Me my wife and our 2 young kids are frequent world travellers, we have been to Punta Cana Dominican Republic 7 times and this was our 3rd stay at Megestic resort.
This resort is among the best we have ever stayed in during our travels the staff and management are genuinely amazing people with real smile and so helpful.
The grounds are kept spotless with great attention to details and the food has a good variety with high quality.
Magestic resorts Punta Cana consiststs of 3 properties the oldest of which is colonial followed by adult only elegance and the latest more boutique style mirage, your free to roam around no matter which resort your staying in and they each offer a unique experience.
After comparing Magestic to other resorts in the area we have stayed in in the past for example Hard Rock resort, Royalton, Luxury Bahia Principe and Memories Grand we have decided that Magestic is the best and we will never stay at another resort in Punta Cana.
Before our return we emailed the general manager Elena Alvarez who upgraded us to a ocean/ pool view room at no extra charge so close to the beach at no charge, once inside the room they had champagne and fruits in the room and a note to welcome our return, great management is what makes a difference in any organization and from the moment you enter the resort it's clear that this place is well managed.
We are currently still at the resort, I was gonna wait until our return to write this review but figured people should know about this place asap.
Lastly I would like to say Dominican Republic has become our favorite Carribean destination, compared to Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico and the Bahamas this country has the most beautiful beaches amazing people and feels very safe also people are much happier and customer service is better here, the world is a beautiful place and every country is unique in its own way there are good and bad people everywhere but here in Dominican we feel more love and peace.

Overall we had a great time at the Majestic Colonial resort! We were traveling as a group of 8 (four couples) and the resort was able to accommodate our request to have rooms near each other. Perhaps the best part of our trip was our assigned butler, Yeferson, who came with the Colonial Club upgrade. Yeferson was amazing! He was extremely friendly, constantly reachable and in contact when we needed him, and truly made us feel at home. He helped us with whatever we needed, allowing us to relax and not have to worry about anything else. He even helped us organize a romantic breakfast at the pool cabanas one day and came early to help the staff set it up and make sure it was ready for us. I can’t say enough good things about him! If we come back, it will be mainly because of him.
I’d also like to thank the swim up bar crew of Gabriel, Maria and Zenoi. We stumbled upon their swim up bar on our 3rd day at the resort and made sure we went back every day. Maria and Gabriel were a ton of fun and really helped make our days at the pool perfect!
Overall the food at the resort was just okay, however we did love the Matsuri restaurant. Both the hibachi and the sushi bar at Matsuri were amazing and we would highly recommend booking multiple reservations if possible.
One other negative for us was the resorts beach towel policy. We received two towel cards when we checked in and we had to trade them in for towels each day. If you lose your towel or your card, you have to pay $25. In the beginning it was frustrating as other resorts we’ve been to allow you to grab as many towels as you want, however in the end it didn’t end up being that big of a deal.
Overall, we had a great time and would definitely consider going back in the future!

my assumption as its basics treat staff good they work better. However we felt most staff was always serving with a smile. I truly believe and hope that the staff get treated fairly and paid well.Hope all guest tip well to all staff as they work so hard.
One negative for me is the shower rainfall as the water pressure is very very bad. Owners should ensure to fix that as it's a big con for me.
Another complaint I have which may be a positive to others is smoking is allowed everywhere. Its disturbing and annoying I'd suggest they have certain places assigned for smoking only .

We vacationed at Colonial the first week of March and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Colonial Club section with a swim out room. The room was clean and comfortable and the maid service was timely and thorough. We really enjoyed the private lounge and visited everyday for pastries in the morning and a light snack after the beach. Our butler, Alexander, was fantastic. His response time to any request (questions, reservation requests/changes...) was almost immediate no matter what time of day or night. He really made our trip great. We liked the private adults only area of the beach but will have to agree with a prior review that the saving of the beds and chairs was a problem. Many were saved by 8 in the morning only to be used in mid-afternoon. Our towel master, Junior, was also very attentive to our needs and helped keep the area neat. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and lunch by the beach and the wait staff, sorry I didn't get their names, were fantastic. Knew our drink orders by the second day and were generally upbeat and fun. Overall, the food in the restaurants was good but not great however we found the service to be very good. The evening shows were below par (the Michael Jackson show was horrible) and the resort entertainment staff became unbearable after a few nights (begging for applause all the time and generally being annoying) and trotted out the same old tired routines. We did find the lounge and patio entertainment to be very good and enjoyed that before and after the main shows. The beach was clean and the vendors were very respectful of the word "no" which also made the trip enjoyable. The vendor fair they held one night with outside vendors was high on sales pressure and low on variety and quality of merchandise. For example; they had ~12 tables of vendor merchandise, 9 of which were jewelry vendors selling exactly the same items! Security around the resort was always present, even on the beach, but not in your face and blended into the background.
Overall, this was our 3rd trip to Punta Cana and by far the best resort we've been to. We will definitely return!!

