Come here for the first time , we had to share table with strangers , but i dont really mind , dont wait for the pushcart ladies to come at your table , instead you approach them first , bring the bill ( that the...first server gave you ) , choose your dishes then hand your bill to the pushcart ladies so that they can mark it on your bill. This is the oldteahouse where they served the authentic ways of serving dimsum , definitely intimidating at the first time but you'll get the hang of it. Foods were delicious , we ordered layer of tofu skin , hakau , puff pastry charsiu , charsiu buns , lotus buns , chicken feet and goldcoin ( layer of liver , fat and pork meat ) . Those were all deliciouss .. they do have bakery on the first floor you can buy some snacks before going homeMore

This is the first time that we come over here. I was amazed where we were sitted the place is bright, airy and traditional in design. Nothing too over powering at all. The food tasted yum and the service was good. Cannot ask for more....The dishes serve here are all very traditional dishes. Simple but taste delicious. Pricing was very reasonable. It worked out to be under hkd 280 per person. Worth a visit.More

If you guys want to try "local dimsum", then you are in right place. Every dishes are good enough. This place opens quite early morning and crowded. The staffs bring the food cart and walking around the hall. Simple choose the food and get stamp on your card for payment later.More

It's an interesting place. The food was OK but the whole thing was about the experience. My son who had not been exposed to this environment before was quite amazed by that. The dim sum we ordered brought back the time I had decades ago....I told my son I would like to go back there again for dinner one day.More

If you’ve had dim sum before, come here to experience the way it used to be. It’s actually a piece of living history. Full of old timers including the trolley wielding wait staff who’ve been here for decades. Often noisy and bustling- don’t expect anything...fancy, but it is authentic as a presentation of the living past. Share a table with newspaper reading solo grandads, make eye contact and you just might get an insight into the old Hong Kong. Don’t expect a menu, just come early and you can choose the best baskets from the trolleys. If you can manage your expectations, many will find a visit here a huge privilege and a HK must do.More

One of the last restaurants in town where you get dim sums from carts. You might have to share a table with strangers if you are few people or alone, but in my opinion that makes the experience even more interesting. Don't miss it while...in Hong Kong.More

Maybe 10-15 years ago, i was in hk in a similar looking restaurant to this and had a terribly unfriendly experience. This time, it was a wonderful experience. Please please please be patient and they will help you despite the language barrier. If you show...attitude, they will tear you down. Haha. The food was amazing and i utterly enjoyed the experience. Noisy, dirty, messy and I REALLY ENJOYED IT. It felt so local.More

Don't let the lack of English speaking staff put you off. Head for a spare seat and prepare to be fed! Smaller selection of food early in the morning (I went at 7am), but enough to be satisfied. A guy will come ask what sort...of tea you want (in Cantonese). If you hear the word "cha", just ask for "poh leh" - pretty standard sort of Chinese tea. If you want more hot water, tilt the lid of the teapot. That big bowl of tea they pour first up is not the French equivalent of a breakfast bowl of coffee - it's to rinse your bowl & cup in (yup, found that out after I drank it - whoops...). After that it's pretty easy sailing - just point to the dishes you want when the trolleys come around. Food was delicious and fresh. Take your card to the cashier when you're done. Oh - and they don't take credit cards - just cash or you can use your MTR Octopus card to pay too if you have enough subway credit. If you're an average eater it will cost under HKD$100 for a meal (I are about HKD$66 worth, including the bonus breakfast bowl of tea :-)More

Simply awful, I can’t believe the four stars and more that other reviewers have given this restaurant. I too look forward to an old fashion dim sum experience but didn’t expect the dirty tables, utensils, floor and lack of food. The table was so dirty...that my wipes used were brown with dirt. I washed the utensils with hot water but still had to wipe everything down. There were no food cart and every time a food card came out of the kitchen, everyone made a mad dash for the food. Hence, the food was gone in seconds. What food we got were of poor quality and taste. The only good news is that we experienced no bad stomach afterwards. Simply AwfulMore

