The Verandah Antigua is celebrated for its spacious, renovated rooms and a multitude of activities that guests enjoy, though the entertainment volume sometimes detracts from the tranquil atmosphere. While the rooms command appreciation for their size and views, attention to maintenance and housekeeping detail can be lacking. Amenities are plentiful yet issues with water access and service consistency arise. Cleanliness generally meets expectations; however, towel shortages are noted. Despite the friendly and helpful service, some guests question the resort's value, citing additional fees and food quality concerns. The beachfront location is picturesque, yet views from the restaurants receive mixed reviews.

My wife and I, Californians, visited Antigua for the first time. Overall, we had a nice experience. We were given champagne on arrival which was nice and refreshing.

The grounds were well groomed and facilities were clean. Beautifully landscaped, the gardeners are to be commended.

The beaches were great and it was nice to kayak and paddle board without having to pay extra. The attendant at the beach was helpful in teaching my wife how to paddle board.

There was an unexpected $24/day resort fee but that wasn’t a big deal.

While there, we went to stingray city, went snorkeling and took a trip on the pink panther. We also did the “Treasure Island” tour which included snorkeling, a beach visit, drinks and a meal.

The free day pass to “Pineapple resort” was an added but unexpected bonus .

Nian in guest services was very helpful in setting these up so I recommend visiting the tour desk as soon as you arrive.

We bought a necklace and ring at the jewelry shop which was nice. Racquel, in the jewelry shop, was very kind and informative. She represents the company well.

The food was good and there were plenty of options for everyone. However, getting a late night snack was hard to come by. More access to water bottles would have been a inexpensive thing to help improve the experience.

The bartenders were great and friendly. Drink menu diverse and I tried a lot of new drinks. However, I noticed many of the guests were not very smiley towards them which may have set a somber tone at the bar. Many of the guests would simply say, “give me this”
Or “give me that”. Occasionally, I heard a “ hello, how are you? Could I please have a …”

Our favorite drink: Rum 🍹 Punch

The coffee ☕️ shop was great. We enjoyed our morning Latte and appreciate the excellent service she provided.

They had entertainment on a few of the nights which included local dancers.

Lastly, I recommend bringing extra cash 💷 💵 (dollars, pounds, euros), to tip the servers. I noticed this really brightened their day when they knew they were appreciated by the guests. Also, they have local vendors who have stuff for sale but they only accept cash.

Overall, I recommend this place and we will come back again in the years to come.

This was a lovely resort, laid out with space, water, spacious rooms and very kind staff. As a family holiday we had a variety of adults (8) and two children 8 months and 3 1/2 years old. As it wasn't around the traditional school break times it was quiet, and plenty to keep us busy or not. The rooms are fairly basic and could do with a bit of a facelift however they were very clean and uncluttered, so no complaints of a serious nature. The food was okay and unfortunately you had to make reservations for the buccaneer alacarte restaurant 2 days ahead of time and a few days it wasn't open. I had the omelet/egg bar fresh each day and for lunch wandered down the the Beach Bar and Grill for a veggie burger. Internet is sluggish and only available in 2 areas for free. Would I return? Absolutely and would not hesitate to recommend. It was a great "re-set" button at the Verandah and the sister property The Pineapple was just across the road and available to go over with a pass. That property is adults only. I loved that both these properties were under 200 rooms. Awesome.

Visited 8-15 December, I must say having read some more recent reviews was a little apprehensive but glad to say there was no reason for this as this place and the staff are fantastic.

Location is remote so other than the adults only sister resort next door (which you can book a day pass to visit) there is nothing within walking distance. The resort is vast and they have electric karts zipping around all the time in case you don’t want to walk – the resort is undulating but the gorgeous grounds/trees do provide some shade.

We were allocated a room right opposite the main pool, this was central and great for access to the main areas – pool, main bar, coffee shop and restaurants. Yes, you could hear the music still when back in your room but everything seems to close by 11pm (it was dark before 6) so this was just part of the entertainment.

There are 2 beaches, the closest to the reception area is Rasta Beach and very beautiful but we spent most of our time at the other beach as this had all the water sports. We were impressed to see that all beaches and pools had their own toilets close by and the beaches had their own bars so no long walks to the bar.

Staff were friendly, everyone greeted you when they passed you. Eric the manager was very visible and always asked how you were. To be fair some members of staff appeared less smiley but if you just spoke to them and engaged, they were lovely. I think if you are friendly so are they – witnessed some very rude guests which was a shame.

As this was our first visit to the Caribbean, we contacted the hotel in advance to research excursions and made contact with Nian – he has an excursion shop alongside Guest Services next to the pool. Nian could not have been more helpful and provided information and expert advice and we absolutely loved the 3 excursions we booked through him – Helicopter tour to Montserrat, Stingray City & Pink Panther tour.

