Non-swinger couple's review of Hedo - Resorts Hedonism (Hedonism II Resort)

This was our first trip to Hedo. I was a little nervous and my wife was petrified. We are not swingers and don't intend to become swingers. We originally planned to "try" a nudist vacation at Club O in St. Maarten 2 years ago, but hurricane Irma change that plan. Jamaica is one of the few places in the Caribbean with nude beaches, and Hedo is one of the very few resorts that offered a clothing optional beach and a nude beach to ease into it.
Upon arriving, immediately after check in, my wife saw naked people walking around all over the grounds and she was very startled. She was scared to leave our room at first. The first hour we were there was a little rough on her.
By the end of that night, the friendly staff, the awesome tour that we got of the entire club, the beautiful grounds, the great food and top shelf drinks, and the super friendly people started to change her mind. I think the tour was an awesome idea because it took us to the nude side and everyone was friendly even though everyone in our tour group had our clothes on. We saw the pool and hot tub (which did have some PDA in progress), and the beautiful Kama Sutra palace with their awesome staff.
By Day 2, my wife and I were walking to our beach chairs with our clothes on, and then quickly removing them and settling into our chairs. It was a new sensation to have people walk by and say hello, but not stare. Staff members were always cleaning up the grounds around you, but never looking at your "parts". If they spoke to you, it was to ask if you needed anything, and they looked you in the eyes. We went snorkeling that day and then attended a Kama Sutra class that evening (no sex involved until we got back to our room). The Kama Sutra staff was incredible (Roger, Michael, Adriana and others) and made us feel very comfortable. We did the class with our clothes on, but many did not. There was no pressure either way.
By Day 3, I was walking completely naked from my room to the beach and the bar/pool. My wife went down to a 2 piece bikini (which she hasn't worn in 20 years). We enjoyed the water sports, drank a lot, and had great meals. We had one of the best massages in a beach cabana that we have ever had (no sexual touching involved). We also met a really nice couple that went out of their way to introduce themselves. I'm pretty sure they were swingers, but they could instantly tell that we were not, and the topic never came up. It was just like having a conversation with your next door neighbor (but they were naked). That was the turning point in the vacation. Meeting people and doing social things with them made all the difference. We learned that people at a "sex resort" aren't any different than we are, and the aren't scary or intimidating. They were very respectful of our lifestyle, as we were of theirs.
By Day 4, my wife was fully immersed in the resort. She still didn't walk around naked but she wore a very sheer coverup around the grounds, and easily went naked from her beach chair to the water and back. We layed in some of the covered cabanas during a brief rains, and swam in some of the small private pools when there were no other people in them. There was some PDA happening occasionally in these common areas, but my wife eventually adopted the "live and let live" philosophy. No one disturbed us and they weren't loud or disruptive with their PDA. Everyone pretty much ignored them. Mind you, this was all on the prude side. We never made it to the nude side beach or pool where there was a lot more PDA, or so I hear.
Evening entertainment was great and the in-house entertainers were very talented. The amateur costume contests were fun, and it was great to see people of ALL ages and sizes get up there and show off their sexy outfits. The late night dance parties around the pool were also fun. The later and hotter it got, the more clothes came off. We didn't stay very late at those because it made my wife uncomfortable to be the only ones fully dressed, but no one was rude to us. It was a carefree do-what-you-want atmosphere.
One night, we had a private candlelight dinner on the beach and the Chef Anthony went out of his way to customize a menu that worked with our food restrictions. The food at all the restaurants were the best I've had at any all inclusive. The rack of lamb I had at the Italian restaurant was cooked perfectly, like a super tender filet mignon.
In the end, we both agreed it was the best vacation we have ever had. We really re-connected thanks to the Tantra workshops.
If I had to give the Hedo Management one suggestion, it would be to have more mixers for newbies. Nearly everyone we met at the resort had been there 8+ times and had a group of friends they socialized with. It did make it difficult to know when you should ask people if could join them for dinner since you didn't know if they had other people joining them. We had some questions about nudist etiquette that we eventually figured out but having another couple to ask would have been great. I'm not sure how to organize it, but it would awesome to have an organized dinner or something the first night to help meet people and get accustomed to Hedo.
We do plan to be repeat customers but may book through a group next time.