So i traveled with my two adult sons for a weeks all inclusive vacation. The resort is nice, clean and very safe. We had booked the suites so we had the butler service which in the beginning was amazing. On my first day in my room i went to wash my hands and when i reached for the towel the paneling fell off, pretty sure my boys had the same issue, When my luggage arrived i pointed it out to my butler and he said he would have someone fix it the next day, and didn't. No biggie i just leaned it back against the sink and hung my towel somewhere else. If i thought it was a big deal i would have mentioned it again and it wasn't. The food at the buffet was good and relatively good options. The one thing my sons and i all agreed on was the staff of this resort didn't smile or seem happy. Francisco from the seafood restaurant was the first and only one of two people that stood out as being happy the other being Peter from the Japanese restaurant. One day i had asked my butler for something as i just got back from the beach and didn't have any money on me to tip, needless to say the second half of the trip he was quite moody. i did tip him a day later, never got a thank you and when i gave him a generous tip on our last day we were best friends again. Kind of put a sour taste in my mouth.
It was a great trip because i spent quality time with my sons, don't think i would come back to this specific resort though.
I would like to mention the entertainment staff that puts on the shows at night did a great job, they really work hard. Overall the food was good, Japanese was our favorite, French restaurant was just ok. Hotel is nice, little things that can be improved on, aesthetics wise, just not sure why the staff was all so unhappy.
It was a great trip because i spent quality time with my sons, don't think i would come back to this specific resort though.

Great vacation with beautiful beach and pool! Property is very well maintained. Marisol greeted us every morning for breakfast. She was delightful and very welcoming!
We didn't have to get up at dawn to get a shady spot on the beach which was great.
Lots of excursions available if you wish. People walking up and down the beach trying to sell things. This is common at most resorts.
Suggestions: Bring towel clips, lots of sunscreen, and small bills for frequent tipping. A lot of the staff only speak Spanish so have google translate ready to go if you need assistance. The wifi wasn't bad at all.
This is a place we would return to. A nice breeze on the beach and great food. The tap water is not drinkable and they communicated this on the bus ride to the resort. There is lots of bottled water if needed and the water in the restaurants with ice cubes is safe and has been purified.

This was our fourth trip to Punta Cana, the third time at the Majestic Colonial. As always, the staff was beyond accommodating-especially our butler, Renaldo, and our pool assistant, Wender. They made sure we had everything we needed and more. Our biggest complaint, and it is major for us, were the number of children at the resort, including teenagers under 18 who were allowed to stay at the Majestic Club which is supposed to be adults only. The management was told by numerous patrons about this issue but we were told that "they are staying with their family so there is nothing we can do". Those of us who stay at the Club level pay extra for an adults-only area. There is a family area in the resort so there should not be kids at the club level.
We were also disappointed at the number of very young children who were allowed to run all over the resort unsupervised, including at the restaurants. My husband personally witnessed children LICKING food and putting it back on the buffet line. Children were screaming and crying at the restaurants and all over the resort while their parents ignored them and drank themselves into a stupor. While this is not the resort's fault, they have become extremely lax in separating the adults-only and family sections at the Colonial.
I am certain we will visit Punta Cana again soon because we love the people of the Dominican Republic and the island atmosphere, but there are now many choices for a quality resort and we may choose to look beyond Majestic.
In many reviews I've seen where people had complaints about the dismissive attitude about Majestic's management and unfortunately I have to agree. The overall opinion seems to be, "It doesn't matter if these customers are happy, there is another group coming in tomorrow". Majestic management seems to forget that there are also several other excellent resorts in Punta Cana that these customers can choose over their brand. The responses to the negative reviews seem to be a form letter with empty apologies and no intention to change the issues at the Colonial. This is a shame for the excellent employees that work there, but I feel that they, too, may choose to move to one of the other resorts as well.

