Domestic thriller novel Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris will be adapted into a film with a script by Melissa London Hilfers.
Wild Bunch Germany, producers Scott Steindorff and Dylan Russell of Stone Village Productions and prolific stage producer Scott Delman of Shadowfox Productions are making the adaptation based on the story of a perfect marriage gone wrong. The tale follows a woman whose dream husband suddenly becomes her worst nightmare immediately following their wedding day.
The novel, published by St. Martins in the U.S. and Mira Publishing House in the U.K., sold more than 100,000 copies in its first week of publishing in Britain and went on to publish in over 35 countries and spend several weeks on the New York Times best-seller list. Currently more than 500,000 copies have sold in the U.S. and over 800,000 have sold in the U.K. before its paperback release.
Hilfers describes Behind Closed Doors as a “gripping, modern Hitchcockian thriller exploring what truth lies beneath the veneer we all project.”
Her recent feature projects include the thriller Undone, in development with Parkes/MacDonald and Black Bear Pictures, and an untitled Emily Dickinson project for Ellen Kuras to direct for M.Y.R.A. Entertainment. Hilfers’ spec script Unfit recently sold to Amazon, with Dakota Johnson attached to star and RatPac producing. The writer is repped by Paradigm and Alan Gasmer & Friends.
Stone Village’s Russell negotiated the deal with Ulf Israel of Senator/Wild Bunch and Allison Binder of Stone, Genow, Smelkinson, Binder & Christopher.
