On the population size of the wild boars, the Hong Kong Government has yet to conduct any formal research or statistical compilation in this regard, thus there is no quantitative evidnece to support such a claim. Recently, the animals have however been seen in the city more often, which can be explained by a number of factors such as climate change, poor design of refuse facilities and the continuous development of countryside. It is sad that some journalists have twisted the rise in reported sightings of wild boars as an explosion in population size of the animals and wielded it as a strong justification for the resumption of wild boar culling.