My sister & I visited this restaurant twice, plus takeaway one night as well. The actual restaurant is on the 2nd floor, via a lift. Don't forget to check out the interesting wedding cookie tins in the ground floor shop. Very little English is spoken,...but was given an english menu straight away. You will see a white ceramic dish on the table, looks like an oversized ashtray, but this is for rinsing your tea cup, bowl & chopsticks from the very hot teapot. The first night we didn't rinse our utensils & live to tell the tale, so don't stress if you forget! The next time we visited was for Dim Sum brunch & felt like locals when we knew what to do. Dim Sum is served early till around 4pm, if busy time, expect other patrons to sit with you, otherwise can get table to yourself. The trolly ladies will let you check out their baskets, as it's called out in chinese. A smile goes a long way with these older ladies, who work very hard. Tried a variety of dishes, all very good. I bravely asked for Lo Mai Gai (sticky rice & meat in Lotus Leaf) but none of the trollies had it. A waiter went off to ask if I could get it, when he came back he nodded & spoke in chinese, so I assumed he meant it was coming. 20 minutes later I realised he must have been telling me it was not available as it didn't arrive. Thats all part of the fun, so we tried other dishes instead. The evening menu is mainly Cantonese, we tried the Chicken Fried Rice, Prawns & Cashews & BBQ Pork. All delicious, but the rice was superb. Couldn't eat it all. The take away meal was good, but was a bit harder to order, they didn't quite understand what we wanted. Ended up with Lemon Chicken & plain rice, was still tasty. Loved this restaurant, great for people watching & as long as you don't stick a camera in the other patrons faces, can take photos & videos. I asked the trolly ladies for a photo first, only one said no. Reasonably priced, as food in HK can be expensive. Around $65 Aus for 2 for the evening meal & can't remember how much for dim sum.More

So, this morning I was taking my kids to try this hyped up dim-sum restaurant out at around 7:30am (not many options nearby were available at the time). My kids and I are from Canada and had completely zero clue what to expect... once we...arrived on 2nd floor, we immediately witnessed a friggin ZOO (no exaggeration whatsoever!!) Then I figured we had to grab our own open seats ourselves... right away that already made me a tiny bit uncomfortable.... but that's alright... then as soon as we saw 4 open spots, I grabbed my kids to proceed but ONLY to be yelled at by this old guy staff in Cantonese "those seats are taken!! just go check in the back!". I was just livid.... first off, you didn't need to yell and got my kids all scared... second of all, you fxxking lied!! you just saved those spots for your own buddies. As I was walking off in anger, I saw this white couple arriving... I gave them a sweet advice, "if you expected some decent service here, GOOD LUCK!!!' and they did look quite shocked to see that zoo crowd... Also, I was complaining out loud in both English/Cantonese but the cash register lady didn't give a F whatsoever... just carrying on couning the cash... This restaurant definitely gives HK Tourism a real bad name!! The place has always been hyped up by YouTubers.... if you wanna get abused and dine in a gross environment, go right ahead!!More

Excellent dim sum, as authentic as it can get. True local atmosphere, no frills, just lots of tasty food. However, ordering can be quite difficult for non native speakers - just stand up and grab things from trolley, staff will stamp your ticket accordingly. Don't...be shy.More

I was here for dinner, so there was no Dim Sum. They offered menu card with English translation. But it is very difficult to communicate with staffs and waiters because they didn't understand English. I hope they'll hire speaking English staffs who can communicate with...foreigner. Or at least add more information in English. This local place has become well known for foreigner, so it is time to upgrade the service.More

This Michelin recommended dim sum spot has the carts they push around and you select what you want off the carts. There is no menu, you have to look for what you want. We loved everything we had, and actually went back a second time....The restaurant has been around for nearly 100 years, and the history is impressive. It’s very popular with locals which should tell you something!More
