Rylan Clark has opened up about the ‘bad few years’ he suffered from following his divorce from Dan Neal.

The X Factor star has been open about struggling with depression when his six-year marriage to Dan ended, but is now ready to ‘rebuild’ himself.

Opening up during a difficult Comic Relief challenge, in which Rylan joined Emma Willis and Dancing on Ice’s Oti Mabuse, he spoke about how his life changed over the last few years.

The trio undertook the Red Nose Day trek earlier this year, climbing up the Cairngorm mountain in Scotland and summitting the snow-capped peak at 1245m.

During difficult periods of the four-day climb, Rylan opened up about how much the challenge meant to him, after his mental health struggles.

He said: ‘I’ve personally had a bad few years with my mental health, with my physical health.

‘I’m looking forward to doing this because I’ve rebuilt my life and rebuilt my body.’

He elsewhere shared how special it was camping with Emma and Oti, saying: ‘A lot of nights I spend on my own.’

Reflecting on the intense challenge, Rylan added: ‘The last few years my whole life completely change, and the year after it happened I wasn’t in the best place.

‘Now I’m back to feeling normal. This year I’ve gone, “Say yes to things you’d never say yes to”.’

This comes after Rylan confirmed he’s ready to start dating again after his marriage breakdown.

‘I’d like to be with someone. I would like to share, I am quite a sharer,’ the TV star, whose real name is Ross, noted.

‘I like giving and looking after people. For the past year and a half, I have not been doing that and for the first time Ross has had to be on his own.’

Red Nose Day 2023 airs on Friday, March 17, on BBC One.
