- Eunice MLPhilippines134 contributionsThis is the first UNESCO heritage site we visited. This is a very nice garden with typical Chinese houses and furniture. It's a place worth visiting. Try this out first before going to a bigger one.Written May 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AdMalaysia14 contributionsI visited right after the holiday season and it was pretty quiet. Highly recommended to see the ancient buildings and beautiful canals. Getting here is also easy: take a metro to Tongli station and then head out at Exit 9, then take the ART to Tongliguzhen station (basically the end station). The ART requires you to register for the electronic transport card on Wechat or Alipay. The Water Town itself has an extrance fee to 100 Yuan, but that's only at the south entrance. The ART will take you to the north entrance and I don't recall seeing any ticket counters. Regardless, it's an actual village so there are numerous other quiet entrances that you can enter for free (check your maps). Also, the south ticket counter closes at 5pm, after which it's also free to enter. The ticket ladies and security guys actually encourage you to wait till 5pm if you happen to be there at around 4pm. If you want to take a private car to the town from the metro station, pay no more than 5 to 10 Yuan. They wait outside the metro trying to pry you away from the ART.Written May 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gg309Singapore, Singapore14 contributionsLargest garden in Suzhou and a UNESCO heritage site. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!
The combination of ponds, greenery, houses etc makes it look like you’re back in the past. It’s a very nice place for photos too. Tickets are not expensive too and I recommend spending at least 1h in thereWritten December 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Compared with the lesser-known destination such as the Master-of-Nets Garden, it is much more crowded. Most of the buildings of the Lion Forest Garden are used for bonsai display. They are nice, but not unique for the Lion Forest Garden. I found that the highlight of the tour is the winding pathways through the rockeries surrounding the lake. It may take you around one hour to go through all the winding pathways, and you will experience different views when you pop out of the pathway.Written February 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maree RChristchurch, New Zealand1,185 contributionsVery nice gardens that are very busy. We were on a tour so did not have to navigate the ticket system as were another couple of buses that arrived at the same time. There are several areas inside with water features and some bonsai trees and there are people everywhere. Well worth seeing but overcrowded.Written March 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BookwormOxford, UK188 contributionsAfter sweating one’s way through the crowds at Humble Administrator’s Garden (Zhuozheng Yuan), come to Tiger Hill to relax in relative seclusion amid trees and beautiful architecture. The pinnacle of course is Tiger Hill Tower (Huqiu Ta), a little like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, being over one thousand years old and with a characteristic tilt. My family loved climbing the stone steps in the cool shade, even in the city’s summer heat, and enjoyed ice creams and relaxation at the summit. It’s a beautiful and well-maintained place, beyond the reach of most crowds, which makes it a rare treat in Suzhou.Written August 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was with my Chinese friends in one, and I enjoyed it.
It is probably even more beautiful with more flowers in April and May.
It was a holiday, and there were perhaps too many people.
And with that, there was also a nice yes,
Next time, when I come, I go to visit the other gardens as well.Written May 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were many smaller tributaries around this canal. You can take boat rides to slowly enjoy the area or you can walk. We walked and it was quite enjoyable. Congested with tourists though, like most tourist sites in China.Written April 5, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kung Chhay P34 contributionsNice overview on Suzhou old street with river. Here you can rent clothes and dress up as it is in Han dynasty. It’s advised to visit end of afternoon if you want to enjoy day and night landscape.Written August 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Martin ASuzhou, China3,120 contributionsThe hill is an easy climb and the ancient tower is surrounded by fascinating history and geography, including a Buddhist temple, an outdoor movie area with snacks, lots of old stone stairs, and a bamboo forest. It's a very photogenic venue.Written October 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
