Samsung‘s latest rugged smartphone, the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro, is getting Android 13. The company has released the big Android update with its One Ui 5.0 custom software for the phone in Europe. A wider rollout should follow in the coming days.

The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 stable update for the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro comes with firmware version G736BXXU1BVK2 in Europe (via). The phone remains on the October security patch even though the November SMR (Security Maintenance Release) has been out for some time now. But the security patch isn’t of primary interest here. Since the device is eligible for monthly security updates, it should get the December patch on time. Let Samsung focus on the new Android version this time around.

Released earlier this year running Android 12 out of the box, this is the first major Android update for the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro. And there’s plenty to look forward to here. Samsung has subtly tweaked the UI and improved system animations with the new version. There are also several new features and improvements all around, including new customization tools, OCR (optical character recognition) for extracting text from images, new photo, video, and editing features, improved stock apps, new gestures, and more Bixby Routines capabilities.

The latest update for the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro brings improvements to privacy and security features as well. So you can now get more out of your phone while ensuring peace of mind. The handset is already pretty strong physically. With this update, you have stronger software security too.

The Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro joins Samsung’s Android party

After a slow start last month, Samsung picked up the pace with its Android 13 update last week. It released the new Android version for over a dozen Galaxy smartphone models last week, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. The company began this week with updates for the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro is also joining the party now.

If you’re using the latest rugged smartphone from Samsung, you can look forward to this update in the coming days. The company will release the update in batches, so not everyone will get it at the same time. You can check for it from the Settings app or wait for a notification about the OTA (over the air) rollout. If you’re on a limited mobile data plan, connect your phone to an unmetered Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA file.
