It looks fantastic at daytime and certainly so in the evening when it is lit up. If you want to go to the top to have a commanding view of the city, better purchase the ticket beforehand on line. We got to the tower around 9.45 am so not too busy. The lift is very fast and we got out at the first observation deck. You can get photos if you want to. I am not good at heights but the bubble car was an experience not to be missed. The idea of the hyperbolic structure was invented by Vladimir Shukhov and patented in 1899. The Canton Tower is located at an intersection of Guangzhou New City Central Axis and Pearl River, facing directly Haixinsha Island and Zhujiang New Town. One can travel here conveniently via the metro trains and alight at the Canton Tower station. It is currently the tallest tower in China and the third tallest in the world, that is 600m tall, with 450m of its main body and 150m of its antenna. The tower shows a spirit of dynamic Guangzhou welcoming challenges and embracing the world. On the day of our visit, the place was swamped with lots of visitors and there's a queue for tickets going up. And we decided not to join the queue since our hotel room was located on high floor too and could still get a good bird eye's view of the city. Do note that there are different price tiers and each will bring you to different levels of the tower. Generally, the more you pay, you will get to the taller decks and that also include some exciting monorail rides at the top of the tower etc. Some ticket packages also include a buffet meal at the restaurant. And if you are not going up, you can still walk or shop around at the shopping next to it but things here are costly as it's touristy. Overall, the tower looks nice and gigantic.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 27, 2023

You would need to see the tower from huacheng instead of going straight to the bottom of the tower. From afar, it looked majestic overlooking the Pearl river. The tower lights up at night which makes it even more outstanding.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 22, 2024

I went to canton tower just once even though I live in Guangzhou and always have guests to bring there. It's a very crowded place and to be straight a bit overpriced. But still ”must-see” attraction in GZ, no doubt. We celebrated my wife's birthday on the top floor restaurant and I'd not recommend eating there even if you're very hungry. The food was looking nice but absolutely tasteless and in the end disgusting. Instead of doing anything inside or around canton tower, I'll recommend having dinner in Canton place or in any well-rated restaurant in GZ. Also for a better view its good to check the weather because if it's a bit crowded and you hardly see the building 1 km away means it's not the best day to go up to the tower. As an any big attraction in China, it's better to catch it during the sunset. You'll see how the city getting darker and puts the lights on and totally changes from its boring grey fog to the multicolor silhouettes.

I'm sure on a regular weekday when nothing else is going on, this might have been a pleasant experience. However, I have now learned to never ever visit a tourist spot on the weekend of a public holiday. Perhaps if there had been signs outside warning me of the horrible experience I was about to go through we would have gone back to the hotel. Instead, the chaos from the very beginning should have clued me in. We bought tickets online a day before going, thinking that would be helpful. Nope. The SMS we received said to go to the East or West ticket office to pick up the paper tickets. Turns out, we waited 72 minutes just to get into the West ticket office. Our kids finally thought life was about to get better after being in line in the heat of GZ outdoors for 72 minutes... but wait, there's more. They trick you into thinking you can now enter the tower. Instead, you have to wait another 70+ minutes inside for the elevators. I'm not exaggerating at all. It was a total of 180 minutes from the time we go in line to the time we got to the top. Oh but wait, there's more. Once we got to the top, we had to wait in another line for the smaller elevator to take us to the top of the top. Oh, and then we had to wait in another long line to go back down. By this point, the kids were all so exhausted and didn't care about the view whatsoever. Neither did I to be honest. We took our pics and quickly left. But... turns out there were too many people so the entrance to the subway was closed. They tried diverting us to a different subway entrance (in which we had to push our way through to reach), only to find there was another hour or so wait to get onto the subway. So we tried convincing our kids if they could just walk a little further (45 minutes), we'd get them any treat they wanted the next day. Yup, we had to walk back to our hotel because we couldn't get on the subway. So, ladies and gentlemen, I do hope you read this before going. My number one advice is do not under any circumstance, visit on a public holiday. It won't be fun.

