Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.

The Causeway Bay (CWB) district hosts what many consider to be the overall best shopping scene in Hong Kong. Malls and shops just seem to be sprawling all around and there is plenty of dining to in the area as well.
Below is where you can find some general information about the shopping hot spots in the Causeway Bay district.
A) Times Square
This is our favourite overall place to shop in the Causeway Bay area, offering a nice range and mix of brand names in an indoor environment. Time Square is a 17-floor (including two basement levels) shopping mall that was considered the first of its kind in Hong Kong. Times Square always seems to have interesting displays and decorations on the ground and outdoor levels, particularly good around Christmas and Chinese New Year times.

B) Hysan Place
The newest addition to the shopping scene in Causeway, this is an exciting new development, with 17 levels of shopping and dining where you can find a mix of trendy, mid-range and high end shopping. Hysan Place remains a buzzing and popular new mall on the Causeway Bay shopping trail.
Location: 500 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay
C) Lee Gardens
Lee Gardens includes two separate adjusting malls, managed by the Lee Garden Group, who also manage the nearby Hysan Place. Lee Garden One is a hot spot for high-end and luxury brand names, while Lee Garden Two is a bit more accessible for those interested in mid-to-upper range brands, it is offers a bit more family friendly shopping.

F) Windsor House
Windsor House, located just outside of the large Victoria Park in Causeway Bay is a smaller mall offering mid-range and lots of child-friendly shopping, making it a good option for families visiting Hong Kong, especially after a hot afternoon in the park. Good spot for ice creams and other desserts.

G) Fashion Walk
Fashion Walk offers a different shopping experience, trying to create the main street or promenade outdoor shopping feel compared to the indoor shopping experience found at other malls in this area of Causeway Bay. Similar brand name shops on offer but also some alfresco style dining as well.

H) SOGO Department Store
Hong Kong's biggest and best department store is SOGO in Causeway Bay, this is the closest you'll find to the traditional US Department store shopping experience with 12 floors of highly varied shopping and mid to upper range brand names.

I) Jardine's Crescent
This tightly packed roadside market is Causeway Bay's answer to the Mongkok market scene in Kowloon. Here you can find bargain shopping for clothing, accessories, consumables and can practice a bit of haggling for your purchases.

In Kowloon, you visit Mongkok or Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) area for shopping malls, shops and street markets. The equivalent to these areas on Hong Kong island can be found in Causeway Bay. This district is teaming with shopping opportunities from street markets like the Jardine's Cresent to the very good Time Square shopping mall, all within walking distance. Dining options are also equally varied for street food, coffee shops, small restaurants of local and foreign cuisine as well as a few nicer establishments if required.
However, the real joy of the Causeway Bay area is the energy and people movement that can be seen, felt and admired. Masses of people frequent, pass through and use this area daily. Complimented by endless tall buildings decked out in traditional Chinese signage and neon light colours as well as the sounds of the street, Causeway Bay is a dazzling area to spend time, either for shopping of just to enjoy the atmosphere.
We particularly enjoy arriving in Causeway Bay from the Central district via the 'Ding Ding' Tram (HK$2.30 per person) before spending a few hours wondering its many streets, alley passages and malls (especially during the blazing heat of the summer months). The famous Victoria Park is nearby as is the equally popular and famous Happy Valley Racecourse.
Hint: Like the Mongkok district in Kowloon, Causeway Bay can become ridiculously crowded at times because of how popular it is with the locals and visitors alike. For a more peaceful visit, its best to come here in the very early afternoon, when the shops are open but before the crowds really begin to swell. Even Victoria Park can swell to uncomfortable numbers, particularly during Chinese New Year when the open flower market takes place here. While a spectacle to be seen, it can be difficult to enjoy due to the staggering number of visitors it sees at times.

One of the best places to do shopping in HK
Many options from low to the highest range
Non branded to top brands
Sometimes it’s very crowded

The Causeway Bay is where all the rich Hong Kong people lives. In fact we were hopping to bump into Andy Lau or some famous Hong Kong actors who have residences at the area. Nice bay to live in.

Lots of malls. Too crowded. DOnt go here if its not SALE season. prices are high and not reasonable. Lots of people too.

