- Debbie D1 contributionWhen you have an adventurous family, you have to do your best to provide them with the best entertainment, especially during times when vacations aren't ideal. These zip lines will keep the whole family entertained as well as the people working there.Written March 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Christine GSaint Louis, MO1,381 contributionsThis is now called The Dome at America's Center. I attended 5 gymnastic events at the Dome. Each event only used half of the Dome. Three of the events were for the U.S. Olympic Trials. For the first Olympic trial event, I sat in section 128. It was a little off center, but a great view to see all the apparatuses. It also had a great view of the score board. For the second event I sat in section 323 which is on the club level, and where the seats start to curve to the side. I could still see all the apparatuses fairly well, and actually liked being a little above them, as opposed to eye level which I was in section 128. The club level also has nice areas, located by the bar, with leather seating and televisions. Also, only people with club level seats are allowed on the club level. The bar area offered acholic drinks, soda, water, and a few snacks. If you wanted something to eat that wasn't a snack, you had to go down to the concourse level. For the third trial event, I was in section 138. This was located on the side of the apparatuses by the beam and vault (for the men's events it would have been the still rings, pommel horse, and vault.) Great view for the beam and vault, and a good view for the floor exercise. It was a little too far for me to see the uneven bars decently. I also couldn't see any of the scoring or the overall scores at all. That I wasn't happy about.
The other two events I attended where for the U.S. Championships in rhythm, trampoline, tumbling, and aerobatic gymnastics. This was held in the other half of the dome from the trials. It was open seating, so I was able to get a great seat. I chose to sit near the rhythm mat in section 101, but was able to see all the events well.
All the employees I encountered throughout the Dome where very nice. Seating was marked well, and I was able to find my seats with no assistances needed. There are food stands throughout the Dome. The only food I ate while there was a pretzel, which was very good. I did notice the stand where I got my pretzel offered a hotdog, but not a burger, which I was surprised at. It also had several snack options. I did notice there was a Sugerfire stand in the Dome, for those of you who like good BBQ. If I remember right, it was near section 128.Written July 3, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They will give you a free “shot” of a beer to make sure you like it before ordering a full size. I tried the Coffee Stout which was amazing. Nice atmosphere. I think they are trying too hard with their recipe for their beer cheese soup. Too many ingredients. Beer cheese soup should be simple. We will definitely visit again.Written April 18, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nimai HariChicago, IL398 contributionsI wanted to get some pictures of the arch at sunset. I heard mixed feedback about East St. Louis, but I thought getting down the Eads bridge might be able to provide the perspective I was looking for. Initially, I was unsure if the bridge was pedestrian-friendly. Fortunately, the South side of the bridge does have a sidewalk that is separated by mid-rise wall from the vehicle traffic for you to walk on. In addition, there are several areas which have lookouts to standWritten September 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CharlieinTexasAustin, TX4,012 contributionsHad to take a few moments to admire this impressive building, a wonderful message. See photo. - Edwin NBentonville, AR50 contributionsIn and out of this venue over three days for a volleyball tournament. Parking was a bit expensive ($25/day) for weekend and Holiday, but not too far from this venue. Food options were expensive but decent variety. Staff was always around (inside) if needed. Walking to car at night was interesting and I recommend staying in groups. Some security/police presence outside/parking areas would be nice.
I would happily visit this venue again.Written February 26, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are hundreds of models of all sizes that show the evolution of aircraft, and visitors will find it informative and educational, as well as revisiting the important history of aviationWritten June 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike HSaint Louis, MO59 contributionsThe museum and site are fine, given the dearth of information about Joplin's time in St. Louis. The highlight of the visit is definitely a performance of ragtime music by a young musician named Royce, whose interpretations of ragtime music actually improved on the versions of Joplin's famous rags you may be familiar with.Written September 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WorldTravelSnobRomulus, MI222 contributionsAfter being accepted to several highly selective and selective colleges, my son narrowed his top 2 to Wash U and Univ of Chicago. He chose Wash U for numerous reasons and is in his second year here. It's a top notch school, gorgeous campus, great teaching staff, numerous on campus opportunities, # 1 dorms, excellent communication and they dont nickel and dime you with every little thing like most colleges do. Oh and generous financial aid. We hadn't even heard of Wash U until his college counselor suggested looking at it so it actually was a last minute addition to his school application list. He visited on a football invite which included a school tour and boy were we impressed and felt like it was a great fit for him.
