Morning Lynn. Yes much better right now. Am already at the beach with coffee for sunrise. Some clouds and wind but surprisingly calm. Just a smudge of sea weeds. Watching the sun rise over the ocean, coffee in hand, listening to waves is always an amazing part of my vacation.

Sunrise was 627am this morning. And 1st beach towel game player showed at 635am... dedicated! And yes, wi-fi works great at the beach.

So walking around this morning and able to see the impact of the storm. No serious damage but mostly lots of clean up with branches all over and lots of pooling water. Staff also retrieving lots of stuff in the pools. 906am now and you wouldn't know anything happened last night. I'm sure resorts are used to this stuff but still impressive (all hands on deck).

Oh and it is beautiful, warm and sunny right now. Time for a walk on the beach.

What's the vibe at CHIC? I want something lively with pool parties and a nice night club. Do they have an entertainment team to keep the guest involved.

Interesting walk this morning. Glad I did it. Actually walked south heading towards Ocean El Faro which is the only resort between CHIC and Macao beach. Fun walk (need good shoes) as the beach ends about 150 meters south of CHIC. All there is then is reef and open field. I walked (very slowly) across the the reef all the way to the other side where is a beautiful lagoon protected by a reef. Very little or no waves at all on the beach. Great snorkeling spot apparently. Of course the beach doesn't get cleaned as it isn't part of El Faro property but many guests use it as the actual beach at that resort is pretty bad. This is why I believe the resort gets a bad rep and is always priced lower. It is also very isolated so if long walks on the beach is a thing (like me) not a great spot. It's too bad though as the resort is very nice (almost ended up there this week.

Today is Wednesday which means Dominican day and as such, vendors are setting up around the main pool. Be ready to say no... lol

Enjoy your holiday at your favourite resort, Sly. We are counting down to our next visit to Puerto Plata at the end of the month. We got lots of rain here in Ontario this morning but it has stopped now. Weather has never been a problem in PP in all the years we have visited..

Thanks DDG. I think this storm also hit the north coast yesterday so lucky for you but I'm sure weather will be great for your next trip. Last 2 days were a bit of a freak weather thing. Beautiful right now.

What a difference a day makes. Barely any clouds right now. Beautiful morning at the pool. One of the best thing about CHIC is the staff. I have been coming here for 8 years (shortly after opening) and there are still some of the staff that were here then. But of course there are new faces like Pedro who's now a feature of the E-team (Vibe Team). Great young man. Interacts with everyone and seemingly has the ability to remember everybody's name. Another new face is Mercedes, server at the main pool. Her special talent is to magically make a full drink appear without me asking or seeing her delivering it. And for those who say that drinks are watered down here, they haven't met Mercedes yet but I haven't had that problem. You know service is good when you have to keep an eye out for her so that drinks slow down a bit... lol