Other staff of note were Cassy-Ann in the marvellous coffee shop, Tracey Ann at the beach bar – she made the best local lemonades from scratch, ‘JMoney’ & ‘Tequila’ of the entertainment team and Lindon & Andre at the bar.

Food was OK, breakfast was as expected – cereals, cooked options and omelettes cooked to order. We spent every lunchtime at the Beach Bar – it had great food (catch of the day, burgers, pizza etc) and a fantastic view (spent hours watching hummingbirds and pelicans) but the evening buffet in the main restaurant was a little more limited and basic. We did try Buccaneers – an included table service restaurant that you needed a reservation to visit, this was nice plus we paid to visit Nicole’s, at $40 each it was pricey and not sure it was worth the amount other than the fact it was quiet and hubby could get his favourite lobster meal.

Overall we had a wonderful trip, enjoyed relaxing in the sunshine and are now detoxing after so much rum 😊 would love to return

We're delighted to hear that your apprehensions were unfounded and that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us! We visited Verandah over the Christmas holidays. We had the oceanfront room. The view was fantastic, however, the room was dated. The mattress on the pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable. The washroom was dated and needed TLC (for example, the tub had spots on it). The tub was quite deep to step into- so people with mobility issues need to be aware. The air conditioning was set at 20 degrees celsius and the room was still warm.
Vegan/Vegetarian options at the buffet were a hit or a miss and at times repetitive. Breakfast was the same daily. Lunch or dinner will always have a rice dish and steamed vegetables, and the usual salad. Service was slow- they seem to be understaffed at the main bar or coffee/tea station. It would take upto an hour of wait time when we ordered at the Beach bar and grill during lunch time.
Amenities at the resort were great! We enjoyed playing many rounds of mini golf, pool and table tennis. The views and beach at the resort are amazing and clean. Towel service at the beach and pool could definitely be improved- there were no towels available in the morning at the main pool.
In summary, considering the price we paid for our stay, the service, room condition and food options, we will NOT recommend this resort to our family and friends and nor will come here again.

We are 60 year olds traveling as a couple who just returned from a 9 day stay at the Verandah to escape the cold Chicago winter

Our room was clean and well furnished and had a spectacular view. The food and drinks were very good particularly in the a la cart restaurants.

What is really exceptional about the Verandah is the people. All of the staff were knowlegable, helpful and friendly. Throughout our whole stay I don't recall passing any hotel staff who did not take the time to greet you. Shout out to Sheddy in Nicole's for our wonderful dining experience with him

One real positive about the Verandah is the ability to also use the restaurants, beach and pools at the sister resort next door the Pineapple Inn. This allows for for some variety and additional fun!

We are frequent travelers to the Caribbean and would definitely return to the Verandah

We had never even thought about visiting Antigua however we were caught up in the Thomas Cook collapse so had to find an alternative for our wedding anniversary at short notice and we wasn’t disappointed. The bungalows were very spacious and clean. The resort is fairly big and there are regular shuttle buses to get around. We dined at all the restaurants and enjoyed the food at them all although the food at the buffet restaurant was a little repetitive however you can order from the grill menu where requested. We enjoyed the weekly BBQ by the pool as it made a nice change from the regular buffet food. The staff were friendly although they were a little lacking in consistency. The beaches and pool areas were always kept clean and tidy and the sea hammocks are a really nice touch. We never had difficulty finding a sun lounger either by the pool or the sea. Having a fridge in the room was an added bonus as not all hotels offer this even when all inclusive. We hired a car through the hotel which was unproblematic. My only negative would be that there are no sun shades around the “adult” pool unless you want to sit at a table so we only spent a few hours there. We enjoyed taking out the catamaran and kayak and there was always clean towels available at numerous areas around the resort. I would recommend The Veranda to others (families and couples) and I would also return.

We spent 2 weeks at The Verandah in Feb 2022 (our first visit) and we had a wonderful experience. The level of service we received was excellent, the friendliness, professionalism, and kindness from the staff was greatly appreciated, and we felt completely safe at the resort with all the Covid measures in place.

I would say our only complaint is that there was an added fee for "cleaning due to Covid" and the room service was only every second day. Now let me be clear, we had NO problem with the room service being every second day, in fact we felt it was better than everyday, however charging an added cleaning fee - well that just didnt make sense. Nor was it clear what exactly was being "cleaned" to increase "safety" from Covid for that fee. We felt it was just a money grab....

Other than that, the food was delicious and we felt there was a lot of variety too, with regards to menu changes and restaurant options. The kidsclub was an excellent feature to have on site! There was a huge main pool, an adult pool, a brand new fancy pool at the rasta beach (also great for kiddos), and we even had "our own pool" where the double units for families was located at the back of the resort! That was pretty convenient! The option of two beaches was great and all the added playing venues (minigolf, tennis, pool, ping pong, shuffleboard, etc made our stay extra fun! We loved it!

