This was a fun outing. Is it something that will blow your mind? No. But it’s different and worth the few bucks it costs to go. Very instagrammable. Also btw, this one is MUCH better than the Osaka one. If you have to choose one then choose Tokyo.

Way too crowded even though you arrive at the gate before opening hours. Pre-purchase the tickets online and show QR code to skip any chaos at the queues. Water elements are interesting but the unruly crowd, ushering of guests and short allocated time at some exhibits make this a sometimes nerve wrecking experience. Still worth a visit

Is it a tourist trap? Yes. Is it worth going? Yes. It was a very fun and interactive exhibition. I was wow’s by the lights and had a great laugh during one of the art work. I spent about 1 hr and a half there. Expect to get your foot wet and don’t wear any dresses. There isn’t much food around, but I do recommend trying the veg ramen before you enter. It’s right out side teamlab. It is a bit over priced, but it was packed with favor so I think it’s worth it. They are pretty prompt with the time slot you have so be on time. The line looks long but it moves quickly. the staff are friendly, but they do give you that push to keep it moving when you are inside so there are some art pieces you can’t enjoy longer than you expect. I think this is a great 1 time experience.

This must be one of the most visited attractions in Tokyo for young foreign tourists. There are realms of reviews including detailed description of each individual attraction so I will not repeat them here. It is an interesting experience, especially if you could figure out a way to avoid the crowd. Now this seems impossible since the place is usually booked solid, with perhaps a few evening slots unfilled on the weekdays. I went on a rainy afternoon in a week with mostly fine weather - and I was like an hour early. There was significantly less people there than I anticipated, and when I gingerly asked if I could go in during the slot preceding my scheduled time - I was told that it was normally not possible (each slot would be full) but since there weren't so many people there, the staff made an exception for which I was truly grateful (the alternative was not very attractive - there was nothing interesting on a late afternoon in the neighborhood). They limit the number of visitors in each attraction, and there was still a brief wait for some of them, but I was able to enjoy most of them quite thoroughly by finding my own space within the room. Still, all the wonderful IG pictures not withstanding, it is just not possible to enjoy a truly immersive experience with all the people around even with a diminished crowd, which is a pity.

This is a busy but very cool art exhibit. It has two areas: water and garden. The water one, as the name suggests, involves walking through a lot of wet areas. The garden one has a few other installations with hanging plants and an artistic garden interpretation. They ask you to go barefooted through all of that, which makes the whole experience, unsurprisingly, smell like wet feet. Strongly. It’s busy, and they try to usher everyone through the experience at about the same pace, which can seem a bit rushed at times. We were in and out in about 90 minutes. But again, with the smell, moving quickly was not bad. The art itself makes for great pictures so it was all worth it.

This was worth the trip to Japan in and of itself. It is unlike anything you can experience elsewhere. I love the comprehensive sensory experience where rooms of intensity are separated by calming black passages. I went twice, and each time left in a state of zen, no matter the crowds or the scent of feet in the change room (it doesn't smell like feet after that). I would love to have my STEAM students build the koi room at school - if only!

Great experience. It gets busy so going early is optimal. The water side attraction was much more engaging than the garden side. Beware--there are a few rooms that may be difficult to navigate for older people or people with mobility issues. Overall, this was one of the most memorable experiences for our family and a must-do for anyone visiting Tokyo.

I recommend teamLab Planet when visiting the Tokyo area. I traveled with two teenage boys and they weren’t sure how good it would be but both agreed it was something to experience. When we arrived we had to take off our socks and shoes. We then walked up a ramp with rushing water that I think cleaned everyone’s feet well. From there we were immersed in multiple different rooms with different themes. It is hard to describe but I would definitely recommend it! Very artistic, unique, and enjoyable!

This is a display of high tech graphics and is a fun visit. I would highly recommended this attraction. Make sure to get tickets in advance for the time slot to prevent disappointment esp in high season.

Bought tickets a couple of months in advance online. When you show up for your reservation time there is still another wait with a large line outside of the entrance, although it does move at a steady pace. I found the exhibits to be insta-worthy (which is probably why everyone is coming here) and fun, but we were able to get through in a little over an hour. It's not very big at all. The flower room that they use in the promo pics is the best but they limit your time there to 5-10 mins due to the popularity. Make sure you are aware one of the rooms requires wading in water, so wearing long jeans or dresses is not advised. They offer shorts you can borrow. It was nice to do once but I would not do it again. I'd be interested in seeing some of the other teamlab locations though.