Although there are maybe 6-10 kids who attend from his high school, he's met some great new friends and being on the football team helps too. The only thing he doesn't like is that there's nothing to do in STL and they dont have excellent restaurants. Very true, but the people are nice and mom hopes that translates to less partying and more studying :-). Some of his other school choices were NYU, Penn, USC, & Georgetown which are all in major cities with a lot ore to do and places to go unlike STL. Despite that he still enjoys it and would make the same choice again. He says, "it's only 4 years of my life & I'll go someplace urban for grad school".
Another thing I love about him being in STL is the flight is only 1 hr from home, there is absolutely NO TRAFFIC EVER (even during normal rush hour) commuting from the airport, Wash U, or our hotel area. It takes us no time to shop, eat, go from point A to B, get to/from airport, etc. which saves us so much time and allows us to get so much done while we're in STL. We would've spent more time and $ if he went to school in NYC, Philly, DC, Boston, Chicago doing all the necessary things to move in/out of dorm, get to/from campus for football games and visits. It's so easy peasy and no stress with him being in STL. And despite what people may think, the Wash U campus and surrounding area is VERY safe. This is not East STL people. Totally different area with totally different risks and issues.
There's really nothing negative I can say about Wash U. FYI - We are an AA family who live, work/school and play in a diversely populated area of the country and within an urban city. Some comment about the lack of AA or Latino population, but there is a very decent representation and my son feels very comfortable in the campus environment, has bonded with several students and feels very much a part of the culture and student body. Overall, A++++ for Wash U. If you're unsure, go visit and see for yourself. It's the best kept secret of selective schools in the country.Written May 19, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Highly professional opera performed by excellent performers in a modern theater with terrific acoustics: what more could one want? What about beautifully landscaped grounds set up for picnicking on the grounds with a full service bar on premises? Well, that is there also. On the premiere of a production, a champagne toast is enjoyed by attendees on the grounds after the performance, all set amid candlelight. If you want to order one of their picnics, do so 24 hours in advance. As to the performers, they were a mix of young artists and internationally renown performers. Simply wonderful.Written June 25, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Boat-CaptainGettysburg, PA934 contributionsWe visited on a week day and there was lots of covered parking and decent social distancing on the property. There are many gaming options with a variety of slot and video poker machines. Most of the public areas and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. There were not many dining options during our mid-day Thursday visit, but we did find a meal that was good at the sports bar.Written April 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jwbulldogsSaint Louis, Missouri801 contributionsI'm here to watch the St Louis Bilikens men's basketball home opener. Great Place To watch basketball, great fans. The staff has been great. The only bad thing for me is that it is cashless. I, like many others, prefer to pay with cash. Therefore, I decided not to get any snacks even though I wanted some.Written November 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patti TSaint Louis, MO3 contributionsexcellent performance, except for some female "celebrity", can't recall her name. Very weak. New director needs a message: Rep audiences don't need a 'name" to be motivated to attend. The quality of the Rep speaks for itself.Written October 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lynn SSwansea, IL218 contributionsMy husband has been dying to come here for a long time and we finally decided to stop while in the area. He was looking forward to the fried shrimp a friend raved about. We got there and... no shrimp on the menu. Oh well.... We ordered the appetizer of pretzels and cheese, he got a Rueben sandwich and I got a fried fish sandwich. And we shared a dessert (Apple Pie Bread Pudding). The food was all average bar food, nothing great, average portions The service was good - our waitress kept the tea glasses filled and answered our questions. The one beer my husband really wanted was not one they were serving that day. Strike two! We spent about an hour here on a Sunday at noon for lunch. If we had got beer it might have added a little time so I guess most people spend around 90 minutes for a meal here. But for OK food and portions, and no alcohol, our bill came out to $48.00 before tip for lunch. Ouch! Not worth it at that price.Written September 24, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- L1683GIsallybBrooklyn, NY7 contributionsTodd and Lynn were wonderful - they went out of their way explaining the story of this beautiful historic house and how it was saved. Donations and volunteers are greatly needed for the restoration but it was definitely worth going to see.Written October 9, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
