Batman swoops into Minecraft

Ah, nightfall in Minecraft. As the moon rises, and the Overworld takes on a silvery glow, the dark depths of the forests start to groan and hiss and cackle. Usually I’d be terrified as hostile mobs creep towards me, but not tonight. I can almost imagine the silhouette of a bat against that bright, bright moon, and it fills me with more courage than a Totem of Undying. Why? Because the dark isn’t so scary now that Batman™ is swooping into Minecraft!**

In this sprawling adventure from DC and Noxcrew you’ll get to experience Gotham City as you’ve never seen it before. Claw your way between blocky rooftops or speed the Batmobile past iconic locations like Wayne Tower and the Monarch Theater as you track down the lairs of old foes. Playing as the Dark Knight himself, you’ll be tasked with an important mission, because Alfred Pennyworth is in trouble and he needs your help!

Your story begins in the Batcave, where a new Nether portal experiment has been thwarted by some familiar criminals. What’s more, they’ve kidnapped Alfred and trapped him in the Nether! Now it’s up to you to track these DC Super-Villains down through the dark city streets, recover their obsidian blocks, rebuild the portal, and rescue him. Don your gauntlets, gather your Batarang, step out from the Batcave, and take a deep breath. Ah, the sweet smell of crime in the morning! And I’m not just talking about creepers ruining my bases (the injustice!) – Gotham City is teeming with mobs, and they’ve joined forces with some of Batman’s greatest nemeses: DC Super-Villains Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, The Penguin, and more. 

There is so much to explore in this expansive open-world map and even more to discover, and it’s up to you to choose what to tackle first. Will you take the fight to your foes, and clear out their lairs one by one? Will you focus on solving The Riddler’s clues to recover what was stolen from you? Will you collect resources to complete the machines in the Batcave, giving you access to more weapons? Or will you patrol the streets in all your crime-fighting glory, defeating the hostile mobs that have chosen the wrong side against justice? I’m personally going to stick to the rooftops until I’ve crafted all the gadgets – and then set about collecting the unique ones dropped by each Super-Villain! This is not going to be like the time I hopped through into the Nether with only a cake in my inventory. Never again!

Play alone or with friends as you fight off The Penguin’s deadly drowned, Poison Ivy’s toxic mooshrooms, Harley Quinn’s pesky pandas, and more unique goons! The DLC also comes with a skin pack, and you can use any of the 18 included skins, featuring Robin, Batwoman, Batgirl, Catwoman and more to bring some of your favorite DC characters to your Overworld!

To start your Batman adventure, all you need to do is head to Minecraft Marketplace. While this DLC is not currently available for purchase on Nintendo Switch, rest assured the Caped Crusader will be swooping onto this system shortly! In the meantime, best be on your guard, because the more I think about it, the more I wonder whether Alfred’s kidnapping really was by chance… could it all be part of a villainous plot?
