Beautiful in wintertime, just after 4 days of heavy snowfall. Be aware that in snow conditions you may need snow chains. We left the car lower down the road and walked last 30-45 minutes to the lakes though.

An easy but stunning adventure through nature to one of the most beautiful lakes of Northeast Italy.
If you are passing by Tarvisio, a trip to Fusine lakes is an essential step of your journey. Located about a 1h drive from the city of Udine in northeast Italy, it’s easily accessible and provides plenty of places for parking. Park your car at the beginning of the "Sentiero del Lago" to get to the first lake, walking for ~10 minutes along the path that runs next to a very nice little creek.
You'll arrive at the first lake called "Lago Inferiore," which offers a fantastic panorama and where you can find a little dining area. Here you can simply relax, rent a small boat and head out onto the lake, or continue the walk to the main path, which leads to the forest separating the two lakes. After ~15 minutes, you will arrive at the second lake called "Lago Superiore," a large picnic area awaits you!
The walk takes about two hours and is very straightforward. During winter, the snowy landscape makes it even more romantic!

I went there with my 5 years old son.This place is so serene and beautiful. There were not many people when we visited. The mountain view is stunning. The water in the lake was crystal clear. We had a pleasant walk around the lower lake and a little challenge to the upper lake due to some leftover snow from winter. Great place with a picnic with kids. I recommend this place for family with kids, to walk to bike and get in touch with the nature. They will like it as much as my son. The drive from both Tarvisio and Kranska Gora are easy. Google brought me there with no problems and also the sign posts are clear(at least I could see them).

We cycled to these lakes along the cycle path from Kranjska Gora which is an easy ride with just two fairly steep hills at the end to reach them. The lower lake is probably the most beautiful but they both have their individual charms. There are footpaths around both lakes which take about an hour each. Arriving early in the morning the surface of the lakes was calm and the reflections of the surrounding mountains in the water were an amazing photographic opportunity. Would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Cycled here from Kranjska Gora as a family. Nice ride out of town with a gentle incline for most of the route, although the last few hundred yards are a bit steeper. It's worth it. The first lake is serene, with a beautiful backdrop of the julienne Alps. It's worth taking the time to visit the superior lake too. It's very pretty with the obligatory cow herd munching on the good pasture and stunning views of the mountains. Recommend.

We bicycled to this lake and it was well worth the hills and the pedaling. We walked part of the way up the last hill and enjoyed the stream, the colored leaves and the sound of water. When we got to the top we were treated by the most spectacular view of our entire trip. The weather was great and the lake was calm so pictures taken there are almost unreal in their beauty-- with the mountains reflecting in a beautifully clear lake, with flowers and colored leaves all around. It was a wonderful walk around the lake. This view will live in my memory for years to come!

Even when the weather wasn't very beautiful, the lakes were very impressive. We visited in March and there were only a few people there, which made it a very calming experience. The lakes, the sight of the mountains and the fresh air were amazing. I loved being here.

The lakes and the mountains behind give a great view of this stunning landscape. We took the hike around the lakes which is comfortable and safe to manage. A few snack bars and restaurant are also inviting to have a rest and enjoy the outdoors. In our case it was Sunday with great weather and refreshing drinks and food.

2 beatiful lakes, just 2 kilometres from border Slovenia-Italy. You live a car near border and walk obout half an hour throw the forest. It is great for one day excursion.

dal 15 novembre 2021 fino al 15 aprile 2022 sarà in vigore l'obbligo dei pneumatici invernali o delle catene da neve a bordo del veicolo.

ritengo siano acque sotto tutela regionale e pertanto bisogna chiedere informazionre all' Ente tutela pesca o al Comune , forse rilasciano dei permessi ; purtroppo non sono un pescatore.

Con passeggino non puoi fare il sentiero in mezzo al bosco. Puoi andare fino in riva ai laghi comodamente e poi per passare da uno all'altro ci vai per la strada asfaltata.

For sure man, it’s one of the coldest places in Europe!!!The ice on the lake is more than 40cm thick! The roads are usually cleaned after snowfalls but you should phone up the Tarvisio tourist info point where you can get the weather and streets info!!
