What travelers are saying
- True W69 contributionsA good place to stay as it is near all the high end shopping which is an experience in itself. Generally a taxi to any of amusement is easy to get. Try one of the more well known hotels to make life a little easier for airport taxis and getting assistance.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jane HAuckland, New Zealand15 contributionsGreat experience to mix up your time in Tokyo. I went to one act which was long enough to give a taster to this traditional theatre. I enjoyed people watching the audience, many ladies in their beautiful kimonos. You have to get the audio headset or else you will have no idea what is happening! 800 yen and the best money spent, buy upstairs before you enter. You can't take photos of the show but good memories for you to experience.Written April 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bcheongShanghai, China26,743 contributionsGrander and better than Matsuya next door. More variety and more things to see and buy. Also better ambience and quality. - delagioventuLuxembourg City, Luxembourg1,424 contributionsOne of the main crossroads in the commercial district of Tokyo, with high-end shops and the Seiko flagship store accross the street.Written August 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PolisgirlPolis, Cyprus693 contributionsGreat street with loads of good shops. We came on a Sunday and it was closed off to traffic which was a nice experience, if somewhat freaky to watch everyone walking in the road. All major high end stores are represented with some other nice ones unique to Japan. Worth a visit if you want to shop.Written January 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- sfeatsSan Francisco, CA77 contributionsThis very recent trip to Tokyo where I have visited several times over the past 52 years was my first solo trip. It was well planned by me since I believe it’s easier to have a better time when you plan your trip than not. Since I have not been in my usual good walking condition, I decided to stay in Ginza, close to the good department stores that also offer a number of good restaurants to dine in. Matsuya is a superb department store with a good collection of fashionable clothiers, very good food and wine Dept. in the basement and excellent choice of restaurants on 8 th floor. I dined at Kenyan, a fine sushi restaurant twice and once at the Tempura restaurant, as a longtime lover of Japanese food, I truly enjoyed my dinners there. I also enjoyed Sake and wine tasting in the basement food Dept. around 6 pm, I was happily tasting good sake and wine free during the Happy Hour.
To summarize my Tokyo experience of 4 days in 3 words, Safe, Clean & Helpful. I enjoyed my visit very much and will return soon.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Staff were so lovely and professional.
The remainder of the shops are indeed overpriced and designed for the super elite.

Showroom is an electronics shop with Sony gear, plus some art galleries and a cafe downstairs. Heard they are moving to a new building soon.Written November 25, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TrentTravellerWillington, UK81 contributionsA great little museum telling the history of Seiko watches over several floors, each with a theme. Book in advance to confirm a time slot, but the email is in Japanese!
We worked up the building which seemed to work chronologically. A nice interlude in the hustle and bustle of central Tokyo. My late teen son found the exhibits interesting, if a bit lacking in any interactive exhibits.
We like to have visited the workshop if our trip had been longer.Written December 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was walking around Ginza one day and the sleek black exterior drew me in. Inside the design contributes to a glamorous atmosphere, which makes window shopping fun even if the store selection isn’t my favorite. Having tea in the atrium overlooking the street is nice.Written October 23, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OldjackGreater Melbourne, Australia27,968 contributionsI had been here before just out of interest and returned to this iconic store that goes back to1881 where it started as a watch and jewelry store by K Hattori. Today it is famous for expensive watches , jewelry, chocolates, porcelain and hand bags.Today it sits at the heart of Ginza on Ginza Dori, with its famous clock tower rebuilt in 1932. I poked my head in and then out for the obvious reason but it is worth a look to see an interesting building and real classy shopping--if that is your desire and capability.Written June 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LTStoneLondon, UK127 contributionsWe were lucky enough to catch a show on 26 May 2019. (Only on for 4 days in Tokyo, I believe.)
It consisted of 30 minutes dancing, then an intermission of 30 minutes (during which you could eat something - most audience members had brought food along), and then another 30 minutes dancing.
Very stylised and graceful, with much bowing and scraping - those women must have strong thigh muscles - to my western eyes, it was rather weird, but built up to a very compelling performance. Clearly, stories were being told through the singing and dancing, though it was incomprehensible to us.
Many of the audience were dressed in kimonos, and indeed, we didn't see any other Europeans there. Highly recommended. If you get a chance to go, then take it.Written June 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
