A family of four (mom, dad and two kids aged 13 and 10) did an 8 day over Spring Break. What a GREAT !!!! vacation. This was only our second family cruise, the first was nine years ago on Disney when our kids were really young. We've always been an all-inclusive resort family and decided to try something new. We sure were not disappointed!! We were in room 9275, which was great for the four of us. It was a little cramped at time but definitely not an issue, especially because we had a balcony. We did a few excursions on the port days, but what I liked the best was that everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. We, mom and dad, enjoyed relaxing and getting sun and both of our kids loved all of the activities designed for them. We never went to the casino and we're not big drinkers so I can't comment on the smoke or the alcohol. My wife and I would rather have cocktails for a lot less at a port. We'll definitely cruise again!!

We've used nothing but Carnival, but this might just be the straw that breaks the camels back. This was by far the worst boat we've ever cruised on. Teeny, tiny smokey casino. I got sick and my fiance who generally stays to play craps wouldn't even go down to play craps. This boat was going into dry dock after our sailing. We had no idea about that, but the dealers in the casino told us it was because the ventilation was bad. Well that's an understatement. You could smell the smoke from the casino throughout the atrium. It was a disappointment for sure.

The carnival vista November 4th-10th This was not my first cruise. Room 6259 with balcony The staff was great. Always pleasant and professional. Before sailing, I downloaded the Carnival Hub app months prior. I never saw anything Vista specific. Just the typical cruise information. Most of what was on the Hub was umbrella and applied to most of their cruises. When were just days out, I called Carnival to make sure I was packing accordingly. The information I received was we were having 1 elegant night on the second night of the cruise. Of course there were 2 elegant nights and an all white party. Wow what a disappointment when my husband had only packed the 1 elegant suit and neither of us had a white outfit. The ship itself... let's just say thank goodness that was the last sailing from Galveston before updates/remodeling. The decor throughout the ship including the staterooms was, to put it politely outdated. The shower had horrible drainage. Maybe that's how all of Carnival ships are but standing in pooling water is not my idea of feeling clean. I pray I don't get athlete's foot 🙁 The pool area gave me the creeps. There were times when I thought I was going to get the plague from just walking past it. One of the pools had to be closed temporarily before we left Galveston so one of the staff could scoop something out of it. Yay! I can't forget to mention the God awful sewage smell in the middle of the ship on days 2 & 5. Completely unbearable. The biggest gripe I have is the elevator system. Taking the stairs may be an option for some but for elderly, those with disabilities, crutches, or walkers waiting 10 to 15 minutes for an elevator is actually unacceptable. The food was edible. Due to religious beliefs my husband and I don't eat pork or shellfish. I really didn't think this would be an issue. I was wrong yet again. Very minimal options especially at breakfast. There was nothing "fine" about the fine dining. Stale bread, under seasoned food with a wait longer than the elevator system. As for drinks what's included is water, juice at breakfast, coffee, and the lemon concentrate they call lemonade. Im sure that lemon concoction gave me a stomach ulcer. Never ever select open dining option with Carnival. The dining room was such a clusterf*@k. We used the carnival hub app for "easy" table reservations. Once we were notified that our wait was expected to be under 10 minutes, we still waited over 30 minutes and 45 minutes once seated to just get bread. The sad thing is we were trying to plan around the big crowds. As for activities, this was a very geriatric experience. My husband and I are in our early 40s and did not find many activities that peaked our interest. However, if you want to feed their casino machines in a small room full of smokers good luck! I can't forget about the cruise photographers. Not sure if they go to school to learn the 3 repeated poses of awkward, more awkward, and finally just plain weird. 😬 I am so glad there were photographers at all of the excursions so that we could have some good pictures of our 15th anniversary that was ruined by a Carnival cruise nightmare. Please don't take this review as me wanting any freebies. The only thing free I'd take from Carnival is tickets on the Royal Caribbean or Virgin.

This was not my first cruise but it was my first with Carnival. But it probably will be my last. I've cruised with Royal Caribbean, Princess and Viking. My husband and I took our whole family of 13. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Let's start with the positive. The room was nice enough but smelled, which they promptly tried to fix. They sent champagne to apologize. There was a Mexican restaurant poolside that way good, a BBQ Place I heard was good but never found. There were a couple of restaurants that were extra except at lunch time on boarding day. After eating lunch there I had no desire to eat there at night let alone pay extra for it. The swrvice in these were awful. Guys burgers was good but it and Mexican place was outside and Lways a long line to wait in.im used to people waiting on you in buffet area and taking drink orders, they did not. So you stood in long lines for food and then long drink lines. Evening meals were better in main dining room. On other cruises I'm used to bread baskets and dishes of butter but they gave you one roll and one pat of butter. In general these meals were good. Most of the time service was good. Somelnights service was fast Other times it seemed we waited for half an hour for food. Sometimes it was room temperature entrees. My other big pet peave was getting nickle and dimed to death. No more free room service, not even coffee. If you're not going to have coffee service to rooms then st least put a coffee station on each floor. Who wants to get up, get dressed, wait for an elevator to go to 10th floor for a cup of coffee? The IMAX theater was great but there again you had to pay to attend. My grandsons, high school and middle school were excited to play in a 3 one basketball tournament but it was for 18 and older. Same for dodgeball and free throw contest They tried to get a group started for later but all those activities closed at 5.we found out later that the court was built over two of the specialty restaurants. That would explain the noise and ceiling lights shaking at lunch. The outside water slides and sky rider were fun. There were so many things I could go on about but it would take forever. Let's just say I'll stick with Royal Caribbean.

Took about 20 minutes to embark. Restaurants: Pig & Anchor, was ok, food was cold; JiJi's is deicious and is free on sea days; Guy Fierie's was awesome. Main Dining room was good about half the time. The Vista Rock band was awesome, could play every genre. Some of the comedians were great and some were not. Trivia games were fun. Enjoyed the foosball and shuffleboard in the Red Frog Pub. Ports: Falmouth, don't go into town, drug dealers kept trying to put drugs in our hands, very dirty, crowded. You can walk around the cruise area to see some shops and buy a meat patty that was good. Grand Cayman - didn't get off ship as 6 ships were in port and we were only there from 7 am to 2 pm. Cozumel was great as always, went to Chakanaab National Park to snorkel and get a massage. Debarkation was a hot mess, took 2.5 hours. The Vista is was overdue for dry dock. There was a constant smell of sewage in the halls. Engine problems. We were self assist with our luggage, but was not allowed off first as promised. It was called by floor.
