pearl markets in Hong Kong?

Hello

We will be in Hong Kong in a week and want to go to the "pearl markets" but can't find any info, is there such a thing? as a friend of mine said she has been there. Also what sort of prices are we looking at? Do you bargin? and are they real or do we need to be careful of man made pearls?

Thanks

The Pearl Market is opposite the Temple of Heaven and you get there by getting of the subway at the Temple of Heaven stop. The first 3 floors are all general market merchadise, clothes, shoes, electronics, etc. All good value but you need to bargain a lot. 4th floor is pearls and jewellery and 5th floor are high class pearls. I dont know how you determine if they are real but I suspect the 5th floor ones are more so and you will pay a lot more. Hope this helps.

The best place to buy pearls in Hong Kong is at the Jade Market at the junction of Kansu and Battery streets, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon open from 10am - 4pm. We buy pearls here from a lady called Irene.
