Don't get this place - it is literally a bunch of rocks on the beach that is being converted into some kind of attraction. "They" slapped some letters onto rocks, created a romantic story about it, and started charging ridiculous fees to walk on the beach. Also, you can see iron rods sticking around some boulders and rocks, which made us think that some rocks are even placed there to create artificially. Also, you cannot swim on the beach.
If you go anywhere up and down the Sanya Bay, you will find almost similar settings that is just part of "regular" beach. So really don't understand what is the hype around this place.

We made our way here right after visiting Nanshan temple. Tianya Haijiao (天涯海角), which means Edges of the heaven, corners of the sea. This place was said to be the southern most point of China in many literatures, though geographically it isn't.
This is basically a beach with a park, but turned into a tourist attraction by having an entrance where tickets are needed to be purchased to enter. It's a good idea given the volume of tourists we saw coming to visit here. It gets really crowded in the evening as most folks come here to catch the sunset and cool breeze.
Inside, basically it's a beach with two famous natural rock formations. One is the Rocks of Sun and Moon (日月石) which are two boulders in the sea that look from afar like they are entwined. Hence, the "Sun" refers to "husband" and the "Moon" refers to "wife" with the rocks depicting a couple entwined. Another being the Tanya cliff with inscriptions carved on it. Other than that, it's a big park with stone sculptures. It's a nice place to take photos of the sunset as the rays break through across the sun and moon rocks. Just that sight is worth a visit here. Other than that, there are a few food stalls by the beach. So, you could have a coconut while enjoying the cool breeze and sunset.

Tianya Haijiao, where the corner of the sea meets the edge of the universe. Having read some reviews on TA saying what a nice spot this is with great scenery, giant boulders and a beautiful beach we packed our beach towels and bathing suits and headed off for a nice relaxing day at the seaside. There is only one problem with that plan, you are NOT supposed to swim here! Yes, there is a great sandy beach, with tidepools to look in and fairly calm water but don't go in. This is a place where the Chinese go to make a sort of cultural pilgrimage to the 'End of the Earth'. You can take off your shoes and wade in up to your ankles as you walk to the end, but that is all. With the sun beating down and the temp in the mid 30s hubby went for a very quick dip to cool down and received more than a few disapproving stares from the locals. The people we saw who wanted to climb too far on the rocks got whistled at by police watching from the shade of the path. But, enough about what you cannot do, here is what this place has to offer. The 'AAAA' rated national tourism site is located about 20KM from downtown Sanya (about a RMB 60 taxi fare) the entrance fee for adults is RMB 95 which seemed to us a bit pricey for a half hour walk along the coast. Once through the gates it's a short walk to the symbolic sculpture at the shore and from there it's 1.2km to the famous rocks Tianya and Haijiao. You may walk there via a shaded paved pathway among the palm trees or along the edge of the sea to dip your toes in the warm water.along the way you will pass by several other noteworthy boulders to photograph and several snack vendors. There is a small museum here and a sculpture garden of historical persons, all with connections to Hainan. There is a large park area dotted with gazebos, Cinderella carriages and other romantic props specifically for wedding photography, we saw no fewer than 10 different couples taking pictures on a sunny November day. And finally, yes the exit does pass through a seemingly endless market of souvenir stalls. So to summarize the scenery is stunning, it can get fairly crowded, and its an easy walk around the park to see it all in a couple of hours, quicker if you hire a golf cart guide. Just bring your camera and visit it as a heritage site and not a day at the beach.

The Tianya Haijiao Scenic Area is home to huge rocks, coconut trees, and crystal-clear blue water. This charming tropical coastal area has a rich historical heritage, going back many dynasties.

For me as an European traveller this is not something that gives me an experience worth remembering.
For the Chinese people it seems like heaven and they take a lot of pictures with every stone.
In my opinion, this is a tourist trap. At least if you're not from China. Would not recommend anyone to visit, if you ain't a big fan of stones in the ocean with dirty beaches.

is a good place to enjoy the beach with children and those who are 1st timer go there, best advise is go there with someone who knows that place well. as for the writeing in the stone best if have someone to translate for for you (else you be in the lost) lastly for the rocks is more then meets the eye.

Maybe it was seeing children urinating on the palm trees that we were using for shade or the beach sand that left our grand daughter black with dirt from making a castle, or the endless tourist trap of the exit, or that they charge an entrance fee for this place... I do not recommend this place at all.

What's so good about this place? The rocks. But I'm indonesian, and we have that in our place. The difference is, we didn't build anything there, we didn't put music. But its clean, free entrance and we don't do over hype.
I really hate the facts, that, I should be doing spa in my hotel, or enjoy the facility of the hotel, than spending hours to reach this place and went only for 30mins then leave.
