My sister & I visited this restaurant twice, plus takeaway one night as well. The actual restaurant is on the 2nd floor, via a lift. Don't forget to check out the interesting wedding cookie tins in the ground floor shop.
Very little English is spoken,...but was given an english menu straight away. You will see a white ceramic dish on the table, looks like an oversized ashtray, but this is for rinsing your tea cup, bowl & chopsticks from the very hot teapot.
The first night we didn't rinse our utensils & live to tell the tale, so don't stress if you forget! The next time we visited was for Dim Sum brunch & felt like locals when we knew what to do.
Dim Sum is served early till around 4pm, if busy time, expect other patrons to sit with you, otherwise can get table to yourself. The trolly ladies will let you check out their baskets, as it's called out in chinese. A smile goes a long way with these older ladies, who work very hard. Tried a variety of dishes, all very good. I bravely asked for Lo Mai Gai (sticky rice & meat in Lotus Leaf) but none of the trollies had it. A waiter went off to ask if I could get it, when he came back he nodded & spoke in chinese, so I assumed he meant it was coming. 20 minutes later I realised he must have been telling me it was not available as it didn't arrive. Thats all part of the fun, so we tried other dishes instead.
The evening menu is mainly Cantonese, we tried the Chicken Fried Rice, Prawns & Cashews & BBQ Pork. All delicious, but the rice was superb. Couldn't eat it all.
The take away meal was good, but was a bit harder to order, they didn't quite understand what we wanted. Ended up with Lemon Chicken & plain rice, was still tasty.
Loved this restaurant, great for people watching & as long as you don't stick a camera in the other patrons faces, can take photos & videos. I asked the trolly ladies for a photo first, only one said no.
Reasonably priced, as food in HK can be expensive. Around $65 Aus for 2 for the evening meal & can't remember how much for dim sum.More
