I liked this place, but I wasn't as bowled over as others leaving reviews. It's def fit for purpose, the bed is comfy, the bathrooms and common areas are clean. The décor is wicked. The location is alright, 5-10 mins walk from the main bus station and there are decent local bus/tram connections. The sauna is an excellent touch but it was hit and miss (one eve it was like a proper sauna and the next eve it was like a warm room). Front desk was also hit and miss, one guy was super nice, I was cold in the room and he organised a heater and an extra blanket, two girls on reception were so so, not overly friendly and didn't have many tips for Stockholm (they were not at all rude). It had a friendly hang out atmosphere but I also found it a tiny bit cliquey which isn't a comment on the hostel. I was able to leave my case there and explore which was good and the restaurant next to it is well nice.

This is one of the best Hostels I have every stayed at: warm & soft-hearted. The staff is extremely friendly & helpful. The rooms are nice and very clean. The free tea, water and coffee is a really nice feature & I loved to enjoy a cup while sitting on one of those cozy window benches. The "no shoes"-rule makes you feel at home. Really nice interior design with a lot of love of detail. I highly recommend this Hostel & I would definitely stay there again.

This has been the best hostel experience of mine so far. City Backpackers is located in a great spot that is very easy to walk to most of the things I wanted to do and see. The environment is extremely welcoming and was very comfortable. Amenities here are awesome. I highly highly recommend staying here, and I will certainly be staying here again next time I'm in Stockholm.

I was really surprised that the most popular hostel in Stockholm had such a good standard for that kind of prices. The place is really large, many facilities for backpackers - you have there everything you need to. Location is amazing and there is a bar right upon. Everyone is very friendly, either in the hostel and the city. Next time in the capital of Sweden I would definitely stay in the City Backpackers one more time : )

Very clean, great crowd, hostel layout and facilities were clean, felt like a ‘home’ and facilitated guest interaction. We’re in the 12 bed dorm. Free pasta and dinner, great activities, friendly staff, great location. Secure rooms and entry, felt very safe. Best experience here, could not fault it.

Stayed in this hostel for 3 nights - it is in a really great location near the central station and bars. The hostel facilities are great - there are lots of common areas including a great kitchen with free pasta, a lounge with a TV and games, free wifi everywhere and there is even a Sauna! Our room (Grinda) was spacious with ample storage space and plug sockets (would have liked a curtain on bed though!). The rooms and bathrooms are clean. I had a great experience here and would highly recommend it to others.

This hostel is great. I made some amazing friends and amazing memories at City Backpackers Hostel. It’s in an awesome location, 10 minute walk to the train station and close to some good bars. The hostel doesn’t serve alcohol so if that’s your thing, remember to grab your own booze! The free pasta is a bonus and hostel staff member Kyle really knows how to clean a kitchen.

I've never stayed at a hostel before, but this stay definitely made my fears less present. It looked like a hotel in the lobby and the only aspects that made it seem like a hostel were that we had to make our own beds and that there were main common spaces. We bought out our own room, so we didn't have the same experience that most hostel-goers would have. Our suite had two bathrooms and a sauna with a private kitchen. The staff here were very knowledgable and helpful! There's also a restaurant right next to the property where we ate. Luggage storage was convenient and location was central.

First booked 2 nights because wanted to make sure everything was fine. After all, I stayed there for my entire vacation of two weeks because I had nothing to complain about. First, concerning all the negative critics: they should just get over having big expectations when they are staying at such a hostel (!) in central Stockholm and pay so little money for it.
With Covid, reception is only open from 9am to 4pm which might be too restrictive depending on your needs. However, the staff made any effort to accommodate my needs. I could even text them. They were very nice.
Hostel gets cleaned daily. Bathroom facilities are modern and very nice. Yes, the building is rather old but it isn't groce in any ways. Also, you shouldn't be surprised that the hostel has its facilities across the ground floor and basement.
Stayed at a 4-bed room, kind roommates. There are some longstayers, but the hostel kicks them out if they don't behave as one expects them to.
Overall, I would definitely stay there again if I came back to Stockholm. If you are looking for a hostel yourself in the city, look no further than this place (:

Clean and central, the room was quite spacious. Not many toilets and showers (during busy times I had to queue to have a shower and brush my teeth). Great location, very central. Reception is open after 3 pm - cannot do check in earlier. Complimentary tea and coffee, you have to pay for bed linens and towel. Kitchen in the basement (always super crowded) unless you eat after 10pm. Overall recommended.

Hello Elsa! Apologises for delayed reply. Yes, we are open on Christmas Day. We are open all year round. In Sweden Swedish people celebrate on the 24/12 and then many people like to go out for food and drink on the 25/12. Opening times for restaurants vary. Here is a weblink about Christmas Eve so they might be open on Christmas day too on thatsup Guide online. Also checkout visit Stockholm website. I would put the links on here but the website will not allow me to do this. Some shops are open too on Christmas day. We have free ice skates to borrow if you would like to go ice skating. Kind regards, Charmaine City Backpackers Hostel Stockholm Kind regards, Charmaine City Backpackers Hostel Stockholm

Hi Jack, We only offer luggage storage for check-in guests checkout guests on the same day only. If you wish to store your luggage overnight or more days, unfortunately this is not possible at our hostel. Central station and City Bus terminals have lockers to use at a reasonable fee. Any normal padlock size would fit in my opinion. I didn't have one so I bought one from the hostel for not very big price. It might have been 2€ or something like that. I still have it somewhere...

1. Breakfast is 55 SEK. It's worth the price as everything is expensive in Stockholm. The breakfast includes a sandwich, a glass of juice, a jar of yogurt and a jar of fruit. Coffee, tea, and water are free of charge. Cereal is also provided. 2. The cheapest public transportation from Arlanda Airport to Stockholm Central is Flygbussarna (airport shuttle bus). Buy the ticket online in advance for 99 SEK. If you buy at the counter, the price is 119 SEK. If you want to take Arlanda Express with lower price, you can buy it 90 days before the departure and get 45% off. When you arrive at Stockholm Central, going to the hotel is only a walking distance about 600 meters. Good luck to your trip!!
