What travelers are saying
- ccsfamilyGeneva, IL317 contributionsThis is one of the five stops on the all day bicycle tour. We spent about 45 minutes here walking the path around and had a lot of time to take photos. Plus, our bike tour guide provided a lot of interesting information about it. It was crowded; however, there is a lot of space so you could get a good photo and also stop to enjoy the scenery. If we were not on he tour, we would have explored the area a little more and also took time to stop by a few of the tents selling items right outside the exit area.Written April 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chowsoGloucester, UK1,758 contributionsI would love to give this five stars but again, the crowds made it difficult to enjoy parts of this experience. It's a really beautiful place with a nice five story pagoda, and the main hall on stilts is very impressive. There is a nice walk to a small pagoda where people pray for fertility. The main hall and the views of the main hall with Kyoto in the background were the most crowded areas. It is definitely worth visiting but probably best to go as early as possible.Written April 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kim buay pSingapore, Singapore12,818 contributionsWe took the train to Sendagaya station. On exiting the station turned right and walked past Excelsior cafe. We walked through the first underpass across the carpark below the train track and turned right. The Sendagaya entrance is just ahead and it is about 5 mins walk. Normally this park is closed on Monday but during the cherry blooming season, we could visit it on a Monday. This park is very peaceful and provides a good break from the city atmosphere. We also went into the Greenhouse.Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- fizzy1991Nashville, TN5,808 contributionsWonderful place with lots of history but very crowded. We were told by our guide that weekends are even more congested. Most of the buildings were reconstructed after WWII. Although there was one building (see pictures) that was over 400 years old.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chowsoGloucester, UK1,758 contributionsIt’s impossible not to be impressed by this astoundingly large temple. Despite the volume of people I think this was my number one highlight of Nara. I think it was worth the fee to enter - you can see it and get a view without a ticket but I’d recommend going in.Written April 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mellie2013Port Moody, Canada2,854 contributionsA wonderfully cared for and beautiful Shrine. Huge in size and located within one of the most amazing mature forests in Tokyo. Close to Yoyogi Park.
We were lucky enough to visit during their Cherry Blossom 🌸 festival! There were many acclaimed Ikebana artists setting up displays for the event. The Shrine over takes the plaza area and is flanked by the most marvellous mature (maple?) trees on either side.
*Please remember to be respectful and wash your hands prior to entering*
Would we recommend visiting Meiji Shrine...YES!! One of the best sites and free!!Written April 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s an incredibly important reminder of what happened in Hiroshima, very poignant and peaceful. It’s beautifully maintained like everything in Japan. Worth the time walk around the whole site to see the destruction from every angle.Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tacon76Singapore, Singapore66 contributionsOne of the best stay in my entire Japan trip. A overnight trip is a must, to avoid the rush and enjoy the scenery and peacefulness.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - oskarSwindon, UK103 contributionsThe park is nice with lots of temples in the area. The deer are cheeky and I found the bowing quite funny. They seem to roam there naturally and look healthy but they are being fed constantly by tourists so I don’t know how sustainable this is. Was a fun day out.Written April 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Soudamini MohapatraBengaluru, India1,010 contributionsAfter seeing the beautiful pictures of the Arashimaya bamboo forest I thought of it to be something spectacular. But it's just a small patch of bamboo groove which is very picturesque and every inch was full with people. Thankfully there is a walking trail leading to a river with beautiful ducks. Overall it's OK.Written April 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MoonlightLos Angeles, CA2,640 contributionsOld neighborhood worth visiting even though some streets can be extremely crowded, but that’s also part of the charm. Crowds can be avoided by going off on smaller side streets, which are equally intriguing with some great restaurants and shops.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - msa23_2000Chino Hills, CA1,404 contributionsThere are several micro-neighborhoods within Gion, it this is definitely worth a visit and not far from the city center. The old wooden shops, lanterns, and cherry blossoms were a site to behold. The biggest downside is it is crowded.Written April 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- OZS_ATWBudapest, Hungary3,519 contributionsWe came here from Yaedake Sakuranomori Park at the end of January 2024.
We paid Y 3,300 for 2 adults and a kid.
The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium was located in a huge area. We did not like the dolphin show. It was very disappointing but the rest of the place was very interesting.Written April 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The park gets very busy at weekends but has an organised ‘flow’ to the walks so it’s not too bad. Food stalls out in April. Starbucks in the park can have queues out the door at the weekend.
Easy access via park exit Ueno Station. Spend an hour strolling in the fresh air…just don’t walk and eat!Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Take your time and visit the children’s shrine and if you’re lucky, some cherry blossoms (early April).
It’s poignant and stirring.Written April 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