We would be happy to go to Verandah with our family again and we would recommend it to many others in the future too!

Thanks so much for your glowing review! It's fantastic to hear how much you enjoyed your time at The Verandah, from the friendliness of our staff to the variety of amenities and activities. We aim to provide a memorable experience, and it sounds like we hit the mark for you and your family! About the resort fee for cleaning, we understand how it can raise questions. This fee helps us maintain an elevated level of sanitization for everyone's safety, given the ongoing COVID-19 circumstances. The every-other-day room service is designed to minimize potential exposure between guests and staff while keeping your room clean and comfortable. It also allows us more time to thoroughly clean and sanitize the rooms. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we're thrilled to hear you'd recommend us. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to The Verandah for another fun-filled vacation. Maybe next time, you can try out some activities you didn't get around to on this trip! 🏖️🍹🎾

This was our 3rd stay at The Verandah. We look forward to returning again!

We appreciated that the resort has installed many hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the resort and is practicing many virus protection measures due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The resort met our expectations yet again and was very accommodating. It was nice to return to see some of the friendly & genuine staff from previous years.

This year we were disappointed that the Rasta beach (that is typically quiet) had music blaring from the restaurant.

We stayed at the Verandah Resort in March 2020- right in the beginning of when coronavirus hit the US. We have been to both Beaches Turks and Caicos and also Beaches Negril. While the food is better at Beaches, overall we LOVED our time at Verandah (and it is literally half the cost of Beaches). We stayed in a Superior waterfront room with our 2 kids and loved all the space we had. The room could use some updating- new flooring, udated furniture, etc, but with so much to do at the resort we were hardly in our room. The room was clean and comfortable and the most amazing view of the ocean. The staff was friendly and warm. We loved the beaches- especially the Rasta beach since it was more private and secluded. I could have spent 100% of my time on that beach and been perfectly happy. My husband and son went fishing one day (set up thru the activities desk) and had the best time. They caught a ton of fish and really enjoyed the boat captain. We also did Sting Ray City combined with a new turtle sanctuary. It was an incredible time.
As mentioned earlier, the food is average. There was a good variety, but overall is was just average. We did pay the extra $40 per person and went to Nicole's one night which was excellent. Well worth the extra money. They could definitely use more options at both beach lunch places.
The resort is spread out but there is always a cart and driver available to take you wherever you want to go. We actually enjoyed walking the resort to help burn off some calories.
We feel very lucky to have gone to Verandah just before the virus hit and will absolutely be back once things are back to normal. It was an excellent vacation at a great price!

My family had a wonderful time at the Verandah (I wish we could go back tomorrow!) Our bungalow-style suites had a beautiful view of the bay and were conveniently close to both the children's center and the main pool / restaurant. Our rooms had everything we needed, and it was an added bonus that we were able to have a shared balcony as a family (there was an adjoining door on the balcony which could be left open to join the two balcony's.)
The food was mostly good, though I wish we had booked a second night at the Buccaneer restaurant, as we felt it was by far the best. We didn't opt to go to Nichole's, which was the pay-more option restaurant as it would have been expensive with so many of us. Everyone working at the children's center we found very friendly, and the kids really enjoyed the fountain / kiddie pool as well as petting the tortoises. Be sure to go early for the slides on "the pirate ship" playground, since they become way too hot in the afternoon.
We had such a good time and would absolutely recommend the Verandah to our friends. Look for Yocasta during the evening entertainment, we absolutely loved her and she was wonderful with us and with the little ones too. (She even got my sister out on the dance floor, no easy task !). Andre at the bar was another of our favorites and we had many wonderful conversations with him too, though we found just about everyone at the resort to be helpful, friendly and genuinely keen to make sure we had a great time.

Hi We were there in February and construction was taking place behind Lover's Beach - it was only at the 'clearing the site stage' so would expect that it continue for a few months. That said, only the resort will be able to confirm for certain as to specific plans for April.

We went in Feb 23 and were disappointed in the food buffets. Nicoles was a little better but not woth the premium (for seafood mainly not much selection in the buffet). Better to eat at the sister hotell, pineapple, across the road.

Hi, It of course depends on your mom, this resort is on the ocean side, during our 2 weeks it was very windy but the boat is able to go out. We had several people that age on our boat and it was fine. If she is adventurous and able bodied. I see no issues. If the wind is calm then it is definitely no issue. I think the boat stays when it is very rough.

They never answered us either, we tried several times to get very simply stuff for our room like coffee and toilet paper. They say they will send but don't. it is a known issue. understaffed and the ladies at the front desk do not want to talk to guests other than to cash them out or get them in.
