- 937lizRichmond, New Zealand320 contributionsSomething fun to do on a cold day. We climbed the spiral steps all the way home. Interesting info boards on the way up and the views are amazing. - Kenneth LNewmachar524 contributionsVery interesting tour giving an insight into the various parts of the beer brewing process by touring each of the halls within the old brewery.
The information giving by the guide was very good but it was difficult to hear at times. Might benefit from using a microphone / speaker in each room.Written April 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FernGlasgow, UK486 contributionslake of lovers!! this is by far the most beautiful area of bruges, i love to visit here. it's always so so peaceful here. very accessible, many beautiful places even if you can't walk farWritten January 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tk3232Sugar Land, TX3,828 contributionsThe more popular name of this sight is Begijnhof, which were built to house women of the lay order, called Beguines. To reach this place you must walk 10 -15 minutes from the city center towards Minnewater lake ("Water of Love") - one more beautiful place.
Begijhof has several sight here. We came here to visit the museum go get a sense of Beguine life. According to our guidebook, the museum was supposed to be open every day except Sunday, but this turned out not to be the case. On the contrary, it is only open on Saturday and Sunday. Fortunately, the Benedictine nuns gather at 11:55, proceed though the garden (almost every day) to capella and one of those told us about it. I had the chance to talk with this nice woman in French and not only about the opening hours of the museum.
Also other sight is the church with peaceful interior (was open), with its carved pulpit and tombstones on the floor. On the right wall is an 800-year-old golden statue of Mary, don't miss it. The courtyard (open always, free) has the atmosphere may make you fold your hands as you walk under its wispy trees. And of course, another pearl that cannot be missed if you are here, just south of the Beginhof is the waterway called Minnewater, an idyllic world of flower boxes, canals, swans and beautiful park around.Written October 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Kvothe74Horley, UK128 contributionsDid the tour a few years ago and went back again this time in Bruges. The tour is good but not quite as good as I remember it. Beer is great at the end and staff friendly although the tour could possibly do with some human interaction like a demonstration or something.Written April 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kenneth LNewmachar524 contributionsThere are a lot of paintings to see in just 1 hour slot. The paintings by Van Eyck Margaret Van Eyck and Madonna with George van der Paele should not be missed.
I do like the various versions of the Last Judgement but the one by Hieronymous Bosch is definitely the highlight for me.Written April 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Steven WNewport, UK172 contributionsGood to see all the history but the tour was a little flat. You have to scan each code and listen and there’s so many it just lost its edge for us.
We also had to rush to make the last chocolate tasting session at the end.
Worth a visit for chocolate fans but don’t expect to be overwhelmedWritten January 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
