The club atmosphere of the 1930s and dinner was memorable for the group of 12. It was nostalgia to experience the life style of another era in modern day Hong Kong.

Undoubtedly this is private member only club for many local and international Who’s who. This place epitomises the glamour of 1930s Shanghai era. If it is classic elegance you wish to experience with art and antiquities from a bygone era, The China Club has it all. Boasting a sweeping art-deco interior, the venue transports guests to a bygone era, offering an enviable selection of fine wines and a menu of traditional Chinese classics. Visitors may not wish to miss out looking at the Long Bar or the Library on the top floor. The out door balcony is also a must to experience the lights and life of Hong Kong after dark. The only draw back is the small portion of food which is rather disproportional to the amount charged. In other words, it is very expensive as compared to other Michelins- like restaurants. Hopefully this should be adjusted proportionally.

Upscale delicious Cantonese food. The Dimsum and crispy pig is outstanding. Love the shrimp Dimsum (hargao) presentation. Took my family and friends here and they requested to come back again the following week.

My second visit. How lucky. Simply put if you can find a way here, go, bite someone’s hand off if you have to. Just go! Amazing food. Jaw dropping decor and ambiance. You will not regret it. One of the nicest places in Hong Kong.

Hadn't been here for a long time so it was great to see not much has changed. The dim sum is very good and the staff courteous and pleasant. The setting of the restaurant is delightful and a throw back to another era.

Same as my review in 2018, nothing has improved, there are a few good staff but mostly the male waiters in White uniform have a huge chip on their shoulder and honestly do not know why I continue to pay for a membership here after all these years, in the 90's this place was at its prime. Recently the place has just become a bit run down food wise and not memorable. Much better food elsewhere in Central, nice pictures on the walls and sculptures but after a while it loses its charm, really quite boring. To sum up, The China Club is a place i go to get attitude from waiters and mostly when I have no idea what to eat or really don't care what I'm eating. It's that forgettable! What a shame

Nice cosy restaurant that only opened to member. Went there for a birthday get together. They served nice Chinese cuisine and it’s pretty authentic. Food were served in a neat and small platter for each table, not sure if it’s the norm but I went there during the social distancing rules of 4 per table. The deco and interior were quite unique with an East meet West pictures. But the place is quite worn out and it’s time for refurbishment.

It is a private club and only members are allowed. You can ask your hotel if they have membership. Nice place to enjoy food and decorations.

I had the chance to visit china club for the first time in my life. the exclusivity of the place make people talk a lot about it but just a few have the opportunity to try it. the food was incredible and the experience unique. I want to thank AH LAM who was our waiter for the night. he was able to to suggest the best dishes. A tailored experience. during the dinner there was a noodle master that grabbed the scene a made everyone move just to see him. definitively unique. Food amazing Service stellar at least in the top 5 restaurants in Hong Kong

A must visit in hk. Either a member or a good hotel concierge can get you a booking. Reminiscent of 1920’s Shanghai this beautifully designed restaurant housed in the old Bank of China offers a step back in time. The food is westernised Chinese in my opinion but very good. Pork, fish, Peking duck and a range of vegetarian dishes. They do offer more adventurous dishes like frog and duck tongue for the more courageous. Go to the terrace bar for a view of the city and if you time your dinner right you will see the noodle man show and sometimes the tea show. Both a spectacular display of ancient culinary arts.

China Club is one of the most interesting places you can find in Hong Kong. The decoration, style, atmosphere transport you to a different epoch. Great collection of Chinese contemporary paintings. Extremely good service and very good cuisine. A must if you are in HongKong

Visited here in October 2019 on a Friday evening, and very busy . This is a Members Club and a bit of an institution in HK, offering a colonial type environment and fine cuisine. The food is excellent and well presented, and would best be described as high quality Chinese food, largely catering for the Western palate. The restaurant itself is noisy and lively, with a good atmosphere. We had a drink at the rooftop bar before dinner, which is not to be missed and has terrific views. The China Club is not inexpensive, but is certainly an experience and if you get the opportunity to dine there, then certainly do.

One has to be a member so I was very pleased to be invited as a guest of a friend who is. There were three of us so we shared a few dimsums - vegetable spring rolls, pork buns, rice noodle dish and also their recommended BBQ pork which was delicious. We drank Jasmin tea with a beautiful flower inside the glass that uncurled. We watched a chef prepare dough for pasta as we ate. The service is excellent and the decor is 1930s style with a few quirky paintings on the wall. Highly recommended.

Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