Causeway Bay is a heavily built up area of Hong Kong covering parts of Wan Chai (Queen's College and the Hong Kong Central Library) and Eastern district which includes Tsing Fung Street, Causeway Bay Market, the Victoria Park, the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, Jardine's Noonday Gun and the Police Officers Club.
Apart from these landmarks, Causeway Bay is known for shopping and dining. While it doesn't have the length and breadth of high end luxury brands and shops as Harbour City in Tsim Tsa Tsui, Pacific Place in Admiralty, and IFC Mall in Central, it has its own fair share of fun.
You can find at MTR exit A1 the Times Square Mall with 9 floors of shopping and another 4 floors of dining. Other malls like Hysan Place, Island Beverley and Windsor House, Lee Gardens, and Sogo at Exit D have numbers of signature shops and regional stores.
There is also Jardines Crescent Street Market (Exit F) - covering every price point from budget to luxury - where there's more fun walking through very narrow walkways. There's just so many people making Yee Wo Street crossing always alive and vibrant. Most retailers have all sorts of discounts - with SALE signs everywhere - you might get up confused and ended up not buying at all. Get lost at Causeway Bay. Its fun.

Causeway Bay is just a pure unique experience, very excited place. Time Square is always a beautiful place. Its not one of the best place for me to do the shopping since Hong kong has got other big shopping center like Habor city ..etc But for me again the unique experience worth the 5 stars.

Times Square in Causeway Bay has was one of Hong Kong’s first mega-malls and, with 16 floors holding 230 shops, this shrine of shopping still dwarfs much of the competition. This is one of Hong Kong's Top Five Shopping Malls. The real draw here is that while most Hong Kong malls pitch there business at customers who own palaces and shop with gold bars, Hong Kong Times Square offers an excellent mix of mid-range stores aimed at the average shopper. The mall is also a winning mix of local Hong Kong brands, such as the Fortress electronics store or Lane Crawford department store, with major international brands, such as Marks and Spencers and Kookai. One draw back can be the huge crowds the mall draws, and it can be crushingly packed at times.
Times Square has managed to attract some of the city’s big name restaurants, and you won’t find a better mall in town for fine dining. Highlights include the award winning Wasabisabi, one of the coolest Japanese restaurants in the city, and Water Margin, where you can try outstanding traditional Shanghainese Cuisine. Aside from that, there is also an excellent food court, which includes the inspirationally named ‘Curry in a Hurry’. The complex also includes a cinema.
Causeway Bay just is not Times Square but once you are in, it is difficult to leave in a hurry unless you miss something. Outside one finds the Green Mini Buses that are economical to use or the Trams, depending upon the direction you wish to travel. Naturally there is the ordinary buses or taxis and oth forgetting the MTR so there is no excuse not to travel to Causeway Bay!

Causeway Bay has the best shopping available in HK. Times Square, Lane Crawford, Hysan Place, Sogo, World Trade Center and street markets are all available in the area. Hui Liu Shan has really good Cantonese desserts and drinks. Bee Cheng Hiang is famous for their beef and pork jerky. Yee Shun Milk Company is known for their milk custard desserts. They are all located within walking distance in Causeway Bay. There are also a LOT of restaurants in Causeway so do not worry, after you're done shopping there are a lot of places to eat.

Planning a trip to Hong Kong with my family (6 adults and 2 kids, both aged under 5) I've heard that Causeway Bay is one of the prime areas to stay at. Could anyone recommend some good vacation rental places in and around this area? Looking to travel in the first week of May for 6 nights. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hong Kong is incredibly small. You can stay at Causeway Bay, or North Point. Prices are various, depending on your budget. Best stay is the Peninsular Hotel in Kowloon, or the Conrad just behind the Pacific Mall. Cheapest hotels can be found in Mong Kwok, or near Jordon Road in Kowloon.
Take the Star ferry to criss cross H.K. Harbour from Kowloon to H.k., cost only $0.30 or 25? Cents. It's an amazing ride, at night time, you have the best view of the Harbour by night.
Wander around Wan Chai by night, lots of eateries on the side street stalls, great food at dirt cheap prices.
You cannot get lost in h.K. As it is a small Island. Many people speak English.
Take the public bus to Stanley Market. Go see the Birds street in Kowloon in early morning, they pack up by 11:00.
There are 2 women's street in Causeway bay where you can buy all kinds of cheap clothing.
Take tram rides,USA $0.25? Sit upstairs, you enter at the back of the tram, pay when you leave. Have exact change, they do not make changes. $ H.K. 1.60? The tram will take you from one end of H.K. To the other.
Go to see Happy Valley , on Wednesday and Saturdays, there are races, it'll be very crowded.
Do take bathing suits, May will be so nice, there are many beaches, go by taxi, it'll be less than $usa 10:00 from harbour town side to beaches side.
These are beaches I recommend in order that I like, Clear Water Bay, (Kowloon side) big wave bay. Shek oh, deep water bay, Repulse Bay, ( the most famous, but more people). South Bay, etc
