넌 어디에 Where Are You – 태일 Taeil (블락비 Block B) Guitar Tab

넌 어디에 (romanised: Neon Eodie; translated: Where Are You) is a solo by Block B’s main vocalist, Taeil. Written by Taeeul, it is one of the tracks on Block B’s first studio album, “Blockbuster”.

Though the song arrangement is simple, it’s easy to fall into the emotions of the song. The melody of the song works very well to push the song to the next level of high as it progresses from the verse, pre-chorus, chorus, and finally reaches a climax in the bridge section.

The lyrics in Korean work very well with the melody. They speak of regret over a love that has ended, and the wish for the lost love to return – perhaps a story that has been told over and over again – but it’s something that most people can relate to.

Taeil sang the song with sensibility and was able to convey the melancholy of the song. It gets to me especially at the part when he sings the increasingly higher notes in the bridge that push the song to the climax, and then going into the last chorus.

The song, and Taeil’s voice, just grows on you. At least that’s what I think.

I had quite a bit of fun figuring out the song. There are a few chords in the pre-chrous and bridge that do not belong to the tonic key, so it was satisfying to be able to figure them out. Challenging but doable.

Subconsciously, I avoid playing in the key of F most of the time – so that I don’t have to play barre chords. But playing in the key of F isn’t really that difficult, so I’ve this song in its original key – no need for a capo!

Here is a live version of the song. It’s a little different from the album version – Taeil sings half a step lower in the key of E and does not sing the first two lines of the second chorus. There is a fancam of another live version where Taeil sang very much better – he nailed it basically. Worth checking out.

Lastly, here’s the English translation of the lyrics:

Where Are You

I have made you cry again
Tears are falling from your beautiful eyes
We are breaking up again
Your beautiful face
Is slowly getting further away

I’m thinking it’s for the best
This frustrating love is now over
Even if I vowed to never think about you again
Why am I looking at your photo again today?

Your expressions and your beautiful smile
That made me smile at times
Your mistakes and your voice
To me, they’re so vivid
Your grumbling and your bad habits
That made me cry at times
Your rude tone and past mistakes
I can now understand them, where are you?

I said I’ll be okay
That I will never fall in love again
Even if I vowed to live well without you
Why am I thinking only about you today?

Your expressions and your beautiful smile
That made me smile at times
Your mistakes and your voice
To me, they’re so vivid
Your grumbling and your bad habits
That made me cry at times
Your rude tone and past mistakes
I can now understand them, where are you?

Why did I try to make you fit my ways?
Why couldn’t I look at you just the way you were?
Why didn’t I know you were hurting over my selfishness?

Your tears and your deep sigh
When you began to let me go
If only I can go back to that time, I’d never let you go again
Your grumbling and your bad habits
That made me cry at times
Your rude tone and past mistakes
I can now understand them, where are you?

Come back
