What a neat experience to see Bison in their natural environment. There were hundreds of them roaming free. The preserve can have as many as two thousand at at one time. Be sure to stop at the information center at the end of the trail. Very informative and enjoyed talking to the guides about the history of the area. We’ll be back in the spring when we’re told the babies are born!

This was a fantastic stop and the tour was very very interesting. A special thanks to Mrs Jacques she was so knowledgeable and provided great information about the stained glass windows and the message about Jesus.

There is so much to learn about our nation’s history. The information was displayed in an organized, thoughtful way. The docent was happy to answer questions.

This Museum was a delightful step back into old westerns. The hostess was a good storyteller, the family history was fascinating and we loved the one-armed bandit exhibit since we have seen him in person.
Extra points for being open on a Monday!

Planning our trip to Pawhuska I read about the swinging bridge. Half of my family did not think my husband and I would cross it and the other half told us to not miss anything we wanted to do. The first time we crossed we were taking several pictures... at the start, in the middle which was scary. I even took a video looking down at the boards... talk about scary. My heart was racing and my hands were shaking. I did not think I could make it back across. I made it back across but looked straight ahead. It was kind of hard to find the first time. I told my husband I wanted to go back for the 2nd time and not be bothered with my bag or phone camera. We crossed again with a trio of people (1 who was scared of heights). We encouraged her to look straight ahead and hold on. I was not as scared this time. I like that the chain link barrier to hold on was higher than waist level as that brought some security to me. We pointed out that some of the boards had holes and pieces missing and a couple had been replaced. The bridge should be respected because this is how people get across to Pawhuska to work. I would definitely recommend.

We came to Osage Hills State park the second weekend in October. It’s been a dry season- fortunately there were no burn bans. Unfortunately, the falls aren’t flowing and the creeks are low.

We stayed in the Osage tent area. It is on the perimeter of the rv section. We stayed in space “U” which we think may be one of the best, T is also a contender. Our rating is based off of space and more seclusion than others.

The bathrooms are what all the other reviews have said. Standard OK STATE PARKS. However, they have added new single stall bathrooms and single stall showers. (Picture attached). They put several sets throughout the park and that is a definite game changer.

We also visited the ranger station to get a map. Mostly, because the state park website still pretty much stinks. The people were very nice. Hours posted are 830am-430pm. We went at 10 am and talked to them a bit, bought ice, a state park sticker and learned about the park passport program (collecting stickers at each park for your passport). We noticed they locked up at 130pm and never reopened. That is unfortunate because we wanted to kayak, but couldn’t because they closed. :(

Trails were relatively easy to navigate, but they could use more signage. We did the creek loop trail, but it’s so far from the creek you can’t see the water. We also went up to lookout point and the trees are blocking the view. Dang it. We did go to the falls, they were dried up but would be cool to see when flowing.

Overall, this is usually a great weather weekend for campion in OK so we had a good time. Small little park, well kept and nice people. Definitely recommend checking it out!

We got there right before the visitor center closed and they let us in to see it. It’s a small visitor center so that will only take you about 30 minutes or so. Also, check the calendar before going to see if the visitor center is open because it’s staffed on a volunteer basis. The. You can drive the 15 mile loop and pull over at the lookout areas or you can do one of the trails. The preserve is open 24/7 itself. We spent a few hours here total driving the loop and saw lots of wildlife. I do recommend going to the visitor center first if it’s your first time visiting and then enjoy the wildlife and the beauty of the area. Also, the road is gravel (FYI).

Absolutely the best cocktails and atmosphere! It's a great place for a date with your husband, girls night or to take business clients. I've done all 3! It's cozy but upscale and the owners make the experience even that more special.
A must stop if you're in Pawhuska!

The Constantine Theater is a throwback to vaudeville and it's glory days. It was originally built in the 1880's and still survives today. When C.C. Constantine bought the theater in 1919, he wanted to bring opera to the wild west oil field town of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He brought six opera shows from the New York Metropolitan Opera during 1919-1920. As a promoter, and when times change...true promoters turn to what works and makes money. So, he started bringing in vaudeville acts, motion pictures, live theater, an "onstage circus," The Constantine closed in 1970, but a local group from Pawhuska saved and rehabbed the grand old Constantine in 1987. Live theater, regional and national musical acts, and yes...ballet has been the acts that are now calling the Constantine home. The renovated Constantine is beautiful, and a great place to witness "live entertainment." I have seen several musical acts play at the Constantine, and have found there isn't a bad seat in the 589 seat auditorium. When in Pawhuska...treat yourself to a show in a true historical theater!

After the Mercantile we made our way up and down the streets of pawhuska enjoying the little shops. The Bucking Flamingo was neat. Yes we had to get pictures in the seats out front.
