Daisetsuzan National Park

Hello. My family and I are coming to Hokkaido in August. We will have a car. We plan to visit Sapporo, Furano, and Daisetsuzan National Park. We are interested in hiking, exploring the flower fields, the blue pond, Asahidake, and hopefully more. Would the Furano area be a good place to stay or should I consider other areas such as Asahikawa. Thanks!

Asahikawa and Furano are at either end of a long north-south tourist region.

Ideally, you would base yourself in a town in the middle for easy travel.

For a less rushed visit, consider at least 2 days staying in Biei/Furano.

For Asahidake, there are onsen hotels/ryokans at the foothills nearby the ropeway base station @1100m. From either Asahikawa or Biei it'd take almost 2 hours - no expressway.
