This well-appointed cottage, or what we like to call a true KIWI BACH, caters to romantics with beautiful linen, mood lighting, and importantly a well-equipped kitchen. Snuggle rugs and cushions for cooler evenings are just some of the little features that make your escape to the Love Shack special. A compact cottage (30 square metres), the space gives you everything you need for a cosy and comfortable stay. Our guests enjoy filtered drinking water on tap Microwave, double cooktop stove, large fridge/freezer, a Weber Q BBQ, and outdoor heater as well as a brand new AC/Heat pump unit. Blue tooth speaker, DVD player & TV, Oversized garden bean bags for relaxing in the sun. The deck has a modern glass screen to provide shelter and extend your outside enjoyment without obstructing the views of the water.

"Wow, this place blew me away! It was absolutely stunning and had everything I needed. The kitchen was well stocked (equipped)so I could make breakfast but you could bring all of your food and just stay in the kitchen has it all. I used the kayak but there were paddleboards on offer too. Wonderful spot and friendly hosts would absolutely recommend"

"Such a lovely place to stay so secluded and romantic. You feel like you’re in your own Rom-com movie (or horror if you’re into that like me haha) so peaceful, very clean and tidy. Perfect spot to relax and rest. A nice quick drive to Rotorua. The okere falls store and beer garden was recommend by Florence and was so good they had delicious vegan food and coffee great recommendation! Highly recommend staying here! Xx"

"This is a glorious getaway spot. The place is extremely well appointed and comfortable. The host absolutely thought of every need you could have. It’s beautiful and peaceful. Close enough to Rotorua but just far enough away to make it a lovers escape. You must visit the Okere Falls store for beer and breakfast pastries.

"A perfect paradise for rest and rejuvenation! Beautiful bush environment, filled with birdsong...so peaceful and right by the lake edge. Having kayaks and SUPs to paddle about exploring was great. The cottage was very cute and comfortable - all facilities you could want, even a worm farm for vege waste. We wanted a quiet sanctuary to relax and get away from it all and this delightful wee place delivered. Information, communication and checking in were all excellent and easy. We'd love to come back!"

"If time out from the hustle and bustle is what you're looking for then this is the place for that. We just loved being right by the water. The use of the kayaks and sup boards was a definite bonus. There's a nice little cafe close by that has yummy food and being from Tauranga it was only a short drive away. Florence's hospitality was A+ we just loved it here"

Guest access
Arriving at The Love Shack, guests have their own parking which is reserved just for them. There is no direct car access to the Shack, guests take some stairs and a concrete path down through the native bush to their very own private garden (less than 1 minute). We have garden lights that will guide your way along the stairs and path. We do advise that a reasonable level of fitness is required to walk the short distance back up the path from the accommodation.

Our boatshed contains a selection of kayaks, as well as our stand-up paddleboards for guests to use. A good selection of life jackets is provided for guests to wear.

We have a jetty which means guests are welcome to bring their own boats or jet ski if exploring the lake, water skiing or trout fishing is what you are into! Please do advise upon booking that you would like to bring either, so we can arrange to make room on our jetty and provide additional information. Guests will be required to launch all vessels across at the public boat ramp (Waipuna on state highway 33) and motor across to the Love Shack which is about 10 minutes away. The Okere Inlet is strictly a 5 Knot zone.
We can arrange storage for bikes at the top of the path so you can load and unload straight from your car. Please do indicate when booking if required so we can make provisions.

As there is no direct car access down to the Shack, we remind and advise that a reasonable fitness level is required to carry your belongings to and from the accommodation. We keep an umbrella at the top during your stay with us.

A minimum two-night stay is in place for the Love Shack along with an additional compulsory $70 cleaning fee which includes all linen as well as recycling and rubbish removal. We have a minimum three-night stay for all Long Weekends, including Auckland Anniversary, Easter, Anzac, Matariki, Queens Birthday & Labour weekend.

We have Free Wifi set up, as well as a blue tooth Marley speaker, which you can tether to and use in the Garden.

Other things to note
Minimum two-night stay at the Love Shack, however, we have a compulsory three-night stay over statutory long weekends. An additional $70.00 cleaning fee includes all linen supplied as well as your recycling and rubbish removal, applies to all bookings. Please let us know if you are wishing to bring a boat or jet ski, so we can make appropriate room on the jetty for you to tie up for the duration of your stay.
No pets allowed. We have a number of soft furnishings, rugs as well as a number of nesting birdlife on the water's edge that we want to protect. We do provide free access to a washer/ dryer for stays that are 4 nights and longer.