The location is ideal, approximately 25 minutes to airport and beautiful beach location. The MOST impressive asset of this resort is that you do not need to get up at 06:30 to put out your towels; even at @11:00 (after shopping at the little mall outside the resort...definitely go and bargain) we found chairs at pool and on beach. Very lush, clean resort. Rooms are very large, cleaned daily with nice balcony. Another great benefit of this smaller resort is that you can walk everywhere; if you prefer shuttle service, this is not for you. Nothing is far (10 minutes from lobby to beach). Very good food service, exceptional staff, especially Judith in the lobby piano bar. She remembered our drinks, very attentive and professional..speaks excellent English which is not that common. Had some issues with lukewarm side dishes (potatoes, broccoli) in the French and Rodeo restaurant but otherwise ate very well. The Asian restaurant meal was my personal favourite but very popular (reservation required) and therefore they only allocate 60 minutes so feels rushed. Beach party was outstanding! Beach and pool bars A1!
The evening entertainment by the outside bar was great; a big shout out to the Saxophone player who was exceptional. the evening theatre shows were just ok, but not a big issue. Lots of vendors on the beach but very polite and won’t bother you if you say you aren’t interested.
Just got home at 2 this morning but already thinking about a return trip for 10 days in 2021😎

Spent 2 weeks with my wife at a swim up room on the "family" side of the resort.
The Good:
Fantastic beaches with lots and lots of chairs both by the pool and at the beach.
You won't need to get up at 6am to stake out a chair for the day :) Seems to be very family oriented so plenty of activities aimed for kids. Room was spacious, always clean and the mini-bar restocked everyday. Lots of bars throughout the facility so never felt crowded or had to wait long for a drink. Drinks and service at the lobby bar and the pool bar by where the activities are is by far the best of all the bars - Carlos, you're the best!!
The not so good:
We arrived about 1 hr before checkin time and was told by front desk that our room wasn't ready and we should go to the bar to get a drink and wait. Went back at about 3:30, and was simply told by one of the staff to wait after clearly bringing out an envelop with our names on it, and then she walked away. About 15min later, approached another staff to see if our room was ready, and he simply handed us an envelop with our keys and said our room is ready. (the same envelop we saw the 1st clerk bring out and told us to wait) No orientation, no additional information, just here's your key and goodbye. At that point, we didn't even know we were suppose to find a bell boy to get our luggage to the room. Didn't take us long to see our luggage was still in the area so approached a bell boy to get our luggage. The checkout experience at the same front desk was awesome. We had initially asked for a late checkout, but he convinced us that we didn't need to pay extra for late checkout and can easily leave our luggage in a secure room, and use the lobby showers to get cleaned up before our flight out.
The inbetween:
Food is OK, not the best, but certainly far from being bad. The teppanyaki(japanese) restaurant was the best of them all. Remember there is a dress code for the french restaurant so be ready. Entertainment was hit/miss - we did take a stroll over to the Majestic Elegance and seems to be everyday before dinner time, there's a band that plays in the plaza area who are awesome. No one seems to mind that we actually sat there and enjoyed the music.
Overall, will certainly be back, but will likely stay at Elegance next time as it just seems a bit nicer

We recently spent a week at this resort and opted for the Colonial Club level rooms for the adults only areas and additional inclusive amenities. It could not have been a better choice- our butler was Luis and he was attentive and helpful for anything we needed. In fact the staff at the entire resort was overwhelmingly wonderful and positive wherever we went, they work tirelessly to keep it clean and orderly. We went to all of the restaurants, the Hibachi and Mexican restaurants were our favorite.
Most of our time was spent at the swim up bar right outside our room! Gabriel and Maria are the best bartenders ever, happy and lively and generous with the drinks. It was impossible to have an empty cup as they would notice it before you did and like magic, the glass was full again! We had so much fun there I hardly left the pool all week.
Also the Colonial Club lounges were always stocked with snacks and drinks of all sorts, so if you were too lazy to walk to the restaurants or wait for room service (also great AND 24 hrs) you can wander over there for a bite to eat and some air conditioning. Everything was made so easy and convenient.
Overall, I loved this trip and hope I can return someday, it was exactly what I hoped for and I was spoiled like a queen for a week.

I didn’t try because the resort have already 6 or 7 restaurants that I didn’t have time to try them all , it’s lot of walking though 😂 i used the pool in the family section and the club section, but I don’t think you can use the neighbouring pool or restaurant.
