governments, and institutions portrayal of individuals like Azaiza is not only concerning but dangerous. He is clearly not a true journalist, nor an individual who should be glorified, turned into a hero by the media and world governments or used as a "witness" for anything related to Israel, his motivations are clear and dangerous.
