The Excalibur Hotel & Casino offers a unique stay with its medieval theme, but some travelers feel it's lost some luster with a dated atmosphere and rooms in need of a refresh. While the staff's friendliness stands out, guests have had mixed experiences with service speed and professionalism. The hotel's location near the Strip is a highlight, yet its value is debated due to hidden fees and costly amenities. Moreover, noise can be an issue, and guests are split on the cleanliness standards. Despite satisfactory amenities, the lack of modern room conveniences like fridges is noted.

We stayed here because it was on the strip, reviews were ok and it was cheaper than many other strip properties of similar standard. Expect casino hotel service which is very different from a normal stand alone hotel. Probably 3 star property at best.

On arrival the hotel is in a great location on the strip beside New York New York and easily walkable to all the properties on the strip.
But it is so dated, with no evidence of money being used to update or upkeep the property, and the ventilation needs an overhaul- way to smoky. Avoid if you have asthmatics with you.

Before we even had time to check in we were nabbed by Timeshare type sellers offering us discounted show tickets if we viewed a new nearby property...not to hard sell but a pain especially when travelling with tired kids and you just want to get to your room.

As per usual hotel in casino set ups- a queue to check in and not at all service focussed- just a monetary transaction, keycards and vague room directions. Nothing more or less offered.

A long trek through smoky hotel and gaming area to Royal tower ( Resort tower is reported to have more dated rooms but can’t be much worse than room we stayed in). Our room had nice enough views of NY NY, Excalibur towers and partial glimpses of the strip.

Room was clean but very dated and well worn, bedside lamp hanging off the wall, furniture scuffed, carpet grubby looking. Bathroom contained 2 towels for 4 guests, 1 soap, 1 shampoo and 1 moisturiser. No in room fridge, microwave or jug/ coffee maker.

Bed was comfortable and room was quiet.

Overall a good location and affordable family price. Would only stay here again to be on the strip.

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times and this most recent time (during the Covid pandemic) has definitely been different from previous stays. The last time we stayed was in February and it was in the Resort tower....and it seriously needed updating. This time we stayed in the Royal tower and it was much nicer. Our room was on the 25th floor and faced Las Vegas Blvd....you really couldn't see much though, so if you want to see all the lights you might want to ask for a room in the Royal tower. During these uncertain times of Covid, many of the things you may be used to (I've been to Las Vegas 26 times now) are just simply not there anymore! I was amazed that one of the Starbucks was not open, nor were the Castle coffee shops. That wouldn't have been a big deal, but I have to have my morning coffee and while you would expect to be able to get coffee while you are gambling, the drink service sucked. More than once we ended up going next door to NY NY to gamble and drink our coffee. Honestly, we will probably end up staying at NY NY the next time we travel to Vegas since we spent so much of our time there. Lots of people are afraid to travel during Covid, but I have to honestly say that I did not feel unsafe while I was there. Masks were required, and for the most part people had them on, even if they weren't all wearing them correctly. We went on a Thursday thru Sunday and we noticed that Saturday was the worst day in regards to people wearing their masks properly......must be a different crowd that comes in on the weekend. Something that really surprised me was the number of kids that were here during the pandemic. I just can't get on board with young kids in Vegas and definitely NOT when they have to wear a mask. Seriously? Just plan your visit for another time. Most of the casinos we visited had handwashing stations in the middle of the floor and hand sanitizing dispensers throughout. Every other machine was disabled so that you couldn't people wouldn't be sitting too close to each other. That's great, but I would like to see them rotate the which machines they disable. I'm pretty picky about which machines I lost my money in and it got frustrating to find a machine that I liked just to find that it was disabled. If you want a late night snack you might want to grab a pretzel from Auntie Ann's pretzels upstairs or grab an order of chips and salsa at the little Mexican cafe that is located close to the Resort tower.

Decided to take up mgm on their comp room deal still had to pay the resort fee. For those with a smartphone I have an iPhone max you can download the mgm app and use your phone to gain entry into the room so no need to stand in the checkin counter. Just make sure to press the back of your phone against the reader one gal was having problems, but she didn’t press her phone against the reader.
They gave me a room in the resort tower not much of a view but could care less. One nice thing was free WiFi previously I had to goto the food court for free WiFi. During covid they provided a welcome bag with a face mask and bottle of hand sanitizer. Was happy that it’s now free parking don’t know how long that will last this alone was the reason I spent more time in downtown vegas so I don’t have to pay for my car if I visit other casinos.

Over the years I have seen The Excalibur Hotel and Casino get a bad rap in mentions as not being a good selection for a hotel on the Vegas Strip. I was pleasantly surprised to find my room large, clean, in good shape, and with outstanding housekeeping service keeping me in towels, washrags, and toiletries daily. Something many hotels are skimping on using Covid as an excuse. The casino was also modern, clean, and with a great variety of slot machines. Excalibur is also well situated on the Strip near New York New York and Bally's.

I would say the hotel location was good for a busy period as it is in the extremity of the Strip, so it is quieter and easy accessible with the Car. The Casino looked ok , I do not gamble so I am not sure about the service.
I had 2 bad experiences: the receptionist service was not respectful. I was having a yes or no question about parking that needed to be asked, it should not take more than 20 sec. the receptionist was rude and asked me to stay on the line (line for registration or checking out) which was super long as it was the 1st of January and pple are leaving after spending the new year. Not only asking me for that but it was in a rude way without even looking at me. I am paying lots of money for 2 nights in new year for the service, the hotel should afford to hire more pple for information desk or something for such services, not just having 2 staff only in 1st of January to deal with check outs. besides the check out is at 11:00 and the housekeeping tried to come and clean at 10:00 although they should wait till we check out that's the normal procedure i know from my experience in other hotels. This was unacceptable comparing to the price we payed. I recommend this hotel only if it offers less money/night comparing to other hotels from the Strip.

