What resorts in Puerto Vallarta are handicap accessible
We had a friend who lived in a wheelchair, and he said the Marriott was great for him. :)
I agree with the Marriott as a suggestion. Pretty hotel with lots of space. I think generally the newer hotels and resorts in The Marina and the Hotel Zone would be the area for you to focus on. More south in the city (Centro/downtown and Zona Romantica/old town) are more rustic and would be more difficult to navigate.
I'm at the Sheraton right now. It seems very accessible. I've seen a couple people in mobility scooters making their way around the resort. The only thing I would question is pool access. I've only seen steps.
Really, jtwiz? I stayed at Sheraton 3 times in the past...but it's been awhile.
Sheraton used to have one of those handicap-chairs which lower mobility-compromised people into the pool. No more? If not, that's too bad.
Marly, not at the hotel pool (that I can see). I'll walk by the vacation club pool later today to see if one there.
Villa del Palmar has handicap accessible rooms
The pool next to the beach has umbrellas poolside and I have seen some people with mobility in the first row of Palapas on the beach, just infront of the pool. The entire resort is accessible with ramps where there are stairs.
Edited: 1 year agoI agree that the Marriot is considered the "gold standard"! of accessibility.
My problem is there are many forms of "handicapped" (visual, cane users, etc) Most places outside of downtown are wheelchair and scooter accessible, but that's about the extent of it.
Very few places realize the value of good railings, espcially if there are not walls right there, for people to use as a support if ncessary.
The bottom line is you the potential guest have to get the answers you need--particularly if you are not confined toba wheelchair.
