The space
The Tin Box is completely off-grid. A feature of your stay will be spending time in the outdoor bath. You’ll be soaking under the stars and feeling like you’re sitting on top of the forest.

The inside is decorated with vintage kilim, contains a comfortable queen size bed with 100% luxury linen bedding, a bathroom with shower and flushing toilet. Outside, decorated by nature, is the undercover kitchen with BBQ, gas hob and chilly bin to keep food cold.

When the fire restrictions allow you may choose to set the outdoor fire. Firewood is an extra $15 per night, please let us know if you would like some supplied. We have our firewood delivered by Greenways Trust who provide residential service and support for people with intellectual disabilities and we love to help support what they do.

In the winter things can get chilly. Please pack warm and snuggly clothes. We provide hot water bottles, ideal for those awe inspiring stargazing sessions on the hammock made for two. Be ready to hear the Kiwi and Ruru calling at night during your stay. They live here. Please don’t disturb them if you see them.

A world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life, it's a place that bestows a sense of clarity. A place where, rather than rushing through the hours of the day, you're soaking in every moment for all it's worth.

Massage Message
We are delighted to announce the Sanctuary Massage and Pamper room are offering wonderful, healing massages for our guests.
These massages are specifically to relax, pamper and soothe. Fleur and Jedidiah specialise in making people feel relaxed, and blessed with massage. Using only organic certified carrier oils and 100% therapeutic grade Essential oils, they are offering 1 hour full body massages -
$80 pp for an hour of bliss, relaxation, and trigger point therapy if needed.
Please let us know and we’ll put you in touch with them. (Not available on Friday Nights or Saturdays.)

Park your car at 990 Trounson Park Road
The cabin is a 7-10 min uphill walk so please only pack what you can carry for your stay. Otherwise let us know your arrival time and we can give you a lift with your gear in the electric golf cart.
We do have other retreats on the property so please respect the privacy of others. If you would like to explore please check with us to see if we have other guests staying.
We are proudly an inclusive stay and all guests of any background or community are welcome here into a safe space.

Other things to note
The property is 40 min from the nearest shops so remember to stock up with supplies.

The last few km of your journey is gravel road.

The cabin has a solar powered lighting system. You may like to bring a power bank to charge devices or we can charge them for you at the main house.

We have a small shop 'Wild Supplies' at the main house. It has little treasures we love and a few essential food supplies such as pasta, pasta sauce, crackers. Open on request.

Because our philosophy is centred around permaculture and rewilding, we ask that you take your non-compostable rubbish with you (otherwise it is transported to Dargaville where it is transferred and taken to Whangarei to be placed in a land fill - not cool)

There is mobile coverage but otherwise off the grid. The lights are powered by solar.

Firewood is available for $15 and can be supplied if there is no fire ban in place.

We are in the process of ‘Rewilding’ the property, leaving nature to repair itself and find its own balance with as little human intervention as possible. We challenge the concepts and weeds, tidiness and neat edges and embrace the beautiful chaos of nature.
