根據去年《國際運動營養期刊》的數據表示,雖然較高的蛋白質攝取量(> 20 g)顯示更多的胺基酸被氧化,但身體太多地方需要蛋白質建構,或許也不是白費,而今年4月的《運動醫學》期刊也有針對運動選手需不需要更大量的蛋白質攝取來討論。從目前的證據,我們得到的結論是:
為了使肌肉的合成代謝最大化,應該在最少分散四餐中攝取0.4 g-0.55g / kg 的蛋白質,以達到最低1.6 g -2.2g/ kg /天的量。洗腎或腎功能不全的人大概控制在一天0.8-1g/kg,不過若BMI正常甚至偏瘦者或有大量運動需求者,在肝腎功能正常的情況下,吃到3.3g-4.4g/kg/天(大約一天300g以內),都在可接受範圍內,當然更多的攝取量最大閾值限制還有待未來研究證實。