We were already put off by the taxi trying to rip-off without using the meter, so not in the mood for further difficulties. I'll give you the tips anyway. Best to visit on a clear night for the city light show. Main entry is at the West Entrance. Take your passport. First go to a machine at back right, scan your passport and receive an ID ticket. If you need to enter details, hand-draw your letter on the left grey panel, press OK, then the right panel pops up with a range of English and Chinese characters. Tap on the letter to match and press OK. Then draw your next letter etc. An ID ticket is issued. Take to ticket office and buy a ticket, either the lower view, upper view or a combo with bubble wheel and/or zip line jump. There is a discount concession ticket for seniors > 60 if you manage to explain. Or buy online for a timed entry, but you still need to obtain the ID on arrival. No English is spoken or displayed in the ticket office. The Tourist Office next door may provide an officer to come and help you. Shame we didn't have the patience to make it through, as I was looking forward to the view. Anyway we saw the lights walking around the river front and central park, which were really nice.

The Canton Tower is quite remarkable! On the top, you can take the "bubble tram", and see the city below. When we visited, the smog limited the view quite a bit. Nonetheless, it is a breathtaking experience, and well worth a visit.

The second tallest TV tower in the world. Built at the beginning of the 21st century. The height of the TV tower is 600 meters. Up to a height of 450 meters, the tower was erected in the form of a combination of a hyperboloid bearing mesh shell and a central core. The hyperboloid design of the mesh shell of the Guangzhou TV tower corresponds to the 1899 patent of the Russian engineer V. G. Shukhov.

One of the best places to visit in GZ. Love the surroundings the place is very organize and green. The tower itself is very unique with its design and stylish. I didn't go up to the top just took photos on the ground. Maybe the view during daytime is not as beautiful as during night time because of the position of the sun the photos taken were too bright. If I have another chance I would really want to go during night time.

One more question. I plan to go to Guangzhou during the National Holiday break. It's not difficult to predict there will be lots of people who want to go on top of the Canton tower. In my case I would like to be at the observatory deck during sunset time. How long will it take to me to buy the ticket? Any rough idea? Do you think it is possible to eventually purchase the ticket in the morning for the afternoon?
I don't think I will buy the ticket for the bubble tram but if I changed idea, would it be possible for me to buy it once I am at the observatory deck? Or do I necessarily need to buy the bubble tram ticket at the ground floor?
Thank you very much in advance for your answers and suggestions.
Daniele.

You can't get any ticket once you reached observatory deck
I is not mandatory to buy bubble tram
There are many packages and individual tickets
In normal days it take 15min on counter
National holiday It will be crowded only one time check on website is it open or not on national holiday

Hello there,
I have a question. If I purchase only the ticket for the observation deck, is it also possible to walk outside or do I have to buy a different ticket? I am not interested in purchasing the ticket to get on the bubble tram. I only would like to walk outside once on the top? Is it possible to do so with an ordinary ticket?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Daniele.

In the tower on the first floor you can buy a ticket. But see that this day was clear weather. If there is a bad time, you will spend this money in vain. If you want to look at Guangzhou from a height for free, go to the hotel four seasons on the 70th floor, there is a restaurant where you can drink coffee and make beautiful photos.

Hi 77sharifah- this tower was open around 2010. I did not specifically noticed the wheelchair aspect, but there are many hostesses around, and I think it's best for you to enquire directly with them.

Hi 👋.
I wish to know if a colour photocopy of my passport is enough for me to enter the tower. I will be visiting the tower in January. Visibility wise, Is this a good season? What is the best time of day to visit? Thanks for your help.

Don't know about the Weather forecast in January but you need your passport if you want to go to attractions in China. In most places foreign people are required to show a valid passport and visa. We visited the tower in the afternoon and it was not very full as they are well organised and they have many lifts taking visitors up to the tower. I am british and went there in August and it was so hot

There are different pricing for entering different levels on the tower. The higher the more expensive it is.
If I’m not wrong, it should range about 50-150 yuan based on the different heights.
