英語要表達「偷步」，絕對不可以用steal，因其意思有「偷取財物」之意。 「偷步」在不同的情境，需要運用不同的詞彙。

(1) 【情境：學校】 偷步 — “Skip a step” 　

Working out proofs is a step by step procedure in Maths questions, so you should not SKIP A STEP.

（做數學問題時，列舉證明是一步一步的過程，所以你不應該「偷步」。）

(2) 【情境：運動場】偷步 — “A false start” 或 “Jump the gun”

（A false start 是指當「起跑槍」響起，如果其中一個參賽者偷步，賽事便需要重新開始；而jump the gun則是指未正式鳴槍已起跑。）