In Vegas for 5 nights for a convention at Mandalay Bay. So for location, it was good as it had the free Tram to and from the convention. However, 1st room we had was on 2nd floor overlooking a busy sidewalk and a trash dumpster. Not very clean - obviously not vacuumed, very dusty, peeling wallpaper. We were able to get moved after the 2nd night up to 26th floor. Somewhat cleaner, but smaller, tighter room. Rooms are not very sound proof. The staff were very friendly when we asked for anything, and helpful with getting the room changed, but packing and moving rooms was a bit of a pain as they would not move our bags for us. So we had to return to the hotel half way through our day and get relocated. Probably the most disappointing thing about the hotel was to get in and out you had to walk through the casino - which they still allow people to smoke in. In fact, we noticed that about all the hotels we ventured into to have a look. You would think in this day and age, and all the information out there about smoke, they would have changed that by now. Between cigarettes and marijuana, you can't even walk down the street without it being blown in your face constantly. And inside, it's even worse because it just hangs in the air and gets in your clothes and hair. I guess I come from a cleaner city where there are designated areas and people who want to live healthier don't have to breath it in. I would have thought Vegas would be catching up by now. At the very least the Excalibur (and other hotels) could provide a way to get in and out of the hotel without having to walk through it and breathe it in all the time. If they have a way, I certainly couldn't find it.

Firstly we booked through Virgin Holidays, I had a print out of what I had booked & paid for, after standing in line for what seemed forever we were told we had only got one bed booked, I dug out the paperwork & was told it was wrong & I would have to upgrade for $15 extra per night, I refused & said I would contact virgin & take it up with them, a room with 2 queen beds was conveniently found.
Room was tired but clean.
Everything here is top dollar, small water $5 , soda $5 , beer $9.
Look to pay $100 for 3 lunches & $150+ for dinner, breakfast will also set you back $60/$70 plus tips.
Steam room & jacuzzi was an extra $15 & over 18, & the swimming pool was closed.
On checkout we were billed an extra $180 in fees?
I asked reception for an itemised bill & was told they would email me one, I still haven’t received it.
The hotel is right at the end of the strip so if you don’t like walking pick somewhere further down.

We 1st were checked in to the 28th floor at the resort tower and it smelled horrible of Marijuana so we were moved to a room that we were told was fresh and clean however when we went into the room it was subpar I didn't want to complain because it was just annoying at that point. All the hallways smelled of Marijuana and ciggs even if a no smoking hotel rooms. I wanted to complain about the room as there was what looked like blood on the door, the curtain and possible knife marking in the connecting door. There was a smudge of blood on the bed a foot print on the bed underneath the pillow cover, it looked like either someone was dusting while stepping on the bed or when the bed sheet was laundered it was stepped on. There was trash under the bed (the lip) so it was a bit frustrating especially when I called and was told "oh you're getting a fresh and clean room" by 2 members of your hotel. Then we called housekeeping and asked for them not to clean our room and to drop towels. The person came up to drop towels and he kept knocking and I kept saying hold on, he tried to unlock the door after the 3rd knock . It was all for not because housekeeping came into our room. What was the point if I told them not to clean our room.

I tried to call front desk and hsekeeping again and the phone will ring and then someone picks up then hangs up.

The resort fees are ridiculous especially when you offer nothing but wifi, which I don't need. There's no fridge and no microwave. Some ppl stay there not for entertainment, we stayed here because we were visiting my sis in laws grave and to fight for the husband that killed her not to be paroled

It was such a waste of money and time. In addition the guest in 131 kept arguing.

I hope you do not continue to promote it as a fresh room when the room was horrid, vents were dirty, hair was in the shower there the toilet was cracked in the bowl, the bottom base had dirt on it and there was trash. Someone skipped out of cleaning that day

The toilet in my room was dirty, toilet seat had dirty dark skin marks on it, housekeeping did not sanitize my restroom and room was extremely dusty and disgusting. When I called to notify front desk they disregarded my request to change rooms and said housekeeping will come up to clean my room... 45 min later and after my long drive to get to Vegas I just wanted to rest and use the restroom and housekeeping never came so I took it upon myself to use hand sanitizer to wipe down the toilet seat. I called FD back and they said they are extremely busy, at this point all I wanted to do was check out and leave to a different resort but it being Memorial Day weekend all hotels were basically sold out or had ridiculously high rates. no regard for a dirty room from staff especially during covid, hotel staff did not care about my concerns. I picked excalibur for my Memorial Day/ anniversary vacation and got disappointed. No accommodations were made for us, staff did not care to address my concerns I regret spending my money at this resort it’s a shame because excalibur used to be our favorite.

Excalibur went above and beyond to make sure the hotel and machines are constantly cleaned and sanitized. They even blocked some machines off so there was proper distancing between people. They provided automatic hand sanitizer stands EVERYWHERE and they installed a handwashing station in the middle of the casino. They even have automatic doors and you can use your phone to access the elevators and your room instead of a physical key card. I was impressed with how important it was to them to make sure all guests stay as safe as possible. The only thing we were disappointed in was that half of the restaurants and shops in the hotel were closed, so we had to find other places to shop and eat.
