A must visit in hk. Either a member or a good hotel concierge can get you a booking. Reminiscent of 1920’s Shanghai this beautifully designed restaurant housed in the old Bank of China offers a step back in time. The food is westernised Chinese in...my opinion but very good. Pork, fish, Peking duck and a range of vegetarian dishes. They do offer more adventurous dishes like frog and duck tongue for the more courageous. Go to the terrace bar for a view of the city and if you time your dinner right you will see the noodle man show and sometimes the tea show. Both a spectacular display of ancient culinary arts.More

Nice cosy restaurant that only opened to member. Went there for a birthday get together. They served nice Chinese cuisine and it’s pretty authentic. Food were served in a neat and small platter for each table, not sure if it’s the norm but I went...there during the social distancing rules of 4 per table. The deco and interior were quite unique with an East meet West pictures. But the place is quite worn out and it’s time for refurbishment.More

I had the chance to visit china club for the first time in my life. the exclusivity of the place make people talk a lot about it but just a few have the opportunity to try it. the food was incredible and the experience unique....I want to thank AH LAM who was our waiter for the night. he was able to to suggest the best dishes. A tailored experience. during the dinner there was a noodle master that grabbed the scene a made everyone move just to see him. definitively unique. Food amazing Service stellar at least in the top 5 restaurants in Hong KongMore

Same as my review in 2018, nothing has improved, there are a few good staff but mostly the male waiters in White uniform have a huge chip on their shoulder and honestly do not know why I continue to pay for a membership here after...all these years, in the 90's this place was at its prime. Recently the place has just become a bit run down food wise and not memorable. Much better food elsewhere in Central, nice pictures on the walls and sculptures but after a while it loses its charm, really quite boring. To sum up, The China Club is a place i go to get attitude from waiters and mostly when I have no idea what to eat or really don't care what I'm eating. It's that forgettable! What a shameMore

Undoubtedly this is private member only club for many local and international Who’s who. This place epitomises the glamour of 1930s Shanghai era. If it is classic elegance you wish to experience with art and antiquities from a bygone era, The China Club has it...all. Boasting a sweeping art-deco interior, the venue transports guests to a bygone era, offering an enviable selection of fine wines and a menu of traditional Chinese classics. Visitors may not wish to miss out looking at the Long Bar or the Library on the top floor. The out door balcony is also a must to experience the lights and life of Hong Kong after dark. The only draw back is the small portion of food which is rather disproportional to the amount charged. In other words, it is very expensive as compared to other Michelins- like restaurants. Hopefully this should be adjusted proportionally.More

My second visit. How lucky. Simply put if you can find a way here, go, bite someone’s hand off if you have to. Just go! Amazing food. Jaw dropping decor and ambiance. You will not regret it. One of the nicest places in Hong Kong.

Hadn't been here for a long time so it was great to see not much has changed. The dim sum is very good and the staff courteous and pleasant. The setting of the restaurant is delightful and a throw back to another era.

I'm living in Hong Kong since 6 years, and I have been a couple of times to the China Club. The food was never great, but the ambience was always something special and overall it was always a nice evening. So I expected a similar...experience when I returned recently - and was shocked! Everybody knows that their "Member's only" etiquette is a scam as every Concierge in the city can get you a table, but now it seems like just any tourist can get a seat, and of course nobody cars about the dress code anymore. We preordered food as we did a tasting for a party - and to summarise it - it was the worst Chinese meal I had in Hong Kong! They started serving food about 2 minutes after we sat down - not even asking if they could start, or a simple hello. We had 5 courses, all but the soup were cold, presentation awful and quality substandard. Service was poor as well - some waiters don't seem to be trained at all! For the wine list - pay attention when it says: "Rare wines". That does not refer to the wine itself, but only means they have only a few bottles left! The wines we wanted to order they had one 1 bottle left! I complained to the manager who could not care less. Please don't go there. Maybe just have a look inside and then leave - every street food offers better food than the China Club. Disgrace to Hong Kong.More

I was utterly disappointed by the service during dinner. We were a party of 20 from my office. All senior people, executive committee level. Overall, great setting, decent food, however what a very unfriendly staff... no smile, abrupt, hardly speaking English. One of them was...topping wine mindlessly, trying to maximize the wine consumption at the table without any care : we had a middle range red wine on open service during dinner... Then when our CEO joined, we ordered a premium bottle (talbot saint julien, over 2000 HKD). One waiter poured wine for our CEO and another guest and put back the bottle on the service table... Then a few minutes later I caught another staff topping up wine glasses with the premium wine, mixing the previous wine with the Talbot like nothing. This is a crime to wine lovers ! and an embarrassment to China club really!! I would certainly not recommend again.More

I was lucky enough to be taken to the China Club by a member for a buffet lunch. No idea what it cost but I assure you it was really expensive because the food was incredible. This is no ordinary buffet it had everything, Lobster,...prawns,....well everything really and it just kept coming. When a platter was finished it was immediately replaced by another. The preparation and quality was exquisite. There were even 2 chefs preparing steaks freshly cooked and live fish and seafood from a tank. The eating areas and surroundings were impeccable. I would highly recommend a visit if you know of a member who can take you.More

Standard Chinese fare for the Western palate. Historic setting. Great view from the balcony. Nice library and nice private dining rooms. A lot of tradition resides here. Art collection is good.

Visited here in October 2019 on a Friday evening, and very busy . This is a Members Club and a bit of an institution in HK, offering a colonial type environment and fine cuisine. The food is excellent and well presented, and would best be...described as high quality Chinese food, largely catering for the Western palate. The restaurant itself is noisy and lively, with a good atmosphere. We had a drink at the rooftop bar before dinner, which is not to be missed and has terrific views. The China Club is not inexpensive, but is certainly an experience and if you get the opportunity to dine there, then certainly do.More

Attended an event at the China Club. It’s a lovely location at the TOP of the BOC building. Food though was fairly average - the duck was fairly disappointing and so was the soup.

We came to the restaurant which we thought was “members only” with the best Chinese in town as a highlight to our trip. They sat us in a horrendous table tucked in some side room where we could not see anything. Once there was a...“show” they called us into the main room where we watched someone making noodles (umm are we supposed to be wowed by that). The decor was normal at best. You find better decorated Chinese restaurants in London for sure. The food was TERRIBLE ! We hardly ate anything and the Peking duck was mediocre at best! Don’t bother honestly, it’s just a tourist trap and definitely not worth it AT ALL. There are so many cleaner places you can dine in Hong Kong.More
